The location is beautiful. Some of the food was quite tasty. The surly manager ensured we will not be going back. We have been to Kitty Knight several times last summer and enjoyed it. Our first trip this year was terrible. We won’t be going back. Took far too long for our drinks, which came out in two trips because the waitress tried to combine two tables orders, neither of which got all their drinks in one trip — can’t help but wonder who was responsible for training this poor kid. The real show stopper was when our appetizers and main courses arrived at the same time. Did I mention that the tables are too small to accommodate both? Not complaining about the table size because at any decent restaurant the apps come out 15 – 30 minutes before the mains. Now back to our friendly manager… I asked to speak to the manager thinking I would let her know the kitchen needed some help with their timing. She arrived at our table in a foul mood, I’m guessing she hit choppy air and the broomstick was uncomfortable. When I told her the mains came out on top of the apps she said, «So, what am I supposed to do about that?» She did graciously offer to take the main courses off the table and bring them back later(when they would be good and cold) but we declined. It is a shame when a decent chef is sabotaged by such terrible management. If you follow Kitty Knight online, I would recommend waiting until they post something about new management before going there.

The location is beautiful. It’s a shame because they are in need of some serious management. Some of the food was delicious, some awful. The servers were trying their best, but they were way understaffed and undertrained. There was not a manager to be seen inside or out so the young staff floundered to get their job done — they were really trying! But they were overwhelmed. A good manager would have been running drinks, helping to clear tables, to fix problems. One person in our party ordered the crab cake sandwich and she was brought the dinner. That check should have been changed to reflect that. One ordered a sandwich with the dressing on the side — it was on the sandwich and made it soggy(although she said the salmon was very good — just kind of ruined the sandwich). That check should have been changed to reflect that. I ordered the berry salad, which was fantastic and the«crispy wings» — where were the opposite of crispy. Some of us tried the cookie monster for dessert — it had a smidgeon of ice cream which was completely melted and the cookies were too hard to cut with a fork or a knife. One person ordered something to go which she never got. It took about 20 minutes for them to find her check and return her $. She had paid in cash! They could have fixed the check after we left. I hope they hire someone competent to run the restaurant — it is a beautiful place and some of the food was very good — my salad, the crabcake, the crab quesadilla — all got rave reviews. But without consistency and with a lack of good front of the house skills — it would be hard to go back.

Coming here for dinner has been on my bucket list for years now and I finally got to come… and have been twice in the last week and a half! I would give the food and the service and the atmosphere all five stars. They have a date night deal on Wednesdays which is super spectacular! for $ 29 you get a bottle of wine two salads and two entrées! And mind you they aren’t mini versions of the regular entrées… they are the real thing and there are plenty of options!

We have a regular restaurant that we go to every Mother’s Day. They were closed this year due to unforseen circumstances. I called around looking for a brunch to go to this year and found this place. We were excited to try the Kitty Knight because the reviews were pretty decent. We arrived on time and were seated promptly. The raw bar was awesome!!! The other food was what you would expect at a breakfast buffet. Cinnamon french toast, eggs, bacon, sausage, danish, etc. The service was NOT good!!! Our server was not prompt, disapeared, took forever with refills and we sat there for about 10 minutes waiting for the check. She seemed hurried and not happy and positive. I’m actually disappointed that I left such a big tip but as a previous server, I tend to tip well. I don’t think I’ll go back and IF I did, it won’t be for Mother’s Day brunch.

Four of us went to date night recently. The food was good but the service was terrible. We were told there would be a 15 – 20 minute wait for a table. Half the tables were empty! We finally sat down, no waiter. Fifteen minutes later he comes by and takes our order. Another 15 minutes go by and were told two of the items we ordered, they didn’t have. More time goes by and we get our wine. Huh, no corkscrew. Dinner finally comes out and we ask for water. We finished dinner and still no water. We never got the water. When asked if we wanted desert, of course we said no. Lord know how long that would take. Besides the twenty minutes wait, we got up two hours after we sat down. As much as we’d like to go back, it probably won’t happen.

I enjoy Kitty knight house mainly for the memories of the 70s and some memorable current experiences. The food ranges from sensational to almost terrible. The service ranges from the best ever superb to uncaring and completely inattentive. One night the food is the best ever gourmet entrée and service is professional, attentive every minute, with great ambience. The next time the food is letdown and servers are inattentive and disengaged completely, hence it wasn’t totally worth going. We still go because there is that 40−50% chance of a superb meal. I wish it could be consistent. I think quality control and attentiveness to food and staff all the time would help. Like other posters say, they do weddings and I do think that’s there bread n butter.

Great food+good music+great sunset on deck=perfect evening. Service was excellent! Started out with calamari and a ahi tuna appetizer. Had the Cuban sandwich and the scallops which all were delicious. The band was the perfect loudness for a dinner date with my wife. We will return.

Never disappointed with this place. The food is excellent, and the service is perfect. Can’t beat the view of the river. Great history to the place(1800s), and even rumored to be haunted(always a plus)! This time around, I got the Chilled Platter, and the Duck! I was surprised to see the Duck on the menu, it’s usually on the menu in the Fall. My wife got some sort of chicken and crab, and she said it was fantastic.

Tonight’s dinner service was the straw that broke the camel’s back. In the past I have just grown to accept the slow service but tonight was an all time low. 10 minutes to find a waitress followed by an agonizing 20 minutes to get my second choice beer, first choice was out. Then it took even longer to get my second beer. Dinner was mediocre as usual and yes, the septic tank odor was prevailing as usual. I’m done!!! Good riddance KKH.

Avoid this Bed & Breakfast. No cleaning service even after you have specifically requested service. No telephone. You are served a sub-par breakfast with No choices. You get what the management decides to serve you. A horrible experience. A zero! The worst!

