i received a gift basket from harry and david for xmas. love love loved the chocolated covered cherries and the toffee chocolate pistachio thingies. i’ve been in this store twice. once just for drinks cuz i was thirsty and they had some pear drink. and then again cuz i was so curious about their pears. i wondered. how awesome could a pear be to cost almost 5 bucks for 1. so i bought just 1… lol. tip! if u sign up for the VIP club for the outlet. get a coupon book for free($ 5 if u dont print out a coupon after becoming a member) and u get 25% off one item here. so my pear ended up being less than $ 4 but still quite pricey for a piece of fruit. anyway. i just ate the whole damn thing. how they hell is it so juicy? how is it so easy to bite into. i think i’m in love. it was sweet and just a little tart. when i prepared myself for a fight when cutting it. i almost cut myself cuz the knife went through so easily. but also cuz i suck with knives. holy crap is it good! someone go buy me a box of pears right now. i’ll love u forever!

If you know me, I heart chocolate and can’t live a single day without it. I even pack chocolate in my suitcase when I travel because I’m a monster if I don’t get my daily dose of cocoa. Harry and David’s dark chocolate Moose Munch is yum yum in my tum tum. Kinda pricey, but so worth every penny.

Peach Pie! Defrost and Serve! On sale for 50% off. What a great deal for $ 7.47. I didn’t even see tax added to the cost on the receipt. The pie was very good. The crust was delicious and buttery. We had to warm the pie in the oven for over 40 minutes at 350 degrees. Even though the pie was sitting in the car throughout our shopping experience, the inside was still cold after being in the oven for 20 minutes. I guess the pie has to be sitting in room temperature for half a day or something. Regardless, I always love Harry and David products. Very good quality. I even sampled multi-grain chips with dip and a white chocolate covered strawberry. Yum! I swiped my Preferred Customer card to gain reward points to Harry and David.

A little on the expensive side for picking up snack food. I guess I will have to wait for my mom’s gift basket for the next mini holiday. I did get some Valentine’s day truffles discounted 50% the day after just because they were in a red box. Sweet. The snack versions of the moose munch were, umm, interesting. Jalapeño powder up my nose the whole way back from Gilroy. Spicy sneezes.

This is a gift store, where you go to get baskets of mostly foodstuffs to give as gifts. They have a wide assortment of items to include into your gift basket, like some cheeses, special pears and other fruits, nuts, etc. They also have standard gift baskets pre-made at different price points, from $ 20 up to $ 80, and they can make any type of custom gift basket you want. Service is very friendly and helpful. Personally, I didn’t find the right thing, as jelly and jams, nuts and fruits weren’t appropriate for the gift recipient. But they did half a great cheese cake sampler, decorated with festive Christmas colorings/toppings, normally $ 29 but on sale for $ 19. Also, a little hint: know your foreign cultures, particularly Asian. Some Asian cultures have some serious dos and don’ts about the type, and number of fruits you give for different special occasions. So your well intended gift could end up to be an insult! For example, for Japanese, it is traditional to give Mandarin oranges for New Years, but you give 3, never 4(«shin» the number 4, also sounds like«Shin» which implies death) . Vietnamese don’t like pears, bananas and some other fruits as gifts(at least the older generation) because these fruit names have a different negative meaning in another context(like lazy, etc).
