9 times out of 10 I stop here before hitting the road. I usually pull into a parking spot and order from there — The staff members are always friendly and prompt with my order. I some-what stay away from the food here(with the exception of french fries/onion rings) and stick to the shakes — Banana is good but my all time favorite is the Oreo blast.

There’s no it factor to this place although the food is fresh. Prices aren’t that great and not really worth the drive from San Jose.

No bad, good prices and great burgers Some of the staff members are rude but overall it’s good food for fast food.

Okay food, nothing to get excited about. If you are just passing through Gilroy then it’s a great fun little drive thru for the kids and family.

I’ve been to this location a bunch of times and have always had a satisfactory experience, however, in recent times the quality has taken a dip. For example, today my food looked like it was thrown in the sleeve and turned upside down! It was a mess… management needs to get these youngsters into shape, it was slow on this visit and everyone was acting as if it were a packed house. Will I return, 100% yes, it’s fast food and the quality is consistent with other Sonics.

We made a pit stop and my son got the bacon cheeseburger. 4 hours later he is feeling ill; I spent the rest of the night waking up every hour or so keeping him company as he wretched his guts out. Made for a miserable car ride and first day of winter vacation. I guess it didn’t help that my wife and I happened to be watching the Good Wife episode on the listeria outbreak last night that showed kids throwing up yellow cheese puddles.

Unfortunately we live way too close to this place. To all the negative reviewers out there, it’s fast food people get a grip your not eating at somewhere on Santana Row in SJ. Yes, sometimes it takes time, the place is almost always busy which means your foods not just sitting under some heat lamp. People say it’s disorganized but after 30+ trips here I wouldn’t say more so then any other Taco Bell or burger chain. The staff is always pleasant and the food is hot.

Very disappointing experience here, took an extended time to receive food, and not long after I did the lights over the stalls were turned off at a quarter after 9, I had to turn on my car lighs just to see, kind of a chickens**t move if you ask me. Saw what looked like a manager wearing a sweatshirt looking in the direction of myself and two other cars thinking what saps we must be to patronize this place. Oh yeah, the card readers were busted too.

It’s okay. Not my favorite but not bad. I never choose to go here, but I’ll get something if I’m with a friend.

Good place for milkshakes and random cravings. A lot better quality than your regular drive through. It’s a bit out of the way unless you’re on 152, but still have pretty good food.

I don’t go here often because it’s about 40 minutes away from where I live but when I do, it’s always good! I come here mainly for the huge selection of fruity drinks! The snacks are good too but I prefer something cool and refreshing. You can park and order there, go thru the drive thru window or go to outdoor seating and order from the menu there. The service is awesome and the staff is friendly. What is nice about it too is that the servers are on their skates and delivering you your food. Balancing on skates and holding a tray of foods and drinks is pretty cool. The only place around I know that does this which makes this a unique place. I do appreciate the happy hour as well!

Yikes this Sonic has got to be the most disorganized place ever! We normally go to the one in Napa and this was on the way home from a LA trip so we thought we would grab a quick meal. Nope. Drive thru is held up, we go to the pull up order spot and no one is speaking… we wait… and wait and wait. We look around people are getting service. We go check out the drive thru ok it’s moving. We physically get out of our cars to go to the middle where food is coming out of and there is an order area there and it’s not working so we go back to the car where we originally are trying to order some milkshakes and tater meals! We are trying to get some service! I have no idea how long this circus went on. But yeah the environment just did not feel right. It was a chaotic customer service nightmare. Not returning.

I currently live In a place with no Sonic so I had to stop by when I drove by. I love the cherry vanilla limeade I always get. My bf got the popcorn chicken and onion rings while I got the cheese pretzel hot dog with grilled onions. Popcorn chicken is so-so. The onion rings are crispy and sweet, yum. The pretzel bun was chewy, but I wanted more of a crispier texture so my bad on that part. The onions on the dog were super delicious and I wish they had polish dogs instead. The service was fast for us but I wish they actually gave napkins in the bag.

Ughh, friggin Sonics commericals man… why do they have to make their food look so good on TV, but when you actually do eat it, it really isn’t? I really wanted to like this place, but(almost) everything was just wrong… My bf and I ate out on the patio, so the staff would roll out in their blades while carrying the customers’ food. Since we were sitting at the patio, there’s a menu you could order from, and then a button you can press so someone could take your order… this is where the downfall began… –My bf ordered a number 6 pretzel dog with a pineapple shake and tots and 4 mozzarella sticks. I ordered the sonic burger with tots and a banana cream pie shake… we told her the order would be under JOSEPH’s name… Ten minutes later, one of the staff comes out with food, and for a good two minutes he was yelling out for a Justin… when he finally came to our table, we told him more than likely he’s looking for Joseph, and surely enough he read over the orders, and we confirmed them with him. Ok fine, so I let that go… so when we open up our food, my bf tells me they gave him the wrong hot dog… luckily our server was nice enough to replace it immediately. If that wasn’t bad enough already, my burger was friggin cold in some parts of the burger, my tots weren’t crunchy, and my banana cream pie shake didn’t taste like banana cream pie at all! As much as I wanted to confront the staff about it, I saw that they were super busy, and I myself, was super tired and hungry, so I just let it go. Probably out of everything we ate, the most decent tasting thing we had were the mozzarella sticks… but we only asked for four, and they gave us/charged us for 6 lol… oh yeah, and my bf’s shake didn’t taste like pineapple at all, mostly vanilla with like two small bits of pineapple fruit in it… wtf…lol. This place is more like 1.5 stars though… for the decent customer service we received, but everything else was just blahhhh…

