This is definitely a local favorite. The food is great, and they always go above and beyond to make sure you are satisfied and enjoying yourself. Very popular spot for Hawk’s games. The owner makes these specialty sweet tart shots that taste just like the candy. I will continue to go to here! Looking forward to the expansion!

Took my mom there as she really wanted Frog Legs and we were all impressed with this place! She loved them — I tried a bite but the idea of it grossed me out(nothing to do with the place though!). We have been back since and it’s still just as great. Everything was delicious! Between all of us we tried the honey BBQ frog legs, soup, grilled cheese with bacon(boring I know, but good), tater tots, mac and cheese wedges, tacos(on Taco Tuesday) and the funnel cake sticks(these were exceptional!). Everything was delicious and everyone there is friendly! For five of us to eat the first time(one child) it was about $ 70 with drinks, meals and an appetizer. Can’t wait to go back again!

Disappointing first experience! First being double charged for drinks(please pay attention to ur bill) aNd a very vulgar bigger blond lady… for our first time being there I wasn’t expecting at bar close for this woman to scream«loVe you guys but GETTHE F. CKOUT!» She acted Completely inappropriate &CLASSLESS! We were so excited to try this place & needless to say we won’t be back! I can’t comment on food because kitchen closes at 10:30, I kno kinda early, we were bummed!

Wow, what a surprise, we drove by kind of by accident and decided to stop in and have a couple of drinks which ended up being dinners too. A very nice ambience for a local bar, very good service, quality drinks and some delicious fish fry(it was a Friday after all). We would definitely be back, for sure. Nicely done chubby bullfrog.

Coming back to watch all the Hawks and bears games. The inside is loaded with all sports gear and there’re 6 huge TVs that you can clearly see from every table. I got a cheeseburger that was cooked perfectly(medium rare). The fries are really good too. First time here but won’t be my last– it’s well worth skipping all the overcrowded bars in Algonquin for games and drinks.

Last Friday my wife and I visited the CBBG for the first time. We have known of this place since their opening and know that there is Fish on Fridays. The server came to the table immediately with the menu and took our order for drinks. Since I decided to have fish, I asked the server if the batter on the fish was thick or thin, since I don’t like thick batter as is served in many restaurants. She explained that it was thin… I said to give me one order of three pieces vs all one can eat. My wife ordered another item from the menu and was satisfied with her order. The fish was served hot with a perfectly browned thin batter coating. I was struck with the appearance of the plate with perfect colored fries and a container of coleslaw. The fish was flaky and hot.(Not mushy and overcooked like many places). The coleslaw has good flavor without all of the usual juicy liquids. I was impressed and satisfied that the food was perfectly prepared. Our server was excellent from start to finish. We are looking for another visit.

I gave The Chubby Bullfrog 1 star because zero stars is not an option! We went on a Saturday afternoon around 4:30pm. I had accidently stumbled across TCBF while searching for a new place to try on line. I went with my wife and a friend of ours of whom we go out to eat with quite often. We walked in the door and I did not see a sign indicating whether we should seat ourselves or not. The bar had 6 patrons seated at it and there was only one table on the floor that was occupied by one person. I got the bartender’s attention and asked if we could seat ourselves. She was very polite and told we could sit wherever we liked. With-in seconds after the bartender telling us that a patron at the bar felt as though he needed to stand and point to each empty table and yell«except that one, and that one, and that one» until he covered all the tables. I picked the first table he pointed at and told him that I was going to sit there just because he said not to. I don’t know he felt the need to say that but it pissed me off. I ordered the frog legs and gator bites apps for the table. The frog legs were very greasy and left a strange film on our teeth. The gator bites were decent but there is more breading then gator meat. For dinner I ordered a bacon blue cheese burger and ordered it medium well. Burger was cooked well done(which I really don’t mind). The burger was oozing grease! The meat had a weird texture. I think it may be twice ground. My wife ordered a club sandwich. Looked good to me. I did not try it at dinner but did eat the half that she took home the next day and was good. Our friend ordered a grilled cheese with ham.(He orders this same sandwich wherever he can) and said he has had better. The patrons at the bar were quite obviously regulars. Which is cool by me but they were extremely obnoxious and we felt as if we were not welcome. The bartender was our waitress and was very polite and we were very satisfied with her service. I usually try a new place three times before I post a negative review to give them a chance. People have bad days and the cook may have been having an off day; but I don’t think I could stand the behavior of the regulars and after reading some other reviews here on Unilocal,I’m not the only one.

We stopped in for a quick lunch today. Delicious! Tiffany our server/bartender was a delight. She explained the meat was fresh, never frozen. The burgers are formed as they are cooked. The soups are homemade. We had a cup of orzo, tomato, spinach. It was good. I ordered the sliders, one burger, one on site smoked pork and one meatball. My husband ordered a ½ lb pub burger. My husband said his burger was one of the best he’s ever had in a restaurant. And the bun was excellent as well. He ordered his burger medium, and it was nicely pink in the middle. He also said he didn’t think he’d order anything but a burger next time, it was that good.

