We were not aware that solis is a smoking winery! We were surrounded by smokers and were informed, that they don’t I force the non smoking law. If you enjoy that, you’ll be fine.

We had a great experience the first time we came… the 2nd time around they were soooo rude. We had the biggest group come in that Saturday and bought tastings and bottles of wine and they told each one of our friends that we didnt have permission to be there, they took our credit cards for payment and were rude and gave us sour faces. We weren’t loud, or obnoxious, or any of that. Two of us contacted the owner multiple times via email and by phone to share what happened and not a single reply back. A couple of our friends are long time residents and they were shocked! As a business owner myself, when someone has a negative experience I feel responsible to at least hear them out and seek out how I can make it better. Unfortunately, this place didn’t have the courtesy to do that. If I could give negative stars, I would.

Solis was our seconds top in our self-guided wine trek a lazy, relaxed Monday afternoon. We were attended to by the tasting room manager himself, and it seemed to take him a while to warm up to us. Maybe it was my wine buddy who might have offended him a bit by telling him what we do at our winery(industry ego, sorry!)…but in the end he was every bit warm, welcoming, and easy to talk to. Their wines all have Italian names, which is reflective of their ownership culture :) I wasn’t a fan of their wines, to be honest. But I loved their location and HUGE open window view. I didn’t enjoy their whites(a bit body-less to me), and found their Rose to be too sweet. But that’s just because of my palette. If you’re into sweet Rose’s, this is the place for you. Their reds had more substance and flavors going on, so that was much more my kind of thing. We were allowed to eat our own snacks, but we couldn’t enjoy them at the tasting bar. We were told to eat them outside or by the standing bars a few steps away from the bar. It wasn’t a big deal, we totally got it! I just wasn’t too fond of their wines and initial prickly service, but their space is quaint and that window view is unparalleled.

We came back! Mom is visiting from overseas and we decided to swing by after a disappointing trip to Sarah’s Vineyard. Funny, last time we preferred that one over Solis; however, this time Solis won hands down. Our wine expert was so friendly and knowledgable. We enjoyed talking with her and tasting the different wines. They still had the Rose Sangiovese on the list and we bought a few bottles this time. Last time I was a bit put off by the $ 10 tasting fee but I have to admit, once you expect it and choose to go back, it’s not such a big deal. I could hardly complain this time as I knew we were paying more than we would at other great wineries in the area. I’d still like to see them match the others in the area like Aver, Sycamore, Jason Stevens. That’s good company in my opinion. I think Sarah’s Vineyard raised their prices following Solis which was a mistake and hopefully Solis are not setting a standard here, we want to be the Napa of the South Bay. The best wineries in Napa rely on the wine not the tasting fee. So to complete the update we really enjoyed this trip and give them another star. The only reason I’m giving 4 and not 5 is because once I deem a winery a 5 star winner I get to join!

Really great wine and service! They also have a cute little patio to sit and enjoy your wine

I really like this place. The people are always so sweet, and really like talking to you. I’m knocking 1 star off for pricing though. $ 10 is a litttttle pricey for a tasting in my opinion. But the wines are great(my favorite was probably the rose) and the location is gorgeous. I like to sit outside while I’m drinking. It’s also closer to Gilroy, and you don’t have to drive as far out to get here.

Don’t start here. $ 10 per person per tasting is steep in the area. It’s nice you get $ 10 off a bottle for each tasting which is the only reason they get 2 stars instead of 1. Service was below par. They pressured us into ordering a bottle but we were only in town and flying out the next morning so it wasn’t practical. We shared a tasting which was a nice gesture and saved us from walking out. They advertise a cheese plate but it’s packaged like a lunchable for $ 17.95. Advice is to steer clear unless you want a discounted bottle.

On a hot Saturday afternoon after spending a few hours at Gilroy Gardens, my friend & I left the kids & hubbys hanging out in the air-conditioned car and ran in for a quick tasting. The views from the tasting bar look out over the deck, a small but lush lawn and the grapevines. They had a tent & grill set up on the lawn and were selling BBQ. I really enjoyed the Fiano(white wine) and bought a bottle of ruby port. They will subtract your paid tasting fee from a single bottle purchase.