Ok, so quick question… are you supposed to tip the workers when they deliver your stuff? Ok so I have only been here for half priced shakes and have yet to try any of their food. I’ve been eye ballin’ their chili dog though. Looks pretty good. I also never knew they served breakfast all day. The Shakes: The shakes are so thick that your jaw starts to hurt from sucking so much(TWSS). seriously though, they are super thick and taste great. So far I’ve only tried chocolate and banana cream pie. Both are really good, the chocolate may be a little sweet so you may need to take a break and eat it later. The Staff: I’ve only had interaction with them thru the drive thru except for the last time we went there. We parked and had someone deliver our food. I didn’t know if tipping was required and we didn’t… but it seemed like the worker was frustrated that we didn’t… now I know The place: the layout for the drive thru is kind of strange but I guess it only makes sense if the line wraps around the whole building then some. Which would make it difficult for people who got their food to leave. The parking stalls are pretty neat. I like the idea of them. Am I going back?: So long as their shakes are half off after, 8 you betcha. I may even get some food next time for the heck of it

Usually swing by here for trips from San Francisco to Los angeles. The food here is honestly not that great but it serves its purpose of finger food to make the trip there and back more bearable. You order from a drive in machine and they roller blade to you or your car which is pretty unique. I once witnessed employee tripping over on their roller blades so i can see why this job may or may not be fun. I would say the quality of food is between mcdonalds and in n out. I usually get the milkshake and the chicken fingers just to snack on, on the ride. Usually always customers there but the wait shouldn’t be too long. Overall good for some quick grubbin.

I’ve been here quite a few times. I love coming during happy hour because the drinks and the food are always a little cheaper. I also love that you can sit in your car and eat or sit at the tables outside. The drinks are always refreshing, especially in the summer. And the food is always pretty tasty. I love trying the different burgers they have but have fell in love with their chili and cheese tater tots. The tater tots are covered very generously with very hot(temperature) chili and cheese. The service is a hit or miss. I’ve had very fast service but I’ve also experienced having to wait quite a while in my car for the food to be done. For example, today’s service was a little slow. My boyfriend and I ordered a cherry limeade, chili and cheese tater tots, and a corn dog as a small snack on the road. We had to wait a pretty long time for our food even though there weren’t many cars around us.

i’d actually never been to a sonic, ever, in my entire life… until last month! and apparently, i wasn’t alone, b/c my hubby had also never been to a sonic, quite surprising considering how much he loves fast food! we popped in for a quick bite before we hit the shops at the gilroy premium outlet. like all the other customers, we pulled up to a «slot» where we could order through their drive thru-like system(much like when you do the drive thru take out at mcd’s or wendy’s). i ordered what i thought was one of the healthiest items on their menu, the grilled chicken sandwich, minus the mayonnaise. i had actually checked their online menu and nutrition section prior to ordering and saw that this item was low in saturated fat, very high in protein, with a good amount of vitamins a, c, and iron. not bad for a fast food product! after hubby placed our orders, i went to use their restroom, which was at the very back of the building, and while walking back to our car, i saw that the dude on the rollerskates was just skating away which meant that our food was ready! very fast indeed! i opened the wrapper to find a nice size chicken breast with lettuce and tomatoes sandwiched between two pieces of whole grain ciabatta bread. it was actually not bad, a little on the salty side, but otherwise, not bad. the lettuce and tomatoes were fresh, and the chicken itself was tasty. for under $ 5, i really can’t complain about this meal! and i really enjoyed watching the staff skate to and from customers’ cars in their rollerskates, definitely reminiscent of what i’ve seen in 1950s tv shows and movies.

Came here a couple of times and was not impressed at all. The first time we decided to come here we were on the way to the central valley and wanted to get something to eat for the trip, but as we parked in on of the stalls, it took somebody a very long time to even respond to our call box, to the point I was ready to back out and leave. We ordered our food, burgers, fries and drinks. Well the fries were cold and the burgers were tasteless. The positive I can say was the drinks, I have a milkshake while my friend has a slushy, both were very good. We would have to say our experience the second time we came here was much better, but honestly the only reason we came here was for the drinks, we did not order any food. We had to wait but not as long as we did the first time, which was a positive. We did enjoy this trip, but like I said we only came here for drinks, so if you are looking for a quick stop with drinks only, yes this is your place.
