Bahama Bucks

I absolutely love Bahama Bucks and I normally go to the other location but they were closed. Was disappointed that I ordered my bahama mama style treat expecting the Ice Cream at the bottom to find out there wasn’t any by the time I reached the bottom of the cup and still got charged extra for the Ice Cream. Not a big deal but really bummed especially after leaving an extra tip for them. 2 weeks ago I came and I expected the fun colored birthday cake sprinkles on my birthday cake shaved ice that the other location always adds and I didn’t have any on mine. I still love Bahama bucks I just wish it was consistent.

I went to this location the other day and was amazed! I usually go to the Mesa location but this location is so much cleaner and also has better customer service, by far! My whole family’s shaved ice had the PERFECT amount of flavor. They could not have made it any better. At first I was uncertain on what flavors that I should get but the cashier was super helpful and helped me narrow it down. I got a small strawberry colada with the cream and the ice cream in middle. I was also very pleased with how quickly my family and I received our products. Good job guys! Needless to say, this will be the location I go to from now on!!!

My newest summertime indulgence! It’s so much better than *just* a snow cone. Order the Bahama Rama Mama, a masterful blend of light shaved ice and smooth ice cream, topped with your choice of nearly a bazillion different flavor combinations. Of the countless options, my favorites are blue coconut, piña colada, cherry Coke, and birthday cake (not all at once). The flavors and texture of the shaved ice/​cream blend is quite remarkable and I guarantee you’ll be looking for excuses to come back here. My wife and I even stopped in for dessert after our anniversary dinner. Hyperbole? I kid you not.
More than the Snow, this place offers a whole variety of board games that you can play while you enjoy your tasty treats. Old school games like Battleship — so much fun! The place is big enough for the whole family, so bring everyone. Or, avoid the din of sugar-​rushed children and zip through the drive-​thru.
Oh, here’s a tip: If you get your Snow to go, ask for the cup the next size up and a flat top. As you can see from the photos, they give you a nice big glacier that juts out above the top of the cup. You don’t want to miss out on that extra goodness, nor do you want it all in your lap, just because you’re on the go.

The Bahama Rama Mama is delicious and refreshing but the Customer Service is terrible! I visited the location on Warner/​Cooper twice this week and the kids behind the counter were more concerned with talking to each other and laughing than serving their customers. I’ll go out of my way to visit a different location to avoid waiting 15 minutes for a shaved ice when the place is empty. I’m highly disappointed and recommend management find better help.
After 2 bad visits, I’ll take my business to a different location but the shaved ice is amazing so I’m not giving it up all together.

We decided to try the «Baby Size» Root Beer Float Shaved Ice called Sno (their spelling) super light & creamy, so good…
At Least 3 pleasant employees on staff to accommodate the many customers.
A plus– they also have a drive thru.
Theme inside the shop is Sea and Surf. Hanging above the Windows are Straw Canapés with Lights surrounding all the outer tables inside the dining room. Nice atmosphere.
You can grab a board game to play as you seat and enjoy your sweet treat. They have a ring toss game outdoors on the patio. Fun!
We will be back to explore more options and flavors they offer on their menu.
Neat place to pick up a «chill drink» during those extremely hot summer days!

I decided to edit my previous review because I posted out of sheer anger since we waited so long for a not up to par sno. Owner contacted me right away, offered free product, which is not what I was looking for nor did I accept, but it did make me feel happier that management really cares. I get it, long wait because new staff and Warner weather.

They have every flavor possible … Even chocolate ! I rarely stray from my norm of banana and blue bubblegum tho. It reminds me of being a kid on vacation in Hawaii. The drive thru is a bit slow. I had 3 cars ahead of me and it took close to 15 minutes. Sadly they didn’t have large orders so I was lost for an excuse. The ice itself is very soft and fluffy. Not at all like a snow cone thank goodness. I’ll be back soon !

Staff was very friendly, helped me find what drink I wanted. Service was awesome and especially my strawberry/​banana smoothie lol. Can’t wait to go back!

Love this place. I go here way too often in the summer time. Make sure to get extra cream, so yummy. Beware their sizes are huge! I get a Baby size and that’s plenty for me.

My favorite shaved ice place and location! The staff is very friendly and so helpful. I come in with friends and also my family, they have adorable board games and cute activities if you do choose to come with the fam! But let’s get to the point the shaved ice is to die for its so smooth and actually tasty unlike most shaved ice places with there «chunky ice rock» like shaved ice! I recommend a Watermelon, Apple, and Blue raspberry without crème it’s the best combo in my opinion!

Even with a mostly teenage staff Bahama Bucks cranks out some great drinks! They seem to have fun and mess around a lot but work quickly and are friendly to customers.
We come here a lot and only once have we had an issue with our drinks. I contacted the manager and he offered to send drink coupons.

I went just once and it’s horrible. I really don’t know how people could like it. If you want something like that but very good come in Italy, go in the beach and wait until you don’t hear «grattachecca» I am not saying that is a bad place but I won’t go anymore bc I didn’t like it at all :)
Spend your money in something better!

