Hidden gem, the sushi was very good for this area and the waitress was awesome. Helped us order, very attentive, and extremely friendly!

Very tasty sushi. Everything was perfectly seasoned and sauced. The service is great as well. The all you can eat option is nice too. It’s downstairs in an old converted mall shopping center.

As far as all you can eat sushi goes, Min Ghung is definitely a cut above the rest. The fish variety you get here is far more than the competition. Even the appetizers stand out with whole BBQ squid and the giant fried oysters. However, my main complaint would be that they don’t offer straight up sashimi, rather, all of their fish is served on rice. They also charge extra if you don’t finish. While I understand this, there are a few places that do offer pure sashimi. Additionally, this place can be very difficult to find. Tucked away in a new, half empty shopping center, it took us a solid 10 minutes to eventually stumble upon this gem located next to a dance studio. Location aside, if you’re looking to devour a large amount of fresh fish without breaking the bank, Min Ghung is the place to go.

One of our favorite sushi spots. It’s in a weird spot and was hard to find the first time, but it is so worth it. We’ve been here many times now and the service is always great and the sushi is always fresh and delicious. We’ve gotten the all you can eat several times which is a great deal if you’re super hungry and a good chance to try their amazing special rolls. We will keep coming back for the awesome food and service.

The food is fresh, looks beautiful and tastes just as good. It’s a little hard to get to, but it’s got a good atmosphere with a great selection of sake.

Love this place! Great Japanese in an eclectic setting! While Min Ghung ’ s regular menu has so much more to offer, the all you can eat option is a great bang for the buck! AYCE offerings are much better than your«average» Japanese restaurants and come with an exceptional presentation as well as fresh and delicious sushi. A welcome change to a proven establishment!

I’ve been to many sushi places and this was an excellent choice. Tonight, Wednesday’s are free saki bomb at 7:30. We all got one shot and a beer. Yelled out saki bomb 3 times and drank for 20.00 off for first one finished. Very fun atmosphere. I’ll be back

Went there with the $ 18(for $ 30 of food) Groupon. The deal is even better on weekdays. $ 15 for $ 30 of food. It is located in the Glen Locken Mall in Glastonbury. You really can’t call it a mall. It is a older complex that never really took off and been in different stages over the years. The restaurant décor and wood work could use some updating, but overall it is a very pleasant place for a nice dinner or lunch. I ordered the Steak Teriyaki dinner and my lovely wife order three different rolls. Everything was delicious and the portions were generous. I am not sure if I would go back for a full price dinner but the Groupon was worth it. Like another sushi place in Glastonbury they are offering an all you can eat option. It is probably a good deal but it seems so tacky to shove you face with sushi and they charge you for leftovers. You cannot use the Groupon on the all you can eat. If you want Sushi buffet I know a great place in NYC and it is worth the trip(6 E 32nd St, New York, NY). Some of the bad Unilocal reviews seem to be based on service. Our server was ok but nothing to write home about.

I’ve come here before and have had a very good experience. However, the last time I came here was on a Saturday night and it was very busy. My group of 5 had to wait 3.5 hours total for the food we ordered, and they felt bad so they gave us a 10% discount, which was literally only $ 2.50 off. It’ll be a while before I ever come, that is if I decide to give them another chance. The pros of this place is their friendly staff, fried ice cream and good sushi, but the cons is the wait time because they are so under staffed. I would rather go somewhere else than wait another 3.5 hours to get only $ 2.50 off.

Definitely a hidden gem. My favorite sushi restaurant in the area. The sushi is consistently good… fresh and creative. And their all you can eat deal can’t be beat! The only negative is the service… which isn’t very warm or friendly. But, that won’t keep me away from this place!

