Terrible food, terrible service, terrible environment. Couldn’t be more disappointed. We went for breakfast and will NEVER return!

Hot turkey sandwich was the most disgusting thing that I have ever laid eyes on. Thin slices of dried up turkey that they pan seared just to make sure it was extra dry, then served with grey colored instant mashed potatoes, and some funky yellow gravy. I tried to take a bite of this rotten mess, and had to spit it out. Asked server for my check to pay for my untouched food, and she asked if I wanted a to go box. Are you kidding me??? Was she really that clueless that I was unhappy with my food, or is she just too embarrassed to deal with the garbage that they serve here? I paid and said something to the manager and they still did nothing but take my money. I would avoid this place like the plague.

This is a great place for older generations. Classic bland dinner food with plenty of regulars. Just do not expect anything above bland(gravy was shockingly good!) and take them for what they are. Prices are fair and the staff is attentive. I have eaten here 5 or 6 times and I am sure I will be back.

Breakfast is solid. Pancakes and hash browns hit the spot. Never been here for lunch though. We’ve been here to conclude our annual guys weekend for seven years now and will keep coming back Ambiance isn’t great but when you’re hungover and hungry you don’t care. Price is right too.

Here’s the deal with this place. It’s ok. Some parts of it are good. They make good greasy food like onion rings or potato skins. However they do not make good solid food all around. I would suggest getting a burger or onion rings instead of other choices. Also the creeps are not bad. They have some good qualities to them. The bar area is uncomfortable. It’s awkward and feels like you’re walking into a retirement home… I’d advise going someplace more young and up to date.

The bartenders, drink prices, and comical regulars are what i like about the place. Wish management would take better care of the place and the staff. Feels like the new owners are trying to keep their heads above water. Hoping they fix some of the obvious needs.

Good diner food. Nothing fancy. If you want a decent breakfast, it’s not bad. I wouldn’t take my spouse here for our anniversary but, I would meet my son or my 80 year old dad here for a bite to eat and conversation. They can tend to over cook meats… even bacon so, if you don’t want crispy — just let them know. Milkshakes are always good! And they do have a bar if you need a drink with your meal. Occasionally, I come here just to people watch — they get some of gig harbor’s finest characters.

Greasy food in an outdated restaurant that screams to be remodeled. The inside is near shambles with duct taped seats and dirty carpet. Went here once, had runny eggs, chewy bacon and hash browns which tasted as if they were deep fried in rancid grease. Will I ever go again? Once is enough is not more than enough!

A local diner that I’ve been in maybe 4 times for breakfast during weekdays… great service, with a smile, food a little better than most diners, reasonable prices. Thank you sunset for keeping Denny’s, IHop and their ilk at bay here in GH. Ye haw!

I will give 3 stars on this because I only go here for the bar. It is a total dive inside which I tend to like and the beer is the cheapest around. The people that are regulars here are quite entertaining to watch and there is usually one person there that will most likely have to be carried out by the time they leave. Definitely not for everyone, but I like it. However, I understand that it is under new ownership or management so things could change in the future. I have heard that if you eat here, the food has gotten better since the switch over. I will have to eat breakfast here one morning to investigate and will update the review afterwards

Avoid at all costs! Evidently this local grill has new ownership – we thought we’d give it a try. We went for a quick and easy breakfast before heading to the Maritime parade over the weekend. Bad idea. It was a busy Saturday morning, and for that huge place they had two waitresses, one of whom was supposed to also manage the cash register as well as seat folks. We waited 15 minutes for a seat, when many seats were open. It took 40 minutes to get our food, and most of it was cold when it arrived. How hard is it to get scrambled eggs right? Looking around the restaurant we saw that not only does the management attempt to save money by not having enough help, they also scrimp on cleaning. The bathroom floor was totally filthy, there is dust and dirt everywhere, and cleaning supplies litter the hallway – obviously not used. This could be a nice, inexpensive addition to Gig Harbor’s meager supply of restaurants. It should be a place families can go for a nice burger and fries, or a weekend breakfast. Unfortunately, it is neither. Not only is the service terrible, the food is as well, and we definitely won’t be back.

