Cheap. Tastes cheap. I think it pretty authentic though.

I absolutely love el grullense burritos, tacos and quesidillas. Yesterday night I went and ordered two super burritos. There was a new girl who is working that day. She took my order and I payed $ 8.35 per burrito. Afterwards without washing her hands I noticed she started making burritos. I asked for the manager and notified him right away! He said that he would let her know. I noticed she made one of the burritos I ordered so I quickly asked the manager to male the other one. They were both super burritos and yet one was smaller than the other one. Sighhhhhh… I didnt notice till i got home. I’ll be sure to request the manager in all my food preparation from now on. Just in case ;-) One reason we come here is because the delicious food and it’s close to where we live. They offer sliced carrots, onions and jalapeños to dress your tacos. SOOO yummy. I recommend trying them on your tacos. Eating in is their specialty. Gilroy has three El grullense. So I do have a choice on which one to go to. If they keep it together it will be here. The El grullense next to Aarons rental on 10th street is excellent too. It’s nice that I can go to both. After this inside I just have to be more aware at this El grullense location.

Service is horrible I got two asada tacos that where drenched in oil. I tried to return them only to be insulted by the lady at the cashier. Lady said what’s wrong and once I explained that they’re too greasy she took them without a word and told the cooks to makes us two more tacos because we complain about nonsense. Within ten minutes I experienced 3 other customers complain about similar things. I don’t recommend this place to anyone

Hands down the best tacos I have had in the south bay. I come here about once a month from San Jose. Yeah, just for the tacos. They are THAT good. Simple, but so delicious. Did I mention they have the best tacos?

The tacos I got had only a few pieces of meat on them. They tasted alright. I’ve been to better tacos places.

We came shortly before they closed on a Sunday night, and the strip mall was pretty dead. They were closing up and had already blocked off the bathrooms but had kept the kitchen open. — Fajitas: shrimp was good and flavorful but a bit greasy — Burrito Al pastor: on the saltier side, which I liked, but it bordered on too salty. Ask for extra salsa verde — Caldo de camaron: made fresh, so it’s very hot. It was a bit under seasoned, but it was good on a cold day, and there are lots of plump shrimp — Quesadilla: too much sour cream and lettuce on top, which cooled it down and hardened the cheese Counter service only. $ 5 minimum for credit cards. I’m not sure I would come back, but it was on our way home after a long drive up from LA.

This used to be our taco spot! Food not cooked the way it used too and I’m just not a fan anymore

Went for first time today. Looked clean, they do all the cooking in front of you which is nice. Language barrier at front counter but I was still able to get what I wanted despite not going off the menu. All in all the st tacos were good, lots of well seasoned Asada meat. Monster tacos were tasty and huge! Cheese quesadilla was good portion. We will be back.

The ONLY reason why they received one star was because the tacos are amazing. They are my favorite whenever I come into town, but they have the WORSTCUSTOMERSERVICE I have ever encountered!!! The front lady they have working the register is rude with the WORST attitude. EVERYTIME we go up to order she is unfriendly, needless to say she doesn’t care about customer satisfaction after the service we received tonight(10−11−15).

The burritos are very bad… Came in here starving, but honestly it was not worth my $ 6. I wouldn’t eat it if they paid me too… The burrito was extremely dry and had so much meat lard.

I only come here for their super yummy tacos. I usually get 6 tacos de carne asada con todo :). hubby gets the same and mixes it up with tripas. Never been disappointed with taste. Service is usually slow but very nice.

This place is HUGE! FOOD: Tostada Shrimp Ceviche — i like the flavor, its lemon-y. but i would like the shrimps the be chopped, not left whole. Shrimp A Diabla —(i believed thats how you spell it, or even say it.) Its pretty good here, the flavor of the sauce is on point, mostly when you mix it with the rice. OVERALL, i like what i ordered for myself, but for all you meat lovers. i cant really review on that because i havent tried it. its worth a try to come here. decent prices too

I have been at this place a good amount of times. Unfortunately, everytime I am pretty disappointed. Starting from burritos that aren’t rolled properly to VERY salty food. Several times our burritos have fell apart very easily while eating. We have bought a meal or two there that I won’t even finish eating because it was sodium packed. Today we had the chilaquilles platter and I can’t say that it was bad but they do need to tone down on the sodium! Haven’t really had a problem with customer service but the Grullense on 10th is way better not only with service but food as well. As far as the restaurant set up it’s a pretty nice size usually very clean.

