This is spot is convenient when in the area. I would come back just because the staff was crazy busy but still attentive and hella friendly. The food was pretty good!

The first time we ate at Sandy’s, we had no complaints. The second time, the oil on the hash browns was rancid. We have not been back since.

My parents and I come from Watsonville to shop at the Wal-mart in Gilroy and we won’t eat anywhere else. The food is excellent and the service couldn’t get any better. Sandy makes you feel like you are family as soon as you walk in the door and her daughter is the best waitress ever. Love the environment and the café was very clean! Recommend this café to everyone in the area.

Friendly staff and great breakfast food. It is my husbands and I go to breakfast place on the weekends. But they don’t just serve breakfast I also love their lunch items! I have to recommend the croissant ham and swiss sandwich!

Friendly and clean. «Chef’s favorite omelette was pretty good but I paid $ 2 for avocado and only found 2, maybe 3 bites of avocado inside. I brought this to their attention when I was done but it made no difference to the bill. I will try them again though.

It’s all about the thick bacon and fresh eggs for me– Yummy! But anything I’ve ordered has been de-Lish. This is a down home place. Lots of locals frequent this café. The Staff is very friendly and the Cook knows what he’s doing. If you’re going to be particular like crispier bacon, a little more done hash browns, etc;just let them know. Sandy is all for customer satisfaction. I’m satisfied. Oh the French toast is a beautiful thing too.

Not clear on what the reviewers giving 4 stars are thinking here. I used Unilocal to find the place when driving through but was really disappointed. Greasy food, there was something gritty/inedible in my breakfast burrito that I had to spit out, and the hash browns were undercooked. In its favor, it was busy w locals midday during the week, always a good sign. And it’s got an Americana diner vibe, no frills and if you’ve got a craving for the greasy spoon you’re in luck. Just not worth the ratings it’s gotten.

I have really struggled to find good food in Gilroy. Someone suggested Sandy’s. It is great food, it’s just a dinner, nothing fancy, but the food that they do make is great. It’s always hot, fresh. The staff is so friendly, including Sandy herself. We come here a few times a month. The bacon is to die for. Waffles very good.

Five stars for Sandy’s Café. My family and I have been wanting to check out this place for a while now, as newbies to Gilroy, we were a little hesitant. However, our first experience(this morning) was hands down awesome! Sandy and her daughter(excuse me for not having her name) were the type of family members you would want as your own. Both ladies were extremely tentative, friendly, caring and worked very well with one another. They went over and beyond for my son who turned three today, bringing him mickey mouse pancakes w. whip cream, singing Happy Birthday to him and bringing him an ice cream sundae(but first asking if he was allergic to dairy;)) and last but not least letting him pick out a lollipop. Thank you ladies for making this morning extra special for our son. Food was good, coffee was good, place was clean, and the timing of the food delivery was about right for a busy morning. Witnessing the friendships they have with their customers will definitely bring us back. Two Thumbs Up!

Just fine! Diner style. Vegie omlet with spinach, mushrooms, asparagus. Hash browns. Would have liked wheat alternative like corn tortillas, but did have pepper plant sauce so all was well! Service very quick and friendly.

I hate to say it but this place has gone downhill. The waitresses used to be great and the service the last few times was sub par at best. The last time will be our last time in for a long time. Our waitress was scatter-brained, kept forgetting everything, got our order wrong twice in a row, kept putting hot stuff right in the reach of my baby in a high chair and we waited an hour and ten minutes for our food. I know there are off days and I’ve worked in the food industry and my fiancé still does but the service is bad now and the lady wasn’t even trying. I’d love to come back at a future date and re-write this review and give Sandy’s 5 stars. Good luck.

Our second time coming here in five years. Stopped here on our drive home from San Francisco and the food was amazing. I ordered the Cajun chicken sandwich with French fries and the sand which was very tasty and a good portion of chicken for the price. Highly recommend this place.

This lil diner is great! Been here a few times. Typical but good diner food, reasonable prices with good portions, and the staff is on top of things whether busy or not. I love this place & the environment and would definitely recommend it to friends. I, myself, will be going again!