I’ve been here several times before for drinks and maybe a quick meal but this week I’ve gone twice for dinner. Although a little pricy, this place has great food and good service. I must comment on my Eastern Shore Crab Cakes, they were the BEST crab cakes I’ve ever had. Not one piece of shell! I’ve had really good crab cakes elsewhere but usually I find small pieces of shell. Also, these Crab cakes had more crabmeat than any other crab cake I’ve had, hardly any fillings. All of the other members in my party were completely satisfied with their dishes also, not one complaint. My only complaint is that because of a party reserving the main dining room, we had to sit in the tavern to eat and the AC must have been on the fritz. Too bad it was raining, or we would have sat out on the deck. Other than that, the night was perfect. Thanks Kitty Knight House!

The food was amazing. It was so fresh and they even made us a few things off menu. My boyfriend wasn’t a fan of their menu descriptions however. He got the shrimp and penne and was not expecting the olives, which he doesn’t like. The only issue I had was my filet was not cooked the way I liked it. A lot of our food also came out on the cold side. The server was really nice! The whole experience just took way too long and our food took forever to come out. Everything was delicious I just wish it was warmer.

The service was terrible. The food was over priced and terrible! This is the second time I was here and the 1st time was just as bad! Never again.

The poor management continues to disappoint. Too many things to list, but it is clear the management has no real experience. One real funny example of rookie mistakes is drinks at the bar come to $ 5.75 or $ 6.30??? WTF who ever heard of that? trying to serve people quickly and you have to add change into the mix? Food is still very hit and miss.

My niece had her wedding reception here. Staff & facilities great. Large private dining area, dance floor, deck facing marina, private bar, buffet area, & lots of parking. Separate from Inn portion. Had so much fun that Hurricane Irene didn’t ruin this event.

A beautiful location for a restaurant and bed and breakfast. Right on the river and overlooking a marina. It is the perfect place for a day trip from Baltimore. About an hour and a half straight up Route 40 or #95. The rooms are decorated very nice and if you visit their website you will see the prices are very reasonable. You can see every room and select the one appropriate for you. Try and get the one with the balcony. Supposedly the room Kitty stayed in is haunted! The staff is very helpful. It is a small staff and sometimes you play some telephone tag but they always get back to you in a timely fashion. The next morning the homemade breakfast buffet was delicious. There was a spinach, crab casserole that sent me back for seconds. There was also fresh fruit, bacon, rolls, and everyone found something they liked to eat. You are given a coupon and you just present it to the waitress. It was not crowded so we got plenty of attention. Since it was a weekend we had to book for Friday and Sat. We went into Chesapeake City and had a blast at Canal Days. There are a lot of places to shop and eat. The Inn also has a swimming pool which was very nice. It was not crowded and the kids had a blast. There is a little ice cream shop there too and of course everyone had to have one of those.
The restaurant has trimmed its menu and so it concentrates on some house specialties which are tasty. The service was good and there is an outside patio to eat. At night on the weekends there is a band playing and the outdoor bar kept the drinks coming. If you are looking for a romantic get away this inn is a nice idea. I hope to get back there someday.

After a long few hours of raking leaves at my friends cabin on the bay we went here for dinner. Very warm and inviting dining room… fireplace going, Xmas tree lit and beautifully decorated. Most people were dressed up more than us, but we didn’t care and were perfectly comforable in what we were in(jeans, boots etc… lol) I had fish and chips and it was very good and warmed me bones. Service was prompt and attentive and very polite. I didn’t pay so not sure what the bill for us 3 was, but I’m thinking it was a little on the upscale price range. Oh! and it was interesting to find out the history about Miss Kitty Knighter herself fighting off the British ships and saving her home! Google it! :)

Bottom line — Thoroughly disappointed and well overpriced. My family used to eat(and drink) here in the 1970s and I thought it would be fun to re-visit 30+ years later. The Inn and Restaurant have been well maintained and heavily renovated, and it is beautiful. However, the Inn now does weddings(they seemed to be hosting 2 at once the night we were there.) My wife and I ordered the filet and crab special,(medium and medium-well, respectively), yet both filets came out the same color — brown. I sent mine back(for almost $ 30, I wasn’t doing to eat ruined meat). When it came out the second time, it was purple. The third time, it came out the right color, but I am certain they simply threw it in the microwave. My son got the kids cheeseburger — it came on a 5″ roll, but the burger was 2″ in diameter tops. The staff was very friendly, but overmatched — With 2 weddings going on, it was clear that they were not concerned with the restaurant in the tavern. In turn, we wound up waiting for everything — from drinks to rolls to meals. Unfortunately, I guess nothing lives up to the memories, but truthfully, the food they offered should have. Just a real disappointment.

The Kitty Knight House is always a safe choice for me. The food is always solid, the wait staff is extremely friendly and the environment is very peaceful. They’ve recently revamped the place so I don’t know if they still do the buffet but, if so, I wouldn’t recommend it. Stick to the menu. The bisque is good, much thinner than Bakers but not too thin. The salads are a lunch selection.

Sailed in for an over night stay in Georgetown. The nice people at Sailing Associates gave us a boat ride over to the restaurant. We walked through the parking lot to get to the outside deck hoping to eat outside. But no luck. There’s a great view of the harbor from the deck. I guess we’ll try to get there earlier next time(they also had a live band after 8:00pm. Couldn’t hear them that well from the inside). Dinner was good. I really liked the crab bisque. The service was good, but seemed a little confused at times. But we got what we ordered and the bill was accurate, so no complaints. The desserts looked great, but we didn’t have any room for more food!
