Great Irish pub for drinks and beer… food is no Bueno … Sorry. Bland, mushy and blah.

Service was fantastic: quick, attentive, knowledgeable, and not at all annoyed with my 5 million questions, which is hard to come by in the service industry!!! Dan, thank you so much for such a wonderful meal and experience. Food was phenomenal!!! Being an Irish pub junkie I have high standards and The Claddagh not only met those standara, they beat it! Great menu selection that is reminiscent of typical Dublin pub, with a great selection of American Fair. We ate the chili, battered bangers with a spicy mustard ranch sauce(order this, seriously — what are you waiting for, order them already!), The Claddagh ultimate fries, the corn beef Reubens(moist and delicious), and what is a trip to an Irish pub without fish and chips — which were very traditional with the exception of size… dude if it’s just one person get the 1 piece, you will thank me later! Ambiance is standard american pub, which is fine for me. But their Guinness glasses are awesome and was tempted take mine home Overall, if you happen to find yourself in Gilroy like we did, or if you live within an hours drive, The Claddagh is a must stop! Thanks again for the great meal!

My husband, daughter, and I went here today… We sat down, and sat there for 5 minutes in a virtually empty restaurant. The server looked at my husband, looked at me, and kept talking to the patrons in the bar. No greeting, no menus, no acknowledgement whatsoever. So… We got up and left. I guess they were not interested in serving customers today! We will not be returning.

The waitress was friendly. The fish bites were really good. That was about it for the highlights. I ordered a burger with Irish Bacon and Egg added, and the waitress wrote nothing down. When it arrived it was a thin and undercooked patty with only tomato and cheese on it. The salad that accompanied it was brown and soggy. My friend whom was with me ordered chicken strips and they actually had a green tint to them, for which we assumed was maybe a leftover coloring from something cooked for St Pattys Day last week. Aside from the coloring, they were dry and well over cooked. Set everything at the edge of the table not finished, and rather than ask if it was ok we were asked about dessert. I still tipped her well because she became polite half way through the meal, but overall this is not a place that I will return to.

They have a pool table and small arcade here which is great if you like to play while you drink. The long Island and the adiós are not so good here so I don’t recommend them but the appetizers are a delight. I also love how they are always having free give aways during holidays or events. They have a patio out front for smokers too. But you have to go in to place your order first. Overall it was OK the two times I been here but i wouldn’t come back because the atmosphere wasn’t inviting or too welcoming. I love those places where the place is full of good conversations and great friendly environment. I didn’t get that here.

I was initially pretty concerned with how our food would be here, but it was good. The waitresses were friendly and got our drinks quickly. I got bangers and mash. I was hesitant to order this ’cause it seems as though every place that serves this gives you a dinky serving. However, I was pleasantly surprised with the two good-sized sausages and heaping help of garlic mashed potatoes. The veggies were clearly frozen but that’s not really what I came for. :) My hubby got Chicken Tikka Masala which is really weird considering we were at an Irish pub. It was actually pretty good! This is a «customer favorite» according to them. I can see why. Nobody else complained about their food and from what I saw, it looked good. I wouldn’t hesitate coming back to Claddagh’s. Friendly service and good food.

It would get more stars if not for the sloooowww service, and the bar had 6 patrons plus only another 3 tables filled. Appetizer(deep fried artichokes and mushrooms) was renarkable. Philly cheesesteak was very good, as was the shepherd’s pie. We will be back because the food was good, but pick up the service…

Best pub in Gilroy! When I’m visiting Gilroy I always like to make a trip to the Claddagh. Great friendly service and real pub ambiance.

Great little spot if you want to catch a game and a beer with good pub food. I ordered the fish and chips, which seemed a bit pricey. However, once I saw the portion size I understood why the price was what it was. Fish was well done crispy batter, and flakey fish inside. I asked for the chips to be extra crispy, and they were perfect. The beer selection was great, and the service was very attentive. The only knock I had on the place was they had the doors open and it was a bit chilly inside. We asked our server to shut the door and she did, but it was still a bit cool inside. Not cold enough to keep me from coming back though. In an area that lacks good bars with good food this place is easily in the top three. Definitely will be coming back here in the future.

The food is actually pretty good. A Little pricey. I moved into the neighborhood about a year now. And wanted to find a go to place for beer and good eats. I have visited the Claddaugh about 6 times. I gave it two stars because of the lack of warmth and lack of friendliness. I get a bad vibe there. I feel I gave the place a fair shake… but they don’t want my business.

Being a wee bit Irish and fond of Guiness and Jamesons, I’ve found myself in more than a few Irish bars over the years. So let me preface that this is no Dublin bar, nor Boston, not even SF. But it’s a great find in Gilroy and the food, drinks and service are excellent. Extremely fond of their fish & chips and their clam chowder(which is not Irish but it’s one of the best I’ve had). The calamari steaks are absolutely amazing. The Irish stew and the Shepherds Pie are good but not great(perhaps I’ve been spoiled). Have been coming here a few years and everything is tasty and well prepared. Beverage selection is OK. Service is always excellent. Can usually seat immediately without reservations.

I haven’t been to the Claddagh in about 6 – 7 years. In fact it has been so long I couldn’t remember why. On Sept 6, 2015 I placed a to-go order. I ordered a Kobe cheeseburger for myself and fish and chips for my girlfriend. We live pretty close so the food stays pretty warm and fresh for the 3 minute drive home. It was a bit weird walking inside. There isn’t anyone to greet, seat you or take an order. So you just walk up to the bartender. My order was ready pretty quickly and I hurried home with it. My burger was still warm and the fries were too. My girlfriends fish & chips was a different story. The fish batter was soggy and so was the fish inside. She ate about two bites and didn’t want to eat the rest. I can’t blame her. I tasted it and was totally disappointed. I called the restaurant and spoke with a lady that answered. She passed my call to the owner. I told the owner the problem with the fish batter being soggy and asked him if the fish had been frozen. He said it was fresh and not frozen. He said that I could come in another time and he’d make another order of Fish & Chips for free. I tried to give him my name but he told me just to ask for him when I come in. That’ll be never. I think he should have done better by offering a refund this fish & chips. I’ll not be going back and taking my chances again.

