Called this evening looking for a Chinese restaurant for those evenings we don’t feel like cooking. The service was responsive, everything was done correctly and the food was good. The sauce for the sesame chicken was different than what I am used to, but it was still good. The rice was freshly cooked and not dry and the cream cheese wontons were very good. I would recommend and will return.

Definitely one of the best chinese/japanese restaurants I’ve been to. I tried their special sushi rolls and it’s nothing like i’ve tasted before. All the dishes we got tasted fresh and delicious unlike most other restaurants. One of the best experiences we’ve had with restaurants. I definitely recommend Ping’s for good service and delicious food.

A hidden gem with an extensive Japanese, Chinese, and Thai menu; I’m a vegetarian and they have a good vegetarian selection too. I had the Tofu and Mixed Greens from their«healthy menu»; it was indeed healthy(little or no oil) and was pretty tasty; it was not stellar, but nothing in Gettysburg is. I was there on Memorial Day weekend and many other restaurants were packed with 45+ minute waits; Pings had no wait at all, seated us immediately and brought the food quickly. The restaurant is nice and spacious, the service was excellent, and the food was quite good. I parked about 2 blocks north on Carlisle Street(just past the circle where Baltimore turns into Carlisle) and there were plenty of spaces, unlike Baltimore Street which was packed.

Food is good for the Gettysburg area(restaurants are very limited for a tourist area) a little overpriced and wait time needs to improve but overall the food was good!

This is rhe second time I have eaten at Ping’s, and it won’t be my last. The food is always fresh, the service is quick and very friendly. My server, John, is knowledgeable of the menu and personable. This place is a gem… I would definitely recommend!

Overview: Typical Chinese restaurant with sushi options. Nothing special, but not terrible either. I would recommend going for lunch, as the dinner prices are high in my opinion. Food: Again, nothing special. Typical Chinese food from a small town. The sushi is okay, nothing amazing but also the only option other than a Chinese buffet in Gettysburg. Recommend: The Pad Thai is pretty good and the sushi is also decent. The mushu-pork is good as well. Atmosphere: The restaurant is nice and clean. I have always been seated at a clean table. Since the restaurant is right in town, nights and weekends can get crowded and noisy, but that’s typical for the area/time. Service: Service is slow at best, especially if you’re ordering sushi. I recommend figuring out what you want to order and put it in with your drinks to help get the food out in a decent amount of time. The staff also have great difficulty with the language barrier, which unfortunately has resulted in several mistakes in my orders. They are, however, very friendly.

The sashimi was so fresh and chef cut very large pieces for me. Pretty good sushi. rolls for Southern Pennsylvania/Gettysburg. This is a family run business and the owner was very friendly to me, not to mention gave me such amazing service. I recommend this establishment for any visitors to the area.

They delivered food to my hotel. The food was mostly good especially the sushi and mushi pork. The cashew chicken could have been better. I will say it one of the better Chinese/sushi place I have tired. It very good.

I can only assume the owners of this place are Confederate sympathizers and are out to exact revenge on all the visitors of historic Gettysburg and the Union victory. Let’s just say in summary I could’ve gotten better sushi out of a vending machine in Japan. Now to add insult to injury: we waited nearly 50 minutes for walk-in takeout of six rolls and two Misos. Fifty minutes for takeout! Probably burnt more gas idling outside than the bill which was overpriced for what we got anyway. I could’ve attended Sushi University, graduated with honors, paid off my student loans, and made my own rolls in the time it took them to push out our order. Secondly I ordered some specialty roll with«lump crab». It was pure crab stick imitation fish food. Now I get you often get this in cheap California rolls, but when you specifically call out«lump crab» in the description, call the roll«Extreme California» or whatever it was called, and price the roll at nine bucks, I expect you would at least throw some real crab in there. Even if they served the roll in a real crab shell leftover it would’ve been a bonus. All in all I won’t be coming back until I see some major improvements. And I’ve seen many restaurants take critical feedback and improve big time. Unfortunately I live 300 miles away anyway, which will minimize my chances of mistakenly stumbling upon this restaurant again. Good luck.

Absolutely awful. The server was very rude and my spicy salmon hand roll had been sitting out so the seaweed was impossible to bite into. Not to mention the fish tasted old and just smelt like awful quality. Not many options in Gettysburg for sushi but I would just stay clear of ping, which is in no way fit for a king.