Glad we found this place on Unilocal as we were headed home from Monterey. It was pretty easy to find and just off the freeway. I had the corned beef hash breakfast plate and my husband had the Belgian waffle. Both plates were awesome, and we could definitely come back here again to eat the same things. We were especially shocked how soft and tasty the Belgian waffle was.

Just love this place. There’s never a question of where we want to eat out for breakfast, it’s here every time. Quality breakfast, friendly staff, clean cozy atmosphere. Makes me happy just thinking about it.

Great local stop. Looks like a redone Bobs Big Boy. Good service and based on what we had, the food was good as well. We had the grilled turkey. avocado and Ortega chili it was grilled perfectly!

We decided to stop in last Saturday about 6:30 am. We were promptly seated and offered coffee. Both my husband and selected the mini breakfast. One egg, hash browns, choice of bacon or sausage, choice of pancake or toast. Perfect size for us and tasty. Service was prompt, pleasant and they kept our coffee cups full. No skeevy people hanging out — What more can you ask for at 6:30 am?! I’d go back

My hubby and I stopped in here after dropping his vehicle off for service at a local dealership. The place was filled but we waited less than 5 min to be seated. We were greeted with a smile and a great attitude and I can say all the wait staff we met were just as friendly and efficient as the first waitress who greeted us. Our breakfasts were very good. My hubs had the crab cakes and eggs special and I had the 2 eggs breakfast with fruit and a pancake. We both ordered our eggs over medium and they were cooked just right. My husband said the crab cakes were tasty and moist, and he loves crab cakes so if he liked them then they were yummy. My fruit was very fresh and that isn’t always the case at other places. We will be returning for sure. As my hubby said, «It’s always nice to find a new gem».

After a horrible stay at the Motel 1(minus 5 for being so bad) in the adjacent parking lot I’m not sure why I even bothered with this place. Looks like it used to be an old Dennys or a Norms or something similar but that’s where the similarities stop. We were seated by a waitress I’d like to refer as Flo. She had the same charm and whit as the afore mentioned actress(Polly Holliday) We were quickly seated as the joint was pretty empty except for a couple truckers and a group of retirees. So the kids and I cruised the menu and ordered. Pretty usual b-fast menu Items with nothing standing out as a must try. FOODORDERED: Hot Chocolate … All the kids ordered this Apple Waffle … Strawberry Waffle … Bacon Omelet … B-Fast plate … FOODTASTE: Hot Chocolate … All the kids ordered this and I should have too ‘cuz the coffee tasted burnt 3***Stars for the coco 1*star for the coffee. Apple Waffle … I wanted to send this back. But my daughter said its ok dad. It was a cold waffle, with cold canned apples. I reminded her that it is ok to send shit back to the bathroom where it belongs. She ate 1⁄3 and quit. 1*Star Strawberry Waffle … Yet another cold waffle creation from Sandy’s house of cold waffles. My youngest is easily coaxed by these whipped cream covered crap piles, but not me it was another overpriced FAIL! 1*Star Bacon Omelet … Son got this and said it was pretty good. Lots of bacon and cheese. I tried a bite and agree. This one is not half bad. 3***Stars B-Fast plate … Pretty standard b-fast food. How do they screw up over medium eggs? Over cooked and barely warm. The sausages were ok, Farmer John’ish. and the h-browns were the frozen variety 1.5*Stars SERVICE: The waitress(Flo) seemed to care more about the visiting truckers than getting our food to us while it was still hot. She only came to deliver the bill. 1* Star AMBIANCE: Like I said an old Denny’s type of place however we got the«E» ticket ride when as we were leaving several police and paramedics arrived to tend to the tweeker who had OD’d in the doorway of Sandy’s. Really bad scene wacked out with 2 young kids in tow. Good lesson for my kiddos. Just say NO! 1*STAR! Overall I would not return, suggest you avoid as well! Try OD’s just dope food not dopers.