Holy sodium bomb!!! Nice service. Good flavors. Beans were the star of the meal. Super chile verde burrito(would you like some pork with your salt and sauce?), chips and salsa, Two vegetarian sopes, pescado ceviche tostada, large horchata, and a corona will set you back $ 26. I might try them again if we’re passing through…

My review is a bit negatively biased as we got there right after going to the Gilroy Gardens expecting a light show but was surprised(our fault for not investigating) that it’s a kid’s theme park. Anyway, by the time we got there, we were hungry and I was pretty grumpy. The establishment was big but looked very much like a fast food place with the bland tables and chairs. We ordered several tacos de lengua and a burrito with carnitas. The tacos were quite good but the burrito was dry and I couldn’t find any salsa to go with it(therefore the low rating). It was also kinda cold but I understand, as it was late and very few people were inside.

AVOID. Super burrito has lettuce(wtf?) and cheese inside is COLD? And rolled so loosely that it falls apart? No pico or salsa inside? Why? Salsa is watery and looks like it came from a can, thickened with starch or gums. Fail. Tacos are small and extra extra extra greasy, and I’ve eaten a lot of greasy tacos. These were sopping wet with oil. Gross. At least the stomach ache was free.

On our way to Sarah’s Vineyard this weekend and I was in the mood for a quick bite to eat before doing some tasting. Always helps to have a little something in the belly before pouring in wine. With a quick search on Unilocal for«taco» nearby as I got off of 101, El Grullense came up with the best score so I stopped in. Talk about fast — in and out within 5 minutes with a hot carne asada burrito in a brown bag to go. Once at the winery, I spent even less time chowing through it. It reminded me of the burritos I used to get at the taco trucks in Modesto. Perfectly cooked meat, not too spicy, but not wimpy either, and the right ratio of beans and rice. I think this may become a routine stop.

My friend and I came in here for a «to-go» lunch. She’s never had a crappy experience here nor been disappointed with the food. I had no doubts. Today, however, was quite the contrary. The people at the counter were friendly and spoke perfect English. The young man putting the order together appeared to be inexperienced. He kept consulting another woman obviously skilled at cooking(based on my observation) about how long to leave it in the fryer. I believe it was Mortalla? Anyways, it came with rice, salad and refried beans. A sweet deal for $ 11 right? Yes could have been but no. At first I thought the fish was good with the first warm bite. I kept eating only to realize it was overcooked, dried out and not very fresh. Rosarita canned refried beans taste better than the watery refried beans which came in a tiny proportion. The Spanish rice was pretty awful too. It didn’t taste right. The flavor was off with some weird sweet flavors in it. I only finished the salad and threw away the rest. I ordered three carne asada tacos for my friend and asked them to put everything on it. Why the order came back completely screwed up is beyond me given there was almost no one in the restaurant at the time to confuse them. My friend said it didn’t even taste like carne asada, didn’t see the cilantro and onions in there but eventually noticed some fragments of these ingredients mixed in the meat haphazardly. How can you screw tacos up when you speak and understand perfect English? I’ve gone to places where they don’t, and the order turns out fine and absolutely delectable! Needless to say, we both came to the conclusion that nothing tasted right. I believe all the food was old and on its last leg. Hers was so bad, she threw everything away too. But wait! There were some good things about this place! Yes, the pickled carrots were yummy, and the tiny salad that came with my fish was quite good too! I can honestly say this is the worst Mexican food I’ve ever tasted. No Mexican joint has ever touched that statement. Taco Bell can even do it better! I surely won’t return, and I doubt she will anymore either as a Gilroy resident. There’s so much good Mexican food out there. I can see this place going under if they continue to serve such old, substandard food.

No chips though??? Super carne asada burrito, no cheese and no beans. Pretty good flavor, big size but wayyyy too spicy for my taste buds — burned, my tongue! But I was so hungry I kept eating anyway. My friend ordered the carnitas super burrito and it was a lot better — meat was much more tender and less spicy(…at least I think it was…) My other friends ordered a bunch of stuff and it all looked delicious too! Lunch between a group of 4 was fairly inexpensive! 3 super burritos, 2 tacos, 1 quesadilla, 1 sope and 4 drinks under $ 40! Great little hole in the wall and clean too. Everyone was very nice. Perfect way to end a road trip along the coast weekend! :)