I’m not sure what kind of food this is but it’s definitely not Irish. Their hamburger patties are obviously frozen. Their was no taste or juice on the patty — mcDonalds burgers taste better! Veggies? What kind of veggies are you cooking back there but you guys could at least try to stick them in the microwave or something… They were raw and bland. The worst part is that I found a hair chilling next to my bun on the plate! great, how appetizing. Someone please call the health inspector because they need a check up ASAP

This place is garbage. Came here with three friends today. I was immediately turned off by the fact that no prices were listed next to the drink menu. I asked how much the wine was and the waitress had no idea. You do work here, right? We order our food and as she’s putting down my plate, there is a thick black hair just sitting on top of my veggies. I ask her to have it remade so she does, and comes out with another plate about five minutes later. I think they just changed the veggies. I start eating, the chicken is tough, the veggies barely seasoned or cooked. As I’m pouring my gravy, ANOTHERHAIR comes out with the gravy. I was horrified. I send it back and ask for my money back. The waitress is taking forever, despite the fact that I was clearly not happy. My friends barely ate half their meals; they were too disgusted and afraid that hair was in their food too. The waitress really didn’t care or offer any kind of compensation. I go inside to talk to the«manager» and ask for some sort of discount because of the terrible experience. She never apologized or admitted that the hair was their fault. I asked for a discount for my friends, she gives me the«I’ll see what I can do» bullshit and never does anything. The waitress once again took forever to get us our bill. Claddagh restaurant, this was one of my nastiest dining experiences ever. You need to watch your fucking food because there’s all sorts of hairs and god knows what else in there. Your lack of consideration for the customer, reluctance to make things right and overall crap attitude will never make me return. You are an embarrassment of an establishment and I look forward to trying the new restaurant when you clowns close down.

Ate here for lunch on Saturday, 6÷20÷2015. Service was fast, friendly and efficient. Though the food was pricey, the servings were HUGE! Our party of 6 had a number of dishes:(2) had the fish & chips(the single piece is large enough for a grown man’s meal($ 11.95). I could not imagine eating a 2 or 3 piece meal). Another had the bangers and mash(sausage and mash potatoes). Another had the shepherds pie with vegetables. Another had the make your own burger. And the last had the steak salad. The servings were large for the price. Overall a good VALUE!

Best Irish Restaurant in Gilroy — It’s got a great location in the same shopping center as Mama Mia’s and Ten Japan. This is always a great location if you don’t know what you’re the mood for. The Claddagh usually always wins because they have a full menu selection(more than just irish food), full bar, and always plenty of seating indoors and outside. I’ve met the owner and his wife on several occasions, these are quality people that serve quality food. My go to foods: Bangers and Mash Build Your Own Burger — Kobe Beef, Fried Egg and Avocado. Yum!

This was a last minute choice off of Unilocal after a long night at Gilroy Gardens. We were out past nine and there weren’t many choices, especially after the first place we went was closed already for the night. We came here as a second choice but I am glad we did. When you come in, it is a fairly large sports bar/restaurant, kinda old school. It is dark and looks kinda like a hodge podge of things put together. It is an Irish pub so it is Irish/British type food and beers. We had stuffed potato skins for appetizer and they were pretty good. Good amount of bacon and cheese, fair number of skins. My daughter had a burger, mother in law the fish and chips, my wife the bangers and mash and I had the sheppards pie. Of the food, the sheppards pie kicked butt. It was fantastic. Well seasoned meat, good amount of gravy to go with the smooth mashed potatoes. I was pleasantly surprised. The bangers and mash was pretty good, same gravy and type of mash as mine. The fish and chips were crispy, not too greasy and I think used cod as it was a pretty hefty fish, great portion. The burger for the lil one was pretty good too. If we were in the area, would definitely go back.

I’ve been coming to The Claddagh since before it was ‘the Claddagh. That’s close to 20 years being a customer. But today was my last day ever going to this pub again,’ I knew the World Series would be playing there this evening and planned on having dinner there and also sneak in a bit of work on my tablet between innings, I wanted to sit up close at a table and found one, but it was set for 4 people. The ones for two or less were the tall pub style tables or the bar, As I have short legs, I do not feel comfortable sitting in tall chairs, so they weren’t an option… and besides I could use the space when using my laptop. Ordered some tea and the Irish stew and settled in for an evening of baseball and brews. The food was brought within a respectable time and I had probably had my last bites about an hour after first getting there. Got the check, paid it, but still had some tea and was going to take out the laptop to do some work when I decided to use the Ladies room. When I got back, I had just gotten seated when another waitress. not the one that had been waiting on me, came up to me and said they had«a lot of people waiting for tables now.» The implication being that I should either, move to the bar or leave to make room for the latecomers. I chose the latter. I’ve been a patron of their facility for many many years, and I know how it gets during sporting events, and that’s why I got there early, so I could get a table. the fact that some people came late and wanted a table should really not be a concern of mine, or affect me. But the waitress coming over and implying I should make room for the latecomers really frosted me, I wouldn’t have mind sharing my table with them or anyone else. but I did not see why I had to move because they were filling up with Johnny come latelys. At any rate, I“ve never had a restaurant or pub tell me to move to make room for people who came late and feel it was quite rude of the restaurant to ask. They’ve lost me as a customer for good.