The crappiest food ever. Honestly you do one thing you cook Asian style food it’s really not that hard. We had ordered fried rice, had a HUGE clump of white rice in it, no seasoning, no flavor, not eve a pea. General Tso’s shrimp, they actually took their sushi shrimp tempura and dump some sauce on it. The egg roll was from lunch, not freshly made. Needless to say I will NEVER eat or order from there again.

I used to love this place. now it is crap! I found shrimp in my spring rolls, that was quite an unpleasant surprise! I hate what this place has become: undercooked, tasteless, and full of disgusting meat.

I’ve come to Ping’s many times over the years. Really its the only place to get sushi in Gettysburg other than the stuff the buffets are trying to pass off as sushi. However in the past I have always given them a favorable review, but my past three experiences have led me to change my opinion of the establishment. The food is still, ok. Really I just go for the sushi, but my wife and son order from the Chinese menu most times. The Chinese menu seems to be mostly bought in Cisco type foods. The sushi is still pretty good. I can’t knock that one bit. However the wait times are getting ridiculous. If you dine in be prepared to wait half and hour to get even simple dishes. On top of that if your are in a party of more than one its doubtful that you will get your food at the same times. Now some staff are better than others, but the language barrier with some of the servers makes it very difficult to order even off their own menu. I have not joke had to simply point to what I wanted. Lord help you if you need a refill on your drink. The booth next to us had a server who I am guessing is a college student and I found myself wanting to ask her to take our table. On a recent take out order I had to wait 40 minutes for two rolls and a bowl of soup, needless to say I won’t be doing take out again, period. As for dining in, I won’t rule it out, but I’m not in the mood for it right now.

Best Chinese restaurant we’ve been to in a long time! The staff were attentive and personable. The food was fantastic. The crab soup was full of crabmeat and seaweed. The sesame noodles had just the right amount of sauce. The walnut shrimp had huge, succulent shrimp in a creamy white sauce with candied walnuts and broccoli. But the star of the meal was the crispy duck over a bed of shredded vegetables. Perfectly cooked, crispy batter around the edges of the duck, deliciously seasoned. Perfect meal! We’ll be back!

Ordered kung pao chicken and had good expectations after reading reviews on Unilocal. Was told 15 mins, got there in 5 mins – order was waiting to go. Got home and then learned why– unless kung pao chicken has asparagus in it, no hot pepper at all, thought they gave me someone else’s order until I called back. Was told maybe the chef changed the recipe, asked if it had peanuts. yes it has peanuts and that is only resemblance to kung pao in taste. There are many different styles of Chinese food but this was not anything I’ve ever seen before as far as ingredients or bland taste! Rated this poorly since its obviously was recycled order with peanuts thrown on top. Seen it before with another place, where I got very spoiled chicken with peanuts thrown on top, and similar claim it was a different style. Do this, get a bad rep and you earn it as far as I’m concerned, not exactly ignorant as to kung pao. Fool me once you won’t get a 2nd chance.

LOCALREVIEWER: I love living in the Gettysburg area and frequently visit our local spots, museums, resturants, and attractions. — Jennifer Smythe OVERVIEW: Pings is trying to hit too broad of a customer base instead of the Chinese owners making a great Chinese restaurant, they offer general Asian cuisine(Chinese, Japanese, and Vietnamese) which misses the mark and is shamefully overpriced FOOD: average but way overpriced. 3 people with entires, soup and hot tea came to $ 70 with tip. Just okay food quality. Pork(not even on menu) made my guest sick. Black, over brewed, chinese tea. ATMOSPHERE: average. But better than a dinner. SERVICE: hit or miss. I have had a different server every time I have went. Impossible to get consistent service.

Completely acceptable Chinese/Japanese cuisine. We hail from NYC and were in Gettysburg for a few days so I was having a hard time finding my usual vegan options. This place had plenty of options and a really nice and friendly staff. I would really go back for the staff alone, but the food was good as well. The tofu was well cooked(not so easy) and the veggie sushi was very fresh tasting. Also the Shirley Temple was killer.

If you’re looking for basic Americanized Chinese and Japanese food in Gettysburg, then you’ve found the place. It’s really just… meh. Food, meh. Price, meh. Service, meh. I got some sushi and spring rolls. I don’t recommend the sushi.(If you want sushi, you’re in the wrong town. Go over to Hanover for something decent.) Staff is friendly, nothing special. It was just okay. My friends with kids seem to frequent this place. Bumped into two groups of people the only time I ever went here. I really don’t have strong feelings one way or the other about this place. I wouldn’t choose to go back, though.
