Tom and his wife are retiring this month. I’m sad to see them go but my wine cabinet has never been more full. In the past month, I’ve snagged two cases of their Apricot Wine($ 60 a case. Christmas is coming and this fruit wine that is not overly sweet makes a great gift), a case of Zin and a couple of bottles of their hand-corked Sparkling. This was before they announced the big sampler sale which ends December 1st. I haven’t decided which I’m going to take advantage of yet but I’m confident at lease one is coming home with me. It’s my pleasure to help them clean out their stock! Sampler Case«A» Sale Price 8 Btls. Small, but pleasantly personal. Thomas is so knowledgeable and shares it. I liked almost everything I tried. And very reasonable prices!

This winery is well worth your time. I love volunteering for his grape picking events and getting a half case of Gilroy Red and a homecooked meal and a liberal tasting for the effort. You come home full of garlic, wine and sun. Another good one is the Bring Your Own Bottle event. Good, happy, affordable wine made by a warm and wonderful family.

Let’s be honest. We were just swinging by this winery, on the way to Gilroy Outlet. Driving a few miles away from 101 into the residential area, starting to wonder, if google was completely wrong, we found a small sign«Wine tasting here» Tasting room consists of portable office table in the warehouse like building with some barrels and cases of wine bottles around. We were greeted by a very warm and hospitable consultant, who was also very informative. Here we found, simple, honest, clean tasting wine at very reasonable price. We liked Rose, especially. Perfect for everyday drinking wine, also goes with any salad. We left the winery feeling very civilized and educated. Tasting fee for 2 was credited toward a bottle of Rose purchased. System which used to exist in the past, when Wineries were just wine places, not yet theme parks. Thomas Kruse Winery. No frills. No nonsense. Just great wine at good price.

Nice little place, doing tastings in the barrel room. Very friendly staff and good wine. Off the beaten path but worth the effort.

What a wonderful find on the east side of Gilroy. This place is all about the passion of making wine — no bling to pull you in just big local wines. You gotta check it out…

Love this wine. I am a red drinker and thrilled with his Merlot(my favorite) and also the blends. The blends change all the time and I have never had anything even close to mediocre. The price point is GREAT. I have taken his wine as gifts to wine snobs and they rave about his wine.

Stopped in to see this very nice looking winery, and Thomas made us feel as if we were long lost friends. After a quick pour we were escorted to the vineyard for a tremendous informational on how Thomas grows his vines. Very educational, learned plenty from the visit including bottling knowledge. Thomas was upbeat, energetic and makes fantastic wine! His friends and dog were just as welcoming, I will definitely return when in the area.

Swedish American meeting event is going on. Um hello I am swedish and I have to like this winery just because that. Actually that is a total lie I am swedish but I don’t have to like anything it is really the work of Carly who took the time to answer all my questions describe the wines tell me about the events and joke about the Fry’s event. Seriously what sold me on this was the customer service and I am ever so intrigued to try some jelly there… can’t wait for payday

Conveniently located in a place where it was a quick and easy pick up of our favorite bottle of red. We’ve done passport tasting in the past and this bottle of red hits the spot for us. Very laid back and fun as we visited. Surrounded by the wine barrels elegantly displayed within the facility and the great service provided by the staff was awesome!

I loved it! I went there during a passport tasting weekend and was delighted with the atmosphere. Very down to earth yet still elegant. It was fascinating being right in among the wine barrels. I didn’t feel like they were turning their noses up at me like some of the other wineries we visited that day. We hung out there for a while and were treated very well. I really enjoyed myself and would love to go back sometime soon.

Laid-back, fun and fascinating and the words I would use for this winery! It’s a little hard to find, so be sure to look out for their little white sign. Drive VERY slowly! There are tons of squirrels and their puppy, Milly, will run out to the parking lot to greet you. She’s very sweet and friendly. There isn’t a designated tasting room. You actually are welcomed right in to the wine laboratory! As we tasted the wines, we were invited to wander around. Thomas Kruse himself was there! He was injecting Cuvee into the sparkling champagne and freezing out the yeast. It was fascinating to watch. He was extremely friendly and welcomed our questions. This is definitely a family operation. The snobbishness and pretentiousness of other wineries is not present here. Their wines were beautifully crafted and had a great depth of flavor. The wine is stunningly inexpensive. Their case prices have recently been cut in HALF! Their blush wine is $ 4 a bottle when you buy a case. I loved this winery! Their location was my favorite of the day. They have a table of vintage wine tools so you can see just how far they’ve come. It’s a must-visit for anyone in the Gilroy area!

Located on the East side of the valley, away from all of the other wineries, is this unpretentious, honest family winery. Thomas Kruse is usually there to chat with people, as he did with us. The winery itself is spartan and utilitarian. Not more than a shop with wine barrels, but the setting is pretty. Thier Cabernet Sauvignon and Zinfandel are the bright spots. and how can you beat a 50% discount on a case?
