Great Hot and Sour Soup and excellent service are the reasons why you should try this restaurant. The prices are very affordable if you are looking for a place for an inexpensive date night or lunch.

Nice little restaurant with good service and low prices. The egg drop and wonton soup had great flavor but I passed on the crab rangoon which had a more liquid consistency. Good food otherwise. A nice place to stop by for a quick lunch but nothing to rave about.

This is our favorite Chinese in Kansas City! Food wise, they do a fantastic job. Very flavorful, very good meat and veggies, and impressive presentation. Atmosphere– simple and quaint in the way of decoration, but energy-​wise is off the charts! The people that own the shop and employees are just the KINDEST and most sincere people you will meet in your life, let alone in the food service industry. They let you enjoy your food, but are very attentive, and are just obviously doing their best to provide the best experience. And they do a five-​star job.

The little things make a big difference at Hunan. I’m new to the area and still haven’t found my Chinese «spot» but Hunan is definitely in the running. They do little things to make the experience unique even though the generic formula of «strip mall» Chinese is expected. Go find out yourself how little things can make a big difference at Hunan Garden.

Friendly people, great service, good (and inexpensive) food. I definitely recommend giving them a try.

My husband and I decided to stop here the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, not wanting to cook. So glad we did! Everyone else had the same idea, but the owners were so nice and accommodating.
We both got the Hot and Sour soup and it was delicious! I had the Mu Shi Pork and my husband had the pan fried noodles. Mine was very good, but I must admit, I had a bite (or two) of my husband’s and WOW! One of our new favorite Chinese dishes!
Then, along with our fortune cookies, they gave us both a little piece of Mango cake with a little turkey on a toothpick sticking out of it for Thanksgiving. So nice!
There were several tables around us where you could tell were regulars and the owners/​staff treated them just like family. Very neat and refreshing to see.
We’ll definitely be back!

Do not miss this place. The food is made fresh and the service is excellent.
This is a regular spot for many of us living in the area and we are all treated like family.

My husband and I went to Hanan Garden for the first time tonight. Great atmosphere, great service and best of all the food was delicious. We had general tao
chicken was very good. We are looking forward to trying other entrees.

My first time here and it is amazing. My picky kid literally ate off everyone’s plate and was excited trying new foods. The service was wonderful, the ladies were attentive and polite especially with my indecisive picky eater. The servings are enormous and flavorful. The décor is simple and tasteful. Prices are less than what I’d expect given the portions. We will definitely be returning again. Thank you to Hunan Garden for such a wonderful experience.

Tried it for the first time. Got it to go, which was not a long wait. I had Chicken Fried Rice and it had little to no chicken, tasted slightly over cooked and had pieces of shrimp in it. I also got the egg drop soup and it was ok but needed more flavor. The crab Rangoon was very thick and a little sweet for my tastes. The egg rolls were more spring type rolls but the steamed dumplings were delicious. The price killed me though. Will not be returning. Unless to get just the dumplings.

Came back for late night dinner on a Tuesday night called at 8 Pmdinner was ready at 8:10 PM. I ordered the curried chicken. This is officially my new favorite meal at this restaurant. I like spicy food and this is a very spicy dish cooked properly the chicken was not dry and overcooked it was tender and juicy and very spicy. I loved it there are some of the dishes that I have tried at this restaurant that I did not think they did well. But they know how to cook curry chicken. This is a very clean and well organized Chinese restaurant the people that work there put in long hard hours they’re very friendly and polite and efficient. I recommend giving them a try however you can check my previous review there were two or three recipes that I did not think worth eating. But I’d like the general chicken the orange chicken in the curried chicken. Oh yeah and they’re open till 930 that’s cool how convenient

We love this place. Our food is always, well prepared and the service is excellent. Best thing, is that they always greet you with a smile. :)

Hunan Garden is by far mine and my husband’s favorite Chinese restaurant to eat!
First, the owners and their staff are wonderful. They are typically the first ones to greet you at the door. Smiling faces and eager to serve you. The service is top notch and define the meaning of ‘family owned.‘
The food is always fresh and piping hot. You know that they cook to order because we often request our order to be custom.
My husband usually gets the curry chicken without water chestnuts. They don’t complain one bit about our custom order! In fact, they usually know exactly what we want, down to the extra sauces!
Don’t miss the egg drop soup, as it’s the best I’ve had! The broth is perfection!

Stopped by here after picking up a craigslist item in the area. This is so far from where I live and yet after trying the food I plan on making a trek back. Hands down THE best Chinese food in KC. Completely unexpected since its in a strip mall but once you walk in you can smell of the authentic Chinese goodness. I tried the Lo Mein and the chicken and black bean sauce. Both were incredible and plenty to share with my family.
I will be back and hoping they open one in Overland Park.

I was greeted by a very pleasant staff, seated with a menu and ordered a $ 6 meal that included soup and two sides. It came out in 3 minutes and was amazing. What more could you want???

Good Chinese food. I eat there regularly and their food is consistently good. The owners/​staff are friendly and attentive.
My favorites are the steamed dumplings and combination fried rice.

I’ve always eaten there at lunchtime and they never disappoint! The owners are lovely and friendly folks and seem sincerely happy we visit.
Prior to this location opening, we often visited the Liberty location. This location is much more convenient for us and near our home.
Food is always tasty and portion size is generous. Excellent value for the price!

Our family has eaten here several times since opening. The food and service has been excellent every time. Very friendly staff. This restaurant is just like the one of the same name that is in Liberty. Well, except that it is brand new and has small fish in the fish tank.
Hunan Garden has the BEST Springfield Cashew Chicken I have ever had. I hate to order anything else so am glad others in the family are more open minded to trying other dishes. Another great dish is the 8 Treasures. My daughter gets the Bo Bo Platter for her dinner and I get a few of the «extras». Crab Rangoon are excellent as is the Egg Drop soup. Other daughter would eat white rice for every meal so she likes it as well.
Prices are in line with what you would expect at a sit down Chinese place. Portion sizes are large and we always have leftovers. I believe Hunan Garden has become our «go to» Chinese restaurant.

Second trip here this week, food is amazing and fresh. Even had bo bo platter and was very good. Staff is excellent as well. No complaints what so ever. All the other customers were also telling staff how excellent the food was! Will be returning again :)
My advice for the person with the bad review is to not order a bo bo platter to go, that’s meant to be eaten immediately and not be taken home…
