El Michoacano Restaurant

We went for lunch and the food was terrible. My wife had a cheese enchilada and the sauce tasted like spaghetti sauce. Our carne asada had no flavor. They barely put any beans on my plate. My wife spotted her Assad out because it tasted like it was rotten. Not going here

This place was a let down. Customer service was ok. They had kids running in the back asking for food (weird). Must be the owners kids (unprofessional). Waiters take their lunch at the front counter which made it very awkward, when your eating and they’re just starring at you. The fish tacos I had were a disappointment, they were cut into pieces and my corn tortilla was undercook (they were falling apart). The whole presentation was sloppy. My husbands ranchero shrimp were ok. Will NOT be coming back to this place again.

I usually don’t like Mexican food all that much but this place is seriously good! The beans & rice that come as sort of a side to an entrée are very good & flavorful. During our 40 minute visit our waitress plus two others asked if everything was good & yes it was! I got the fish enchiladas btw & they were fantastic. Thank you El Michoacano!

This place was so yummy! I love Mexican food and I am very picky when it comes too it! Salsa is on point! The super burrito was huge! It needed more meat in it tho. But it was yummy! And a huge thank you to the nice server that was there. She was nothing but nice only one dealing with 6 tables and managing to clean up tables! Wow! Five stars well deserved!

If you are ever in Gilroy and looking for a nice lil hole-​in-​the-​wall type of place… THIS IS IT… very tasty, been there twice and was happy both times.

Will definitely be coming back. It was delicious! I recommend the Mariscada of you like seafood. Amazing flavor!

Worst service ever never got tortillas for my fajitas and when asked for them it came cold. Micheladas were watered down and expensive. The whole time we felt as if we were being ignored by waitresses every time we asked for anything. Not to mention a cockroach ran across my table while eating my dinner. Food was ok. Not great i can cook better than there cooks

The food here is so authentic and fresh. Never had such amazing ceviche with fresh avocado on top. The chips were fresh out of the oven with perfectly spiced salsa. Got the garlic butter shrimp as an entrée — a little on the heavy side as it was served with rice, beans and tortillas. It’s probably good to share. Overall, definitely a good stop for real Mexican food if you’re in the area.

Not sure why this place got so many high-​starred reviews. Service was okay, not great. Our waitress spoke so quietly, we had to lean in to hear her. My husband ordered a burrito, which tasted decent but was tiny. Much smaller than I’d have expected. I ordered carnitas and was greatly disappointed. Chunks of pork were flavorless and fatty. For some weird reason, there were fries on my plate. Super soggy, saturated-​in-​fat fries. On a carnitas plate. I don’t get it. Lunch for two of us was $ 30. Pretty expensive for what we got. Won’t be back

Stopped by during lunch for a quick bite and could not decide what to get… Everything looked delicious! I had the caldo de res and it was excellent. My friend had the enchiladas and she wanted to pick her plate clean. That’s how good it was. The micheladas looked Yumm, too bad we were working and couldn’t have one. Will be back!

This place was sexy!
Fish, chicken, asada tacos were all delicious and full of flavor.
The ceviche tostadas (both fish and shrimp) were again amazing. And all for an awesome price!
This place needs more reviews because it’s fantastic!

Loved finding this place. Literally in a corner of a strip mall but you feel like you’re in Mexico when you enter. Looks like updated flooring and décor, with tv’s so great when a baseball game is on. It was a little loud with the music but had a festive feel.
Service was fine, huge portions and the food was yummy. Wish we had something similar in Salinas.

SUPER great find with good food and price!

Nice, quiet little Mexican restaurant in Gilroy. The service is great and the menu is pretty broad. I’ve had many different dishes there and all were very good. The portions are generous and they bring chips/​salsa to your table once seated.
The ambiance is dark and cozy and lots of locals visit the place. I’ve only been for lunch but hopefully I’ll be for dinner sometime so I can try the margaritas, too.

Pros: Great food, tons of grilled fresh seafood options.
Cons:
The service was lackluster and could have been better.
We won’t be back to this location– maybe we will try another.

It is now 6÷18÷15 and after calling and talking to the manager twice, counter person twice
and leaving 2 phone messages I have still not heard back from the owner. Apparently he is the only one that can fax me my receipt. Please, call me back and fax me my receipt so I can be done with this situation.

This was a solid 4 star for me on the Mexican side of restaurants… the only thing holding it back from another star for me was the chips weren’t that great, but the salsa was super yummy and the beans were kind of watery. Other than that this place hit all the marks for me… I ordered the chili verde and it had just the right amount of spice for me and was super good… the guy I ate lunch with ordered the lunch sized super burrito served wet and serious this thing could have served a small country it was so big. The only problem with eating here for lunch is I was wrecked for the rest of the day… I was soooo full from eating I sure wasn’t motivated to do anything else. But if you are in Gilroy and wanting some authentic Mexican food where the locals eat this is your place…

LEGIT. WHATEVER IS BEYOND LEGIT… This is it.
This is the best real Mexican food I’ve had since traveling to Mexico City.
I was definitely the only white person in this place… Always a good sign.
