My favorite Mex in town. A little more taqueria, then restaurant in atmosph2… but the food quality?! Outstanding! My go-to favorite for years now I judge all Mexican restaurants by three things, the chips, the salsa and the chili rellanos, great, great, and too notch. Prices can’t be beat. Checked it out… sure to become one if your local go– to favs!

I realized my past post was on Memorial Day and they were super busy. Went for lunch today they had about 7 tables out of 15 full and a world of difference. Food still outstanding as well as salsa. Much friendlier so I moved it to a 5 star. Service still needs a tad of work but I try not to rank restaurants based solely of service. Never know your server may have had a bad day and then you slam restaurant

There hasn’t been anything on the menu that I haven’t like and everyone who works there is so nice

Amazing Ceviche, and Abodaba tacos. A must stop visit when in the area. The tortillas are just amazing. The Shrimp Rancheros has a nice kick to it.

Pretty good burritos and fast service. small interior but food is good with pleasant atmosphere. Adds just another option and depth to local Mexican cuisine in Gilroy area.

Overall: This causal place offers solid Mexican food. Lots of options and good prices. Review is based on weekend dinner. It was pretty busy on a weekend dinner. Seems like lots of local. Services: 4 stars. Food/drinks/Value: — Home made tortilla. — Great salsa and chips — Pescado Frito — LOTS of people ordered this and it looks great. it is a whole fish. — Octel de Camaron — Tasty and big shrimps — Tostadas de Ceviche — This was more shrimp than fish. I was expecting fish ceviche. Still tasty — Carnitas dinner plate — Solid Décor: Causal and lots of seating. Kids friendly: Yes. Gluten Free/Sensitivity: Stick to the corn tortilla. Server said no flour in the corn tortilla.

Pretty bad experience. Do not go here. The food was poorly made and really did not have any taste to it. I would highly recommend going somewhere else. I spent $ 11 on a burrito and it was probably worth maybe three dollars.

Guys working were super friendly. Food was really good. It all tasted homemade. I think I just had my first ever homemade corn tortilla. OMG… so good. Their chicken tacos were delicious. I missed the salsa bar so I’ll have to try that next time. Definitely be back!

The food was delicious & authentic. I tried: 2 sopes & a reg taco(both modified to my vegan eating lifestyle). Customer service; was genuine, kind and very attentive to ones needs. Will def. come back when I’m in the Gilroy area.

We were shopping at the Gilroy Outlets, got hungry and weren’t sure where to go. Based on the average number of reviews for restaurants in the area, it seemed like Unilocal wasn’t used too often out here. We were doubtful but decided to try this taqueria out. It was so delicious! We both got the«Big Tacos». They were made with fluffy house-made tortillas and fresh ingredients. The staff was very friendly and my husband said it was the best Jamaica agua fresca he’s ever had.

I cannot say enough. I’m rating food and service. I’ve been here A handful of times passing through when traveling and I have yet to be disappointed. We recently took a group of soccer players here on a tourney weekend. Called ahead for a table and arrived within 10 minutes and we had our seating reserved(on a busy Sunday). For was AH-MAY-ZING(I know how to spell AMAZING) it was that good! Everyone was talking about the food the entire day and prices, perfect combo! Try it, you won’t be disappointed!

This place is pretty legit! Coming here on a Saturday evening, the place wasn’t packed or busy. The staff are friendly and the place isn’t the best decorated restaurant in the scene but its good. This is one of the few restaurants i have ever been in Gilroy and its good. I tried the burrito and some tacos, they were pretty good. The staff were really friendly and nice. There aren’t much options here so have your luck. I would come here again. Pros: Staff, variety, prices Stars: 4

I wouldnt suggest anyone to eat here. Beans and rice and service are the best to look forward to honestly. People are sweet and great but its just very bland. There are many other places in Gilroy you can get better food. I must admit the location is convenient but do not recommend to eat here. Rice and bean burritos are good, that’s about all. Its a family owned restaurant so I respect that for real.

Very good Mexican restaurant in Gilroy. Family owned. Real friendly. I always get the Chile Verde plate.(pork with green sauce) It’s my go to at the Mexican spots. I love it. It’s very delicious. Only $ 10.99 comes with rice, beans with cheese, and some lettuce & tomato all on the plate. Served with corn or flour tortillas. They serve you some yummy spicy red salsa and chips when you arrive. There is also a small salsa bar with more variety.

Came in to have lunch and I always look up reviews on Unilocal to see how the place is and to know what to order… With that said I walk in looks cute clean not bad. Go sit down order the WET burrito because I saw another Unilocaler post a photo of it and looked so good! So the elder women took our order and didn’t even write it down which I thought was ok she might have been doing this long… Our food comes out and I get a plate with a burrito on it… I ask her«excuse me I ordered the Wet burrito…» She points at it and says si a burrito I look at her and point at the menu«yes wet burrito» then another lady comes and says they need to put sauce on it so she takes it and they just put the sauce no cheese no guacamole no sour cream as the menu says? Um ok… I was not going to argue about it so I just ate it and was not that excited about the flavor in it so I didn’t even finish it(that says a lot coming from a person who hates wasting food!) The chips and salsa were good that’s why I gave 1 star but all in all I will not be returning… Customer service is a lot to me.

Came here on a weekday because I had a craving for Tacos while doing business in the Gilroy area. Ended up ordering Burrito, Taco, and Flautas. Nothing really stood out, maybe what I ordered was not their specialty. I kind of liked the hot sauce and the chips were freshly made. Every table has a bottle of Tapatio. The décor is very colorful, and the murals on the wall look hand painted. My order was for Dine in and there were only 4 other tables with people, yet it took some time to get the food out. This place is OK but nothing really stood out as far as flavor. Maybe I’ll try this place again, till next time…

So I was pretty excited about trying the Mexican food here after reading the Unilocal reviews but I’m sad to report that I wasn’t a fan. My brother really liked the food, but me, not so much. I got a giant burrito with chicken($ 6.50ish) because I like refried beans and rice. We also got a taco to try out with additional food. The burrito itself was blah, no real flavor I felt. Maybe I’ve been spoiled by the food in San Jose? I didn’t get to any chicken until about 1⁄3 down but there was a bunch. Nothing of real flavor, not the beans, rice etc. Taco was eh. There was plenty of street parking available, but I also went closer to 9. Area seemed a bit sketch if I can say. Also I found it a little shady that you couldn’t see anything that the cook was doing. Usually there is a glass wall and one can see everything, but they had their wall all covered up. I could see the cook’s head but that was it. Giving an extra start because they were making fresh tortillas.

Oh, love me a bowl of menudo! This family-owned Mexican restaurant is located in the heart of Downtown Gilroy. I found this place on Unilocal many years ago and it has been my go-to place whenever I’m in Gilroy. They serve delicious authentic Mexican food and everything is made from scratch. I love their homemade tortillas and their salsa is amazing! I recommend their enchiladas, menudo, and burritos.
