I go to Max Amore a lot and I truly love their food. The starter bread with special tomato sauce, Veal Milanese, Bombolotti Ai Modo Max, Chicken/Veal parmesan… I can eat a whole basket of the soft bread with their tomato sauce if I no longer care about calories. I almost ordered Veal milanese every time, if I don’t order it I’ll feel like I’m wasting one chance at Max. The bombolotti ai modo Max is also tasty, and you can switch to any type of noodles you want, same for Milanese or parmesan. I am not a fan of their scallop dishes though, portion is too small, and scallop gets burnt sometimes. For dessert, I’ve tried tiramisu, sundae, cream brûlée. They gave us huge portion of tiramisu, not sure if that was a nice mistake by the waiter. Cream brûlée was good as well, but for ice cream, I think there was too much cream. I don’t have much experience on Italian food, since I prefer Asian food and don’t eat Italian much, but I do love them. They are totally worth trying!

Great service, not so great food. The service was great, very accommodating. They were able to change the sides no problem and make any substitutions as desired. The manager was great and made sure we were happy before leaving. The calamari was great, but I wish I stopped eating from there. The salmon was burnt the greens in the salad was not as you would expect from the menu. Pasta dish was good, not great but no complaints. Probably would not come back any time in the foreseeable future. If you want to come here I recommend going with the pizza. Those did look good.

This place has an awesome gluten free menu. The biggest I’ve seen compared to other restaurants. They even have gluten free rolls and croutons which I appreciated. The gluten free pizza is delicious. The side of Brussels sprouts were good but could have cooked 2 minutes longer. The salad was also very good. My husband got the veil which was big enough for 3 meals. Lastly, the service was good too. Will be back again.

I have never met a Max restaurant I didn’t like and this one is no exception. I love the atmosphere of this one and the service, a keystone of all the Max restaurants, is stellar. The outside tables in good weather are a favorite to meet people for lunch. I have yet to try the brunch but it is on the to do list. Dinner, however, because of the delicious but rich food is what keeps bringing me back. I have several favorites here. The listed salads and appetizers are pretty average so I recommend instead having a magnificent stone pie(the Pollo Alla Genovese and Classic Magarita are my favorites) or the Potato Butternut Gnocchi as a shared appetizer. These are unique and wonderful creations where the other appetizers are just variations of what you can eat anywhere else. Not saying the listed appetizers are not good, but why settle for good. These are scrumptious. For a meal, I generally go for the Teddy’s Sunday Gravy, a variety dish of rigatoni, hot sausage, meatball, and truly outstanding short rib. A nice but large portion. The Bombolotti Ai Modo Max, which is baked rigatoni, hot and sweet sausage, and tomatoes and peas in a delightful cream sauce is also a favorite. I would also recommend you do not bypass the Rigatoni Bolenese if looking for a more standard dish as this is one of the best meat sauces you will ever taste. If you want something other than a pasta dish, the veal and chicken are outstanding. I cannot comment on the fish and steak as I tend to go to fish and steak places for those! But one standout is the veal parmigiana. Though not on the menu, they have always made this for me when I asked and, outside of home made or the North End of Boston, I have never had better. The sides are all good bur the rabe, if you are a fan like me, is outstaning. Dessert here is good, though not memorable so, if I have any appetite left, I go with the biscotti and a rather exceptional cappuccino or macchiato. So, why four stars only? The food is served warm but never hot. I like hot. Nit sure why the temperature is never quite right. But the flavor, the service, and atmosphere are top notch so I highly recommend this place.

Went on a Thursday night which lucky for us was ½ price bottles of wine. For a party of seven, our server did a great job remembering what we liked and being attentive. My max bombolotti sauce was a little runnier than it normally is but the bread, olives, roasted garlic, marinara, etc all were consistently excellent and nice additions to the meal.

You cannot go wrong here! They have something for everyone in the family. Good for kids or a date night. I have never had a bad drink or meal here. The service is always superior the staff knows the menu front to back. You can get a wood fired pizza, great pastas(some are made in house), seafood, or meat. The only downside is parking the plaza can be a challenge, and getting a table with out a reservation on a busy night will likely require a wait. They have take out and it travels well. If you are in Glastonbury and need a sure thing this is your spot.

