Best darn fried chicken ever! My son ordered the waffles and chicken and naturally I eyeballed it until he asked me if I wanted some. The chef and our server were siblings, I learned that by listening to the other regulars coming in. They were raving about our servers cooking(outside of the restaurant) and how much they missed her food. Let me tell you it must certainly run in that family because I wanted to slap the person next to me after I bit into that nicely cooked fried chicken. My food was great too. I had pancakes, steak and eggs. I was stuffed by the time I left there, and all I could do is smile(as I rolled myself) to the car. The servers were such sweetie pies, just like your favorite Auntie.

Three stars, only because there’s not a 2.75. Overall fine, would return. In my book a 4 is exceptional and a 5 is legendary. It’s fine, but not«oh my God l, this is great» like the City Diner. That’s the standard for me. Comfortable, easy going spot. You’re not getting the worlds culinary chefs, but decent tasting grub. I ordered nothing fancy — just French toast, sausage links and home fries. All could have been slightly hotter, but I like my food served piping hot. The portions were okay, not massive. The French toast was basic, but good, not thickly sliced, normal like you would make at home. The sausage links were also basic; probably the weakest link of my meal. I’ve seen bigger, better, hotter. Coffee fine, service fine. You wouldn’t be unhappy with a meal here. I have a hunch it’s consistent, right at that 3 rating, but nothing more. I’ll be back to try eggs or the pancakes or waffles so I can judge again, but I suppose it will be a similar experience.

For years this was five star breakfast spot. Omelets are amazing and overall food is good. However, this morning we sat at our table and ten minutes goes by and no one came over to greet us or take a drink order. We had all ready picked apart the menu and came up with what we wanted. The hostess wiped our table but left the syrup container(which had butter all over it). Epic fail Aunt Sarah’s. That may be the last time we come there. Y’all should have shut down after the rumors months back.

There were bugs. Restrooms were nasty. The strawberry pancake was bad. Ordered the vegetable omlette it was half cooked and when told the chef. He was rude and showed attitude. I guess they don’t need people coming there no more.

DON’T BUYTHE Unilocal $ 20 for $ 40 deal!!! They no longer accept it or Groupons. Also, the food was mediocre anyway. Super greasy fries and hash browns. Didn’t enjoy our meal.

I like these spots because you expect good prices, good food and good people. I had business in Richmond and while driving through noticed Aunt Sarah’s. Glad I came in for breakfast. Debbie helped me decide on the corned hash omelet and the sliced ham side. Great choice too! She was so nice and made sure I was good throughout my stay. Great job guys!

Definitely worth the money. The pancakes are very delicious, light, fluffy, and big. Omelette was also pretty good. I’d say the one thing lacking is the potatoes, particularly the hashbrowns.

Nothing special. I had a polite server, okay but bland food, & an uncomfortable uneven booth seat.

Visited one in Richmond, VA and I would gladly make the 2 hour drive just to go there again! The chicken and waffles was amazing! It’s a very quaint establishment and we immediately felt at home! The staff was very friendly and made great suggestions to accompany our meals!

So good! It’s like eating breakfast in your Grandma’s kitchen. The servers are all sweethearts and take good care of you. The atmosphere is very«homey», and they offer options that most breakfast places don’t(Corn-berry pancakes)! Go ahead and eat there. It will make your belly and your soul feel good. :)

Great waffles, pancakes and eggs. Good prices. Ok service but for the price you pay I don’t complain too much.

Aunt Sarah’s breakfast was amazing. I had the corned beef hash skillet. The hash was some of the best I’ve ever had. The eggs were cooked perfectly and not too greasy. And the home fries… Like thick potato chips expertly fried. Crispy on the outside with fluffy cooked potato on the inside. This skillet was accompanied by three silver dollar pancakes that needed no syrup. Great buttermilk taste, not too dense. Why only four stars? Well, Aunt Sarah has been lax on the cleaning. It was as if there was a thin film of pancake syrup angry grease over everything. The floor and table were both sticky. The staff were friendly, something is from the north really appreciate.

Good service, inexpensive prices, large portions, no complaints. We came here with the Unilocal deal and got more than enough food for three people. Our waitress Valerie was super friendly and quick. We initially sat down, ordered beverages, then realized we had to run out for an errand before we could sit down and eat. We told Valerie that we would pay for the drinks and return in about an hour, to which she said not to worry about the bill and to just pay for it when we came back. Obviously this blew my mind because this would have never happened back home in Boston. Anyway, we came back as promised, sat down, and had a great brunch. My boyfriend ordered chicken and waffles and quickly became obsessed with the chicken. It was sooooo good, he even ordered more chicken on the side to go with his waffles. I had the sausage and gravy on a waffle w/the casserole hash. I barely finished half and boxed up the rest to go. Their waffles were fluffy and they even had boysenberry syrup. Our friend ordered blueberry waffles along with a heaping plate of bacon. The only thing that I wasn’t impressed with was the side of fried green beans that we ordered. I wasn’t sure what to expect as I have never had fried green beans before but I was definitely surprised that they used canned green beans. You could tell by the texture and the taste that the green beans were not fresh. Not a big deal since everything else was so good; I’ll just be sure not to order these again next time. We will stop back here for sure next time we are in Richmond.

First time visit the other day and my first impression of the atmosphere was very uncomfortable. It looked old, unkept and dingy. Desperate need of remodeling, but the service was fast and very friendly… well…my waitress was. Not so much the hostess. The food was amazing and the portions were huge and presented in a very southernish homely manner. I had the apple pancakes and turkey bacon and sausages. The«home fries» were flat and circular like scalloped potatoes but deep fried so they were perfect finger munchies! Loved the unique home fries and the waitress offered me a little more, no charge. I would give this place a 5 star if they improved the ambiance. But overall, I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed the food and service! Definitely going again soon! :)

Ive been going to aunt Sarah’s since I could afford to pay for my own meal and this place lives up to the standards that they have for breakfast. It’s good, fairly price, and nice portions. The service was excellent. The décor is very old and country like but rest assure there is no smoking here. If you want something different than a big chain, then this is it.

I search for local eateries and cuisine that offer tasty food and memorable character. This place has the latter based on years of the owners persona and reflection of the community. Bottom line the pricing was reasonable and the breakfast waffle tasty and in a good way standard fare. The link sausages were especially tasty. While admittedly in a hurry should it talk 35 min to be served? But in the end it was average service and smells of janitorial cleaners from mops and buckets being used that left me feeling less than enamored with this particular restaurant. Might be willing to return but not soon.

Diner menu with down home southern hospitality. The pancakes are as big as your head, light and fluffy. Three strips of bacon as a side and you’re in business. Homey looking pace, with rustic country furnishings. Good enough for me.

Was planning to use my Groupon for the Broad St. location, but it had closed already, and this location is open later so ended up here. The menu is the same, and service is super friendly. Food was great. Big portions, lots of options, and many entrees come with unlimited sides. =)

Sold when owner died last year. American with Southern style. Extensive menu from bfast items grits/waffles/toast/eggs to burgers to steaks for dinner. Typical of what Denny’s tried to emulate. Great crew, very nice. Solid food.