It is actually painful to write this review about a restaurant I have frequented as my local favorite for the past several years but I cannot, in good conscience, leave up my glowing prior reviews. Realizing that it takes a lot to change an opinion based on incredibly good food, personal attention from the manager, and fine service, I am unable to recommend this restaurant any longer. On two recent visits, I had to ask for food missing from my order. One was an all you can eat meal and several times ordered items were missing. My water glass was never filled and it was impossible to get the attention of the waitstaff. Service was slow and not attentive. But what pushed me over the edge was a day I stopped in for lunch and I was brought a different meal than I had ordered. When I told the waiter of the error he argued with me. After spending too long trying to get him to remedy this, I reluctantly ate a meal I did not order because I needed to return to work and did not have time at lunch to continue to argue. Again, no attention, empty water glass. I contacted the management several times and got no response. My wife did as well. Again, no response, Service is horrible and I cannot accept that at a restaurant. Also, I want to eat the meal I order, not what a waiter mistakenly brings me. But to be ignored when lodging a legitimate complaint to the management of a restaurant I have patronized more than once a week for over two years, that is inexcusable. And, if they treat a frequent customer, perhaps their most frequent customer, in this manner, how do they treat the other diners. I rescind my prior recommendations and encourage patronizing establishments that value their customers,

Yes, you have to get lost the first time(turn left when you enter from the parking lot!), but it’s worth the hunt. Min Ghung is definitely one of the best Japanese restaurants in Min Ghung. The menu is large, focusing mostly on sushi, but you can get a great udon, katsu, or tempura, as well. They also have two pages of lunch specials. I’ve had two great sakes here, as well.(They can give you good recs based on your tastes.) As you can see from a lot of the photos, the presentation is really wonderful, and the portions are great. I’ve left stuffed every time! I love the casual yet special atmosphere of the restaurant. It feels like *my* neighborhood restaurant while still being top notch. The people who work here are also very kind. It’s always a nice treat when we come here.

Wow, the best sushi restaurant in the hartford vicinity. I have been looking for a relatively decent place for fresh sashimi and had pretty much given up until I stumbled on to this place. They serve fresh sashimi that is delivered frequently from its various sources, I love the fact that they offer Spanish mackerel and a variety of fishes that are different from the usual tuna and salmon. I ordered the love boat and it was amazing. The service is also great! Hot towels are offered to wipe your hands and hot tea is also available. Look no further if you are craving fresh sashimi, this is the place! I highly recommend this anyone that wants fresh quality sushi. Note this place is located in a plaza/large building and you need to go downstairs to find it, but it’s so worth it!

Came here on a Groupon this time. Sushi was still great and there seemed to be more people around. They also have a private room in the back that I didn’t mention before and this time, a group was back there. They still had the unique special rolls listed up on the wall near the bar, which is sad because my girlfriend was interested in trying something new this time. … But we were too lazy to get up. :p So for food, we got our classic rolls: eel avocado, California, spicy tuna, and spicy salmon. Rolls were all delicious and fresh. We also tried the chicken teriyaki dish. The chicken was juicy and tender, and there was plenty of the delicious teriyaki sauce. If I’m back here, I would probably get it again. Definitely worth the money though. Oh, and a little clarification of their VIP program. Each time you pay, you get 10% of your purchase as points. These points can be applied to your next meal. A little different than what I expected.

Similar to other Unilocaler’s reviews, this place is a hidden gem and kind of odd to get to. Tucked way in the Glen Lochen Marketplace, once you find the restaurant you walk into this Japanese inspired environment with Sake bottles displayed on the walls to paper lantern lights hanging from the ceiling. My group arrived around 7:30pm on Tuesday for some sushi. The place was comfortably busy with four other tables when we first arrived and seven to eight tables packed when we setttled up around 9pm. The service was quick and informative regarding the menu. Our group got a special roll– Summer– and the Bonzai along with a spicy tuna, sweet potato and shrimp tempura. All of the rolls came out quickly and the plates were dressed with a pretty«floral» pattern on them. As a whole the group liked the Summer roll and the spicy tuna the best. For the amount of food and the cost this place will be on my list for sushi!

Unfortunate. So sorry to have to say this. This used to be our favorite local sushi stop in the area for the last few years. We’ve been here countless times with and without family and friends. We’ve spent probably a thousand dollars or so over the years and for that we definitely had some wonderful experiences. That seems to be in the past now. Unfortunately as of late, there seems to be some transition going on. Communication was lacking and service dipped terribly, was even rude?! And to well known long time customers, too. Even delivering wrong orders and nastily refusing to believe us?! Oh, no! The hubby just gave up and ate the wrong food! Also, the bathroom is now closed and they tell you to leave the restaurant and use something in the outside hall. That’s not the worst thing, but just another change for the worst. Not sure what is going on, but we will steer clear of this formerly fine establishment until the smoke clears. So Unfortunate.