Okay, this place definitely deserves a better rating than 3 and a half stars. It may be that it’s the older ‘ugly stepsister’ when being compared to the super trendy newer Max Fish right next door or the other restaurants in the group that have the swanky downtown locations(Trumbull kitchen, max downtown, max burger, max’s oyster bar). It’s also definitely a bit less pricy, depending on what you order. Yes, it’s often the same menu options and not the hugest selections, but it’s a reasonably priced place for an upscale restaurant with a nice upscale bar. The Italian Food is so consistently delicious! It’s not Olive Garden, folks! Our usual MO is to make a reservation on open table and arrive promptly. We are usually seated without a wait and we request comfortable seating in a booth. The servers are knowledgable and helpful, sometimes treating us to little extras. We love starting with the complimentary scrumptious focaccia bread and fresh garlic. They also provide a dish of yummy black and green olives in olive oil. Be careful not to fill up on the bread, as the portions are nice. Try the baked pasta dish«bombalotti»(its da bomb!) I’m partial to their soups, as I’m not a big eater. That leaves room for fresh made desserts, if you’re so inclined. It’s always a nice relaxed experience.

Love the polenta croutons in the Tuscana salad. It’s a nice casual environment and the staff is very nice. It’s a nice place to enjoy a casual lunch while shopping or running errands

Had not been to Max Amore in a while. Dinner with friends and it did not disappoint. Had 6:45 reservations and we were seated right on time, despite the fact the restaurant was packed. Our server was very good and always there when we needed him. I had the crab risotto, which was excellent. My husband had Teddy’s Sunday Ragu, which has been on the menu for a long time and a favorite! I would highly recommend this restaurant. Great vibe and great food!

I’m a fan of the Max Group of restaurants. This was my first visit to Max Amore to celebrate a belated mother’s day with my mom and I am impressed. I had high standards for this visit that I’ve come to expect from Max Restaurants and I was not let down. Our waiter was very personable and made some great recommendations. We had ordered: Appetizers: 1. The Assorted Artisan Salumi Sampler. This consisted of prosciutto di parma, speck, capocollo, and sopressata. The cured meat was wonderful and not too salty or too tough. 2. Calamari Fritti 3. Burrata Di Amore 4. Melanzana Portafoglio– This appetizer was made of crisp breaded eggplant layered with smoked mozzarella and oven dried tomatoes over tomato butter sauce. Entrees: 1. Teddy’s Sunday Gravy 2. Wood fired pork rib chop 3. Mahi mahi special 4. Seared sea scallops: Desserts: 1. Ricotta cheesecake with ginger crust 2. Teddy’s Amarena Cherry Sundae 3. Baci Ball 4. Biscotti 5. Max a Mocha Now, you may be wondering how 2 people were able to eat all of the above but we had help from my brother and my girlfriend! Appetizers: In our appetizer round, the calamari was light and fresh and not too heavily breaded. Delicious golden rings as they should be! The burrata was creamy and indulgent and the cured meats were not overly spicy so as to ruin your palate for the later courses and not too salty. Entrees: Each was cooked to perfection! Teddy’s Sunday Gravy was definitely a treat and tasted like something my Nonna would make! The pork chop is near the top of my favorite pork chops that I’ve had! Tenderness and flavor that rivals the best! My girlfriend had the Mahi Mahi and when it comes to fish, she’s an expert! Originally from Hawaii, she’s used to the freshest catch of the day and has eaten it frequently. If it can impress her, it can impress anybody! The seared sea scallops are a favorite dish of my mom’s and this was in her top 3! All in all, the dishes were all executed well with presentation, flavor, and textures all nearing a 10 of 10. Desserts: And what does one do after eating a hearty meal preceded by appetizers? Well, if you’re brought up in an Italian household, you eat some more! My brother had the Max a Mocha with Biscotti consisting of Kahlua and dark crème de cocoa. He loved the drink. I had Teddy’s Amarena Cherry Sundae which delighted me first, visually, and then with flavor! This is definitely a dessert big enough for sharing! This brings us to the next dessert that my mom had, the Baci Ball. Hazelnutand chocolate covered gelato, crème anglaise. Delicious and novel! My girlfriend had the ricotta cheesecake with ginger crust. I’m a huge fan of ricotta used in many different ways and this was definitely a nice refreshing treat. The ginger crust contrasted nicely with the filling and it was easy to eat way more of this than you should! Overall: I liked the ambiance and the service.(and of course the food!) Our waiter was friendly and sociable and knowledgeable about the menu. We enjoyed dining here and we will be back again!