I’ve been to the Chubby Bullfrog twice. Visit #1, we sat at the bar, the restaurant was largely empty, but despite that it took 45 minutes to bring out our dinners. I can’t remember what I ordered, some type of beef sandwich, and my partner had a burger. Visit #2 was horrible, they claimed to be smoking some meat but the restaurant was full burning chemical type smell that only got worse and worse as we sat there. It took so long for our food to come out that we ended up just having them box it all so we could leave and get some fresh air, we all had to change our clothes when we got home because the stench was unbearable. Both times the food was completely unremarkable. When you combine two unsavory visits with a bunch of overzealous regulars that hurl insults and attack other customers on the restaurant’s facebook and Unilocal pages… Well let’s just say that with the huge number of really good pubs in the area there’s no reason to bother with this place. Try Randall Roadhouse(amazing pizza), Village Squire(great local flair) or Blues BBQ(the pulled pork is to die for).

This note is to Jason N. I just so happened to be sitting just in front of your beloved on the night in question and not for nothing but it didn’t go down quite the way the wife had reported. It is possible that the way the message given was not done so with a dozen roses but Mike(the owner) was very up front with the fact it was standing room only and if she was okay with standing she needed to do so out of a high traffic area. Let me preface this by saying, the time in question was 3 minutes left in the first at a Hockey Bar were everyone but you and your wife is dripping in BLACKHAWKS swag. So I’m not sure witch one of you had the brilliant idea of trying to come in to a Hockey Bar(during playoffs) to try and get a seat. Well, at least we may be able to chalk this up to a learning experience and know for next time. If you had come in early enough to get a table for the game, you might have had the chance to experience why I and my family and friends go in to the Frog. Mike and his entire team are like minded in understanding customers come first. Mike happens to be one of the most gracious people I know… He contributes to the community with fundraisers, He donated to our community Youth Football Team(Jr. Chargers) and most of all he cares… Overall thanks for the input, as a business man myself I’m constantly looking for opportunity’s to straighten my team. I got a feeling the learning from this will help to do so… Footnote: The Chubby Bull Frog is a place to come have fun and some drinks. Great Drink Specials, Foods is always Good and the service is on point! Personal recommendation: SW Chicken Sandwich & Fries Five Stars from me

Great, much needed neighborhood bar! The owner and his wife could not be more conscientious and accommodating. Great hockey bar, as well as any other sport, excellent t.v. Placement. A great music and karaōke venue. I’ve eaten there more times than I can count, and have never been disappointed. Chub on!

Will not be returning anytime soon. The service is so awful and rude. During our visit we had a server named lexi. Super rude and acted like we were a bother to her. We had never been there before and had many questions about the menu and it was obvious she was annoyed answering them. Drinks took awhile and my husband got up to use the restroom and saw our sever in the back texting… Needless to say we will not be returning. Food was alright but nothing special. It’s a shame.

I’m not sure if I’ll ever get used to bars and restaurants in strip malls. I guess it’s perfectly fine to younger generations, but the idea of trying to squeeze«ambiance» into a former yogurt shop or dry cleaner just seems a stretch to me. The Chubby Bullfrog sees itself as a sports bar, with the usual memorabilia perched on the walls, and a couple dozen NHL jerseys hanging from the ceilings. Five TVs ring the bar, and four video poker machines are perched in the corner. The owner has decided there is no local lunch crowd, so they open at 3PM most days. With the exception of there being alligator bites and frog legs on the menu, it’s straightforward standard Chicago bar food. It will come as a surprise to absolutely nobody that I had a burger, which are hand-formed patties in your choice of 6, 8, or 10 ounces, on a fresh ‘pretzel-like’ roll, and topped with Spanish onion, tomato, lettuce, accompanied by a kosher spear. I say«pretzel-like» as it has the appearance of a pretzel roll, but not the cloying sweet taste most buns of that ilk possess, which I find unpleasant. Fries or chips are standard, upgrade to tots, rings or a salad for a buck. About $ 11 in all for the 8 ounce, with bacon and blue cheese. The bacon was very flavorful, and while the blue cheese was a chunky sauce, is was very«blue,» strong in flavor, which was a delight for me. At some point in every burger experience, I strip everything away to taste just the beef, and this is a nice grind, very flavorful, natural beef flavor, with a slight char. The deep fried tots were exceptional. Pepsi soda products and a gajillion beers in bottles.

Hit the Chubby Bullfrog a few weeks ago. Three of had sammiches and we tried the FROGLEGS. They were big, tasted great. Between good service and my pulled pork sandwich I would have given this place four stars that night. Took some more friends, stopped in for a Friday night Hawks game. Place was packed, service at the bar was only decent and the pricing wasn’t great. Good hockey viewing everywhere; stayed to the end of the game. Three stars. Went back a third time with friends for the hawks game, had bragged about the place. Well this time they served scrawny little thoughtless frog legs, only passable nacho’s and a very ordinary sandwich. Pricing was nothing special, frog legs should have been sent back and the service was terrible. Two stars