The selection is overwhelming. Staff was friendly and tried to help. Quality ingredients. My husband loved his red raspberry. I tried strawberry margarita and key lime pie. Wasn’t thrilled with either of mine. I had about two bites, put a lid on it and took it home so my husband can eat it later.
note: I was glad they gave me a sample of their sugar free snow so I didn’t order it. Weird texture!

I have been waiting for a long time to come to Bahama Bucks. I was finally in the area and it did not disappoint. I have had shaved ice from the motherland and this is pretty close to Hawaiian Shaved Ice. I must say, the menu is slightly chaotic. I took me awhile to figure out that they offer more then just shaved ice. There is also a ton of flavor choices. I appreciated the fact that they had some suggested flavor combos. I was behind a family sampling almost every flavor, so I had a lot of time to figure out what I wanted to order. I could tell that the employees are used to people sampling a ton and they were all patient. Once I got my order, it was the perfect ratio of syrup to ice. My toddler who does not like cold things or sweets, loved the shaved ice at Bahama Bucks. As the weather starts to warm up, I can see myself finding a way to be in the neighborhood.

I so wanted to love this place. Used to live at a place called SNO in downtown Tempe too many years ago. Fresh everything. This place is not fresh anything. Love the smoothness of the ice. I gave a second star because of the great consistency. But I got half lemon, half watermelon. The lemon taste like floor cleaner. The watermelon was another chemical concoction. My daughter got cherry, which was edible but that’s about all I could say about it.

This review can easily go to five stars; the Hawaiian shaved ice served here is great — when you get it. Eventually. After a very, very, very long wait.
Went it with one other person on a Saturday night. There were about 7 families in front of me. 45 minute wait. The teenagers running the show are so, so incredibly slow. Their personal conversations are so loud that I can tell you exactly who is going to ask whom to the next dance and why they hate their dad. My very nice date night took a downward turn after my husband was fed up with standing nearly an hour watching the process and we had babysitter’s at home to get back to.
I thought it may have been a freak occurance so I came back on a Monday around 1 pm. It was completely empty save my party of 5 and another family of 3…35 minutes later, I was finally able to get my shaved ice.
I have tried the drive through and that was more timely so that is a good option but I don’t want to the dyes being spilled all over my car so it’s not a long term solution.
My kids love it and it is a bummer because we pass it three days a week but I am way too busy to wait nearly an hour for a cup of ice with flavoring. I met the owner and he is a really nice guy but I can’t imagine how many people are patient enough to keep returning.
Update: Was contacted by the owner of this Bahama Bucks. He was very concerned that my guest and I had a bad experience and was determined to make it right. Was open to any suggestions and was very refreshing to speak with. I was sent a few coupons and dropped in today to use them. Ordered three snowcones and was on my way in six minutes. Nice job guys!

I enjoy going to Bahama Bucks. This one is especially convenient because it has a drive-​through.
There are a wide variety of flavors and the ice is perfectly shaved. This is a very good place to get a nice cold treat. I usually get cherry Coke or cherry lime. My fiancé usually gets Tigers blood or big red. All good stuff.

excellent shave ice with a dizzying array of flavors available to your liking. it’s not quite on the level as the well-​known & proven spots i’ve had in hawai’i but bahama buck’s is good shave ice in its own way. i’ve seen bahama bucks on many trips to vegas but never got a chance to sample their sno offerings. and being that this was my first time in the phoenix area, i had to jump at the chance to go to the gilbert location. i was really glad it was close to my friend’s place where i was staying. we went there for our sugar fix after having lunch in downtown gilbert. it was well worth it. i got to treat my friends and their kids, the staff was super nice even though we had about 9 orders and they were awesome to take our coupons.
i opted for a regular size which was plenty for me. i went with toasted coconut, mango & strawberry. i just got the regular shave ice. they have an option for having vanilla ice cream on the bottom and tropical cream drizzled as a topping. the texture of the shave ice was good. i consider myself a connoisseur of sorts when it comes to shave ice because i will seek it out whenever i’m in a new town hoping to find something like they had at waiola shave ice on oahu. it’s a never ending quest on the mainland. ha! the staff at bb get all the flavor into the bottom of the cup. they do not skimp. i love that… the wait was a little long cause it was a busy day and they have a drive-​thru window as well but to me it was worth it. like i said the staff was great especially the girl at the counter that took our many orders. make sure to tip them!
i like that they had board games by the counter when you walk in that you can play while inside. we all played HedBanz and that was a lot of fun & laughs. they have the ring game outside by the tables which im sure is good times… probably frustrating too.
also thought it was nice than they had sugar free and zero calorie options (whaaa??) as well as smoothies and special orders. there’s just so much to choose from. i will definitely be back the next time i’m in town. i’l be getting a large this time. good sno!
oh… and i like the color changing spoon.

Bahama Bucks has something called a mocha java which I imagined to be a coffee flavored shaved ice. It wasn’t. It was more like the cup of coffee my grandmother would make for me when I was a child. A cup of milk with a splash of coffee and way too much sugar. I didn’t care for it one bit.
Other flavors we have tried were the wedding cake, birthday cake and mango flavors, those were all really good. Service is very friendly and efficient.