The Sunset has been been serving up breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks in Gig Harbor for many years now. Good, reliable diner and lounge with decent prices and friendly service. I have no idea how many times I’ve been into the Sunset over the years, but it’s got to be a double handful at least! Breakfast is what I’m usually after, and it’s exactly what you’d expect: plate-full portions of omelets, hashbrowns/homefries, toast, pancakes, bacon, ham, sausage, eggs, and all the other morning meal standards, served all day. The rest of the menu is full of classic diner fare as well, with items such as hamburgers, sandwiches, soups, salads, pasta, appetizers and the like. I’ve had above and below average experiences here; not one visit has been so terrible that I’d vow never to return(a bit surprised to see so many negative Unilocal on here!), but nothing so awesome to make this a go-to dining destination, either. The service is usually efficient and friendly, and the prices aren’t bad at all. I’d say this place is pretty much«A-OK» all around, but doesn’t quite rate the esteemed«Yay! I’m a fan.» or the coveted«Woohoo! As good as it gets!» rating levels. On a side note, I used to be somewhat of a regular at the bar here several years ago. In those days the place was always packed and lively, often with karaōke or stand-up comedians for entertainment. Not sure what happened to the nightlife here, but the last few times I’ve driven past in the late evening the lounge was dark, quiet, and closed.

I have been going here for over 15 years but ever since the new owners took over everything got worse. Last week sent back 2 out of the 4 meals. Chicken fried steak and a burger. Horrible food and cooked not to order. The chicken fried steak tasted disgusting. when I asked to speak to the manager she had no time so I was asked to fill out comment card. service by waitress was great.

WOW, Lot’s of haters here — what’s up with that people? Unilocalers are usually a little more sophisticated than this. Folks this is an old style«diner», it screams diner from the outside, it screams diner when you walk in, it screams diner when you sit down, it screams diner on the menu. And guess what it serves diner food so why are all these other Unilocalers wanting it to be something it’s not trying to be. The bottom line is I don’t go into a Taco Bell expecting great street tacos with lime and cilantro, I don’t go to Ruth Chriss Steakhouse and expect a steak for $ 10. And I wouldn’t go here expecting some quaint bistro style food. What we got was decent diner food that was tasty(but nothing superlative) at a decent price. My biggest complaint would have been the service, the hostess who couldn’t smile to save her life or the server who never checked back, was below par for any establishments(except Panera bread, but that’s another story.)

This Sunset Grill is a lot happier than the one Don Henley sang about. My brother, a burger connoisseur, took my wife and me there for very satisfying cheeseburgers and fries. We’d try their breakfast or dinner anytime. Sunset Grill’s unique selling point is the best collection of model airplanes I know of west of Milano Airport. If you are lucky, the owner will offer to buy your lunch if you can name 10 planes. He let me select my first 2, but I only named 7& still went away happy. Aviation buffs should try their nous and everyone can enjoy the quality, location and fair prices at Gig Harbor’s Sunset Grill. 4926 Point Fosdick Dr NW Gig Harbor, WA98335 (253) 851‑8282

I used to love going there for breakfast, but stopped after going there several times for dinner. Each time I had severe stomach cramps within 15 minutes after eating dinner. After watching Gordon Ramsey’s Kitchen Nightmares, I wonder what the kitchen really looks like. They have a great location, but unfortunately management hasn’t done much with the décor, as mentioned in several other reviews. I think what bothers me the most about his place, other than getting sick after meals, is seeing their staff in the back of the restaurant having a smoke break. Hopefully their management will read the reviews and maybe even consider contacting Gordon Ramsey for some advice. I really wish they’d get their stuff together. Gig Harbor could use a good family restaurant.

Shocker. Another mediocre restaurant in Gig Harbor. There’s a bar room, a dining room, and a middle room that doesn’t know exactly what it is. The décor is pointless. There are a bunch of plastic model airplanes hanging around the entrance. As you go inside, the only décor is something that looks like it was recovered from an old folks home built in the 80s. The service was OK but the food was crap. The soup of the day was French Onion. Their idea of melted cheese over the top was tossing a bit of shredded whatever on top of the bread-like thing floating on top and the overall flavor was seriously lacking. The crab melt was soggy and uninspiring and the fries seemed like they came straight out of the frozen foods section of the grocery store. The more I eat out in this otherwise excellent town the more disappointed I get.

Outdated décor, outdated over priced menu. Decent service. Have dined here twice, once for breakfast and once for lunch. Breakfast was alright but the lunch was disappointing. I can make a better sandwich at home for a lot less money and the salad was wilted and boring. The worst latte I have ever had. Not sure how they keep going. Will not be back.