Took me a while to find it, hidden in the pretty Glen Lochan building. Was in the area, stopped by for lunch. Mostly because I was hungry, love sushi and I needed free wifi. Wasn’t busy in here but there were a few other people and I noticed orders to go. Menu is quite diverse with lunch and dinner specials, noodles, rice. Ordered a three roll combo for lunch. The sushi was delicious and fresh. Tuna avocado, salmon avocado and Philly roll. Came with a miso soup. It was nice and hot, delicious with fresh greens and tofu. One of the best I’ve had around CT. I got a little chilly and ordered a small hot sake. Hung out in here for a little. The music isn’t what you typically expect for Asian fare, but quite enjoyable. Overall great experience. Glad I came by. Would love to come again.

We were in the mood for sushi and other Japanese snacks last night and decided to try a new place. We love our spot(which I haven’t reviewed yet, but if you are an IG follower it’s probably quite obvious where that is) but the guy was interested in a little more variety and our spot only offers sushi and little else. Our plan was actually to go to Tisumi, another place in town, but after noticing through the windows that the place was empty around dinner time, we were a bit alarmed and left without going inside. Granted, this is Glastonbury and not busy West Hartford Center on a Monday night, but still. Min Ghung was no different. After we got lost once, we arrived at this oddly located restaurant(in the downstairs of a business complex) to find that it was also completely empty. But this time we stayed instead of going somewhere else. At this time it was already 8ish, and it was the two of us, the waiter, the hostess and the sushi chef present in the sizable restaurant — plus whatever staff they had in the kitchen. Several minutes later two other couples arrived. Décor was playful with bright colors lighting up a display wall of bottles. Bright changing lights added a trippy feel to the bar area. The lighting was soft and pleasant in the rest of the space. One thing that I noticed that got to me at first was an unpleasant smell. A combination of old building combined with overused dishtowels. I don’t know how else to describe it. After sitting for a while I got used to it, but when I left the restaurant to use the restroom(because the restroom is located outside the restaurant in another part of the building, not far away) I smelled it again after having some time away from it. There are few things worse than being surrounded by an unpleasant odor when you’re about to eat. The smell was almost forgotten, though, when the food finally arrived. Even though only three tables of people were there things took a bit longer than expected, but we weren’t in a rush so it was fine. We had ordered a few appetizers to start: vegetable tempura, edamame, duck roll-up. All very good. In addition, we ordered one of the special rolls of the day — the Tiger Roll, as well as an Alaska roll with salmon, cucumber, and avocado, yellowtail scallion, and what was supposed to be eel cucumber but I believe our waiter misheard me and thought I said yellowtail cucumber. The sushi arrived on a platter with a beautiful bird painted on by the sushi chef using a sweet edible paint. It was a nice touch. We also got a Manhattan roll that we didn’t order due to a mix-up where my boyfriend ordered a Manhattan — the drink — and waiter thought he meant the roll, but he gave us the drink on the house which was nice. There was a large chalkboard by the list of specials on color paper, simply stating Manhattan $ 10. Overall we had a good time here and we were happy to try out a place that was new to us.

Pros: Fresh fish, nice looking atmosphere, beautiful presentation, fair prices. Owner/manager was very kind, polite, and welcoming. Cons: bizarre location, bathroom outside restaurant downstairs and around the corner. No soap in the bathroom. Kids running all over the office building/mall. Mediocre service from our waitress, others were helpful and nice. When we complimented the sushi chef on presentation, he POINTEDTOTHETIPJAR. Not the beat sushi I’ve ever had, but still good and worth going back.

What a hidden gem! It is located downstairs in a commercial building but don’t let that deter you. The sushi is reasonable priced and wonderful! The presentation is superb! Great selection of rolls. I tried this place because I bought a groupon but now I will be back!