Bought a bottle of the vino roseo and some salami, crackers, havarati, and artichoke tapenade for an outside picnic. Parking lot is small so be aware if you’re coming during peak hours. 3 large picnic tables on the side and a seating area in the back of the tasting room. Overall very cute and clean. Enjoyable view of the vineyard and the wine is delicious! Tastings are $ 10pp.

This winery was very unimpressive. Medicore wine and expensive tasting fee for what you get. The one thing that was spectacularly gauche was when they demand you pay their fee before you taste anything, like a fast food restaurant. I could go on but the only other thing I have to write is that the girl pouring the wine knew nothing about seceral of the wines that weren’t on their«daily» tasting menu. Don’t waste your time

The views and scenery at this winery are amazing! Such a beautiful place to try a tasting or to share a bottle of wine. They have lots of seating outside on their patio if you want to buy a bottle here. The wines are pretty good, although not the best I’ve had in the Gilroy area. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable.

My husband and I came to San Martin for a golf getaway from Atlanta. We stayed over at CordeValle which was great, and decided to visit a few wineries. There is no question that Solis was the absolute best one we visited. When you pull up, the building doesn’t look like much. But, then you walk in and BAM! Best view in the area. Every wine was fabulous which is important. But, the highlight of our time there was Gina! She was a true professional who knew not only her vineyard’s wines, but all of the others as well. She was warm, inviting, and made us feel like family. We spent the afternoon visiting 4 other wineries, and no one came remotely close to Gina and her service. We also got amazing Facebook profile pictures taken from their gardens! I highly recommend coming to visit this winery and asking for Gina!

The wine is very good here!!! I love the rose and their seducenta(think that’s how it’s spelled). It was $ 10 for 5 tastings… a bit pricey compared to the $ 5 tasting around this area, but at least you can use that $ 10 towards a purchase of a bottle. The tasting room is a good size and has lots of seating areas. The servers were friendly. The grounds are very nice with a nice view. I will definitely come back for their tasty wines!!!

A delightful tasting room with a gorgeous view of the vineyards and the hills beyond. They have a couple Italian varietals that you don’t see too often in California including a juicy Barbera and a pepper-laced Sangiovese. If its a bit warmer the next time we go, it would be nice to have a picnic out on the patio with the previously mentioned view.

Great relaxing place to sit back and enjoy the scenery and a nice glass of wine. A very non formal and casual place to visit and take a break. I like that you can bring your own little picnic and sit outside on their patio area while overlooking the vineyard. They had a great sale on their Cara Mia cases and I managed to snag a case for myself. They do not ship to Hawaii, but we found a way to get it over. The staff was very friendly and I loved the little cupcake that came with Port as the final taste. If you’re ever in Gilroy, I recommend a quick stop and look around.

Solis makes wine right there on their property and offer bottle parties for their wine club members every fall. I love the view from their tasting room over the vineyard in the back and the beautiful mountains behind it. There is a real friendly, like you’re family feel in the tasting room. They have some of the better heavy and delicious red wines in the area.

We were members of this winery for several years. When we decided to cancel the membership, we went in and made direct request. We were told by the young lady behind the counter, that it will be all take care of. The following month we got another bill for the wine. When we called the place they told us that we have to cancel in writing. We explained the situation and even though they agreed that their employee makes mistakes and they always have to remind her about the cancellation policy, they still charged us for the wine. So, basically we got punished for their employee’s mistake, after being members for years and after they acknowledged it was their fault. The wine is good, a bit overpriced for the quality. The place is nice and offers a pleasant setting.

We were clearly not the staff’s priority and ended up leaving before completing the tasting. What we had already sipped didn’t do anything to help our patience as they lacked depth.

This past weekend some friend and family of mine rented a tour bus and visited all of the participating wineries for Passport weekend. Solis Winery was our first stop. I’m in love with this adorable winery! Everyone was very kind and the wine was delicious! They had a special on a red and a white that was pretty tasty. the price was great, 2 for $ 20.00… SOLD! I also tried their new Port, my mother and mother in law loved the Port too so we had to buy them a bottle as well. I’ll be back, this place was great!
