Gotta stop by this place and enjoy freshly baked bread. Last Saturday as we walked in, she was putting out the artichoke heart stuffed loaves and glad I got them. It’s unique, definitely small local bakery and got something for everyone. Thank you for being there.

We walk to this bakery every couple days; lucky us, since we’re locals! You must try the lavender butter cookies. I had the Rosemary Olive bread for the first time tonight and it is lovely. Kristin works hard and puts a lot of love into the goodies she makes.

Sooo glad I walked all the way down the street and found this bakery! My oh my! She could charge for the smells! Small store so had to stand in doorway smelling while some guy bought their own bread making ingredients and another lady was buying a loaf of bread and cookies. When our turn came we had a hard time deciding which bread we wanted. Sourdough? Buttermilk? Asiago cheese? Asiago cheese bread won. Also got cinnamon cardamom biscotti and lavender butter cookies. I live cookies and these were both delish; the lavender cookies were soft and melted sweetness in your mouth. Best biscotti I’ve ever had! The bread. My husband is the bread lover in the family but I’m so glad I tried this asiago cheese bread! Wonderful! This place knows their stuff! And she waited on all of us with a smile. Great prices too. I think the loaf was $ 4.50 and cookies were 50 cents each. Don’t miss this place on your next trip on I-70! I know I will always stop now that I know what goodness awaits me.

Incredible artisan crafted breads and pastries. I always stop by there every time I drive past Georgetown on I-70. Walking in your senses will come alive with smell of fresh baking bread. Owner Kristin Wheelock creates fresh organic breads that surpass anything found in local stores. This place is simply too good to pass up. No credit cards taken so bring cash or check.

The smells coming out are what bring you in the door. Fresh bread, cookies, brownies and macaroons. She’s friendly with that small town charm. I picked up a couple cookies and they were delicious.

Literally found this place by smell. Stopped in Georgetown after a great hike and while having some amazing lunch across the street we couldn’t help it but notice the amazing smell coming from this bakery. Stopped by and bought a couple loafs of breed, some cheesecake and other treats. The service was very nice and the baked goods were even better.

You smell it first. That unmistakable scent of freshly baked, slightly yeasty, warm bread. Then you see it. The TINY space where the Mountain Girl bakes. Being one of those gluten free assholes, I usually write off bakeries immediately. But my honey noticed that there were quite a few gluten free options listed on her menu. We had to go inside. There is standing room for two people inside – maybe 3 if you know each other well. She accepts cash only – why did I just donate some cash to the Energy Museum? Oh yeah… it was fun. That’s why. But still! I could have gone home with a loaf of bread! Next time. Gluten free ginger cookies – omigodyum. Macaroons, or chocolate dipped for a nickel more. Not overly sweet, which I LOVE. I really should have gotten more of those little gems. The man got a cookie, and said it was one of the best chocolate chip numbers he’s ever tasted. I’ll be back. For sure. With cash(or check). This place is awesome. And the majority of the offerings are organic. BONUS.

Mountain Girl Bakery was another great Georgetown find! My girlfriend and I were in the area hiking and checking out some mountain towns. I am generally attracted to bakeries and so wondered in. To my absolute pleasure, they featured some gluten-free items. Another bonus! The other day, right before I wanted to eat, drink and be merry, my chiropractor shut me down with dietary restrictions. Well, there was Mountain Girl to pick me back up with gluten free carrot cake and a cardamom/fennel biscotti(I cheated there). This was a perfect post-set up camp treat. The carrot cake was dense, not too rich, an overall delectable treat. I strongly recommend Mountain Girl Bakery to Georgetown visitors. Also, we had walked in right after closing time, but they let us think on things. They weren’t in a hurry to usher us out. Thanks!

With some spare time on our camping trip in Central City, we wandered Georgetown for an evening… and boy did we find some treats. We didn’t even get in the store before we were tempted by breads in the window display. The women inside beckoned us in(even though it was five minutes past close) and told us about their baked goods, many of them being gluten free. The women were kind and reminded me of family. They cared about the ingredients, took their time with us, and sent us off with a smile. My boyfriend debated on which gluten free treat to order, but he settled on the carrot cake, $ 5 for a big slice. We purchased and left, but didn’t get far before I saw some savory biscotti in the window that we quickly returned for. The cake was dense but moist, full of flavor, and we liked the box dry of the cream cheese frosting. The biscotti, flavored with fennel and cardamom, would pair well with a black tea in the morning or after dinner. Would love to return after my next hike. I’d go out of the way to pick up a sweet here.

I picked up a mountain grain loaf from this great bakery and have been enjoying it in many different applications: toast, sandwiches, etc. It’s a hearty bread with great flavor.

My family and I are working on a rental property in Georgetown and went for a walk just this past Saturday, stumbling upon this amazing gem. The smells were fantastic and we could not resist grabbing cash and stopping in. We purchased a loaf of Sourdough bread, one ginger snap, one chocolate chip cookie, a brownie and one each of the macaroons(chocolate and plain). All items were perfectly baked and I can’t wait to get more. However, the most outstanding item was the lavender butter cookie. I got one for myself and when my fiancé took a bite, he could not resist buying a second for himself. I am more than willing to spend that little extra to buy from this shop and highly recommend stopping in if you are in the area.

Happened upon this little gem while on a day trip. The smell when I walked in was worth the trip alone! We had some chocolate chip cookies, biscotti and a soft ginger snap. All were fantastic and organic to boot!
