AT&T

I’ve been here several times in the past couple years to inquire about phone and internet plans. Looking at new phones is always fun, too…
This is your typical AT&T store: bright and spacious with phone displays along the wall (iPhones, Androids, Windows phones, etc.) and a couple center displays with the latest tablets. There is no large television display area, but they do offer U-​Verse (whatever the bundles are — I haven’t looked much into it). Employees are friendly and not too pushy, with the exception of a couple of them. You have to be clear and upfront about your intentions when you speak with them.
One new development with their phones that I didn’t know about until a few days ago: gone are the days when you can just put down $ 200 for a phone with a 2-​year contract. Nope. Now you have to pay full price of the phone, no matter what. Not up front, of course, but in payments over twenty to thirty months with AT&T’s NEXT program. Eeek! Unless you’re able to shell out the full cost of a phone up front or you opt for one of the cheaper GO phones, you’re stuck with a monthly payment for the phone itself in addition to the phone usage bill. Not cool. Along with that, you can upgrade your phone only after a certain amount of time, based on the payment plan you choose. Blah. On one hand, it’s nice not to plunk down $ 200 off the bat for the phone, but it sucks that your bill is essentially higher each month because you’re paying for the phone itself too.
Let’s face it… phones are getting more expensive these days.
Sigh.
At least this store is here. No need to drive out to Lexington for assistance.
