Been coming here since we moved to the area. The food is great and the beer selection is top notch. Breakfast on the weekends shouldn’t be missed.

I’ve been on a mission to have weekend breakfasts at rural locations in Illinois, and today we hit the Pub 72 Bar & Grill in Gilberts, IL. The«72» is after the number of the highway, and if memory serves me, is a rather new name. Not sure if the change also represented a change in ownership. The place has a menu with«something for everything» whether you’re in the mood for plate dinners, sandwiches, appetizers, pizza, or adult beverage drink specials. They serve a VERY economical breakfast(beginning at $ 2.99) on Saturdays and Sundays from 9AM. This is one of those joints were seemingly every employee took a course in what being in the hospitality business truly means. You’re almost always greeted by the owner when you walk in, a guy who doesn’t think so much of himself that it would be beneath him to walk around, refill coffees, inquire to customers satisfaction, and be observant enough to notice patrons that need attention. Superb. Rare qualities in most smaller places these days. Serving help was equally affable, smiles all around, diligent order taking, great follow-up. By 9:30, the place was pretty busy with Sunday morning diners. I had ham steak and eggs, great piece of ham with a nice grill char on it, just the way I like it. And a slice of Texas toast. As is the fashion at small diners in Illinois, a bowl of butter pats grazes each table. Eggs cooked precisely as ordered. Hash browns are above average too. I’ll be back. You should check them out if you live in the area, or are tooling down I-90 some day.

Went in just for carry out! Food was ready in 15 minutes! Younger male which could have been the owner was making sure all customers were thanked as they were leaving very outgoing and greeted me when I walked in. As I waited for the food the bar tender politely offered me a drink! Got home and the food was amazing! Ordered the buffalo chicken wrap, half a dozen wings, and the sampler. Each were great portions and very tastey. The inside of the establishment seemed to be a very great environment with strong focus on customer service! We will definitely be back and next time we will eat there!

The food is generally ok – the chicken tacos are pretty tasty. The issue is service. Our order was taken after 25 minutes of waiting… when I finally walked up to the bar and asked if I could order. Then, of course, my order was wrong: wrong salad dressing, meat wasn’t cooked how I ordered, and no CHEESE on my CHEESEburger, but I was so hungry I dealt with it. Asked for refills on chocolate milk, and 12 minutes later waitresss walked over with a gallon jug and a promise to return with the chocolate syrup, which never came. Always the same waitress when we go, and always the same disappointing service. The waitress is very nice. I sincerely believe she is a good person, but being a good person doesn’t make you a good waitress. We’ve been there several times, but I think I’ve reached the limit with my patience for such poor service.

Despite being insanely busy for a fundraiser, they were very good. Food was tasty and prepared quickly. We had the Buffalo Chicken Wrap, which was HUGE and the Blackened Chicken Sandwich. Both were very good. They have homemade chips, which I love. Would also be a great stop on the Harley.

Stopped in for breakfast after Church — the wait staff was definitely more interested in serving beer and bloody marys at 10AM than pancakes and coffee. Took 37 minutes to bring out a cold scrambled egg and bitter pancakes. Will not be returning.

Was hoping the food was as good as it was when it was The Point so my boyfriend and I stopped in for a late lunch on a friday. I ordered a bacon cheese burger medium rare but it was more raw than anything. Will give it one more try before I give up. Ill try again with thr AYCE fish fry on Friday nights.

Very tasty food at very reasonable prices. Bartenders are very attentive and friendly. We’ve been coming here since it was The Point and it’s actually a lot better now.(Not a knock on the previous owners at all)
