Great place for lunch buffet. I wish the hosts acknowledged us with a smile as that is the first impression you get of an establishment. The food was decent for the price and I was full after two plates! The BBC pork is a must try. I tried the sushi and it was OK. Next time I will come with a bigger appetite to sample more of the dishes.

This place was pretty good for the price. We went for lunch and it was $ 7.99. There are lots of choices. Obviously as an «all-you-can-eat» buffet the food was not gourmet quality, but nevertheless it was decent. The bbq pork was delicious. They had a sushi section and a hibachi grill station. The sushi was ok — a step up from grocery store quality, but not as good as sushi restaurant quality. But again, the cost was $ 7.99 not $ 27.99. So it was expected. The hostess was terrible. No eye contact and no greeting — not even a hello. But our server who brought the drinks and took the plates was friendly.

Another dinner visit. Didn’t disappoint me at all. Solid food, decent price. Unbeatable.

The setting was very awkward; I didn’t notice until my wife brought it to my attention that the staff had intentionally seated customers in a segregated orientation… really I couldn’t make this up! 4 Caucasian couples aligned with the window, 3 African American couples along the back wall and 4 Asian groups in the middle. The food was mediocre at very best with less than average buffet options, I wouldn’t go out of my way to mention it in conversation other than the fact that I paid $ 52.00(before tip) for a run of the mill buffet for my wife, daughter(10 yrs old) and my self. I felt dooped into overpaying, it’s like they put up a few lights and think they can charge what they want. In short, I do not recommend this over priced typical buffet

Definitely not impressed. The food seemed to taste not much different than what you’d find at your your standard ‘hole-in-the-wall’ Chinese joint. I was hoping to see more food like frog legs and a wider selection of sushi, but instead most of it was watered down by pizza and chicken. IMHO, pretty disappointing.

Although there are so many buffet places in Richmond, Hibachi Grill & Fusion definitely tops the others for price and selection. This buffet is great for dinner. My first time here, I loaded up on lobster(although I did not particularly like the sauce, it was still delicious), snow crab legs, and steamed clams. People actually crowd around waiting for them to bring the seafood out, but they refill every 20 minutes or so with a ton of food. The wait is worth it. Sushi was decent; they even provide spicy mayo sauce. They have regular buffet food like rice, soups, chicken, dim sum, etc. which was all pretty good. The variety is definitely better at dinnertime; I went for lunch and they did not have any shellfish-just regular fish. Huge plus if you are not stuffed by the time you’re done(but oh, you will be): good selection of sweets like fruit, cakes, and ice cream.

4.5 Stars. Let me start off by saying that I usually hate asian fusion buffets. However, this japanese/asian fusion buffet is probably the best I’ve ever been to. It seems a bit ridiculous to give a buffet such a high rating, but this place is really as good as it gets, or at least the best I’ve experienced thus far. I came here on a Saturday evening, and the place was packed. However, the wait for four guests was no longer than 10 minutes. The staff was very friendly and courteous, which took me by surprise because I’m accustomed to rude or minimal service at similar establishments. I mostly ate seafood, but what I can mention about the food is this: they serve delicious stir fried ginger scallion lobster, pretty good snow crab legs, mussels, clams, crawfish and decent raw oysters. They also have an extensive salad bar, dessert bar, delicious soups(the wonton was great), hibachi grill area, pretty tasty DIMSUM, as well as a sushi bar that includes sashimi. The sushi bar was good, but the sushi was a bit warm, however rest assured, I did not get sick. Their dessert bar was also pretty impressive. The fruits were relatively fresh and the mini cakes that are usually seen at buffets such as these were actually good for once and not overly dry and bland. They also have a chocolate fountain – BUT it was a bit disappointing because the chocolate they used seemed like chocolate syrup… Lastly they have a freezer with mini serving cups of various flavors of ice cream AND ice cream sandwiches as well as ice pops! Overall, the place is huge, clean, modern, and a good bang for your buck. The buffet for Saturday night dinner was just a mere $ 10! Buffets like these are usually cheap and offer low quality food, sauces, and service, but you don’t have to worry about that here. Really, my only complaint was that fake me out chocolate fountain.

I feel I was tricked into coming to this restaurant by other Unilocalers, which was VERY disappointing. The food is… not very good. Overly greasy yet bland Americanized Chinese food… its cheap, but you get what you(don’t) pay for. I’d rather get Panda Express. The sushi is definitely not fresh either. On the plus side, they have cherries and mediocre dimsum, which gives it some redeeming value, but I’m not a fan. Will not be returning.

My experience at Hibachi Grill and Fusion Buffet is what prompted me to start a Unilocal account. As far as buffet style Asian dining is concerned, this is by far the best I’ve been to. It seems to me that there have been a few that have popped up over the last few months in Richmond and I haven’t been to them all but this one is better than the ones I’ve been to in the past. The main reason I wanted to come here was the hibachi grill. Coming to a place like this is a far more affordable option than going to a sit down style place where they put on a show for you. Yes, they have a tip jar, but they do everywhere and I feel like that’s totally fair because this guy is going above and beyond what the other cooks are doing to create the buffet food, plus he’s sweating his rear end off in front of that hot grill! Yeah, I’m giving that guy a dollar or two. Everything that was grilled for me came out perfect and he knew just the right amount or sauce to use. And I got to load up on the garlic. Bonus! The sushi bar was fantastic. Everything was very fresh and it looked very appealing as well. I had spicy crab, California, and Philly rolls and was not disappointed. I could recognize these from having them before, but for someone new to sushi, this might not be the best place in town just because there are no signs to tell you what everything is. The buffet looked amazing. It was the best look presentation that I’d ever seen. The only thing negative I can say about it was the lack of signage over top of the food. I didn’t know I was eating black pepper chicken until I went to another buffet on another day and recognized it because *they* had a sign. But it was very flavorful. And that’s the thing… other buffets I’ve been to just didn’t taste awesome. The wait staff was very friendly and very quick about refilling my drink. I think that whatever they’re doing, they’re doing it right, and because of that, I’ll go back every week if I can fit it into my schedule.

Ambience(including service) 5⁄5 Food 4⁄5 Value 4⁄5 First, the address should be 7801 W Broad St, Richmond, VA23294. The zip code is wrong. I checked with Streetview. This place was a little hidden. It’s at the end of a long row in a shopping plaza, past the Buffalo Wild Wings. They now have signs on the law saying that it was open and that’s how I found it. The restaurant is very big with lots of tables. At 4:20, it was pretty empty as would be expected. The waiter took my drink order. Throughout the meal, waiters came by frequently. If I had come 50 minutes earlier, I would have paid the lunch price which was around $ 7, but instead paid for dinner which was around 10. Lunch ends at 3:30 pm. Food selection was very good. There was typical buffet food like a salad bar, bread, potatoes, french fries, fried shrimp, and bbq chicken. There is also typical Chinese food like fried rice and noodles. Much of this I did not try. The best part is the sushi bar and grill. When I first got there, there was no one behind the counter. I assumed that the sushi had been sitting for a while. My first plate was quite good nonetheless. Their Western style rolls are very rich with avocado, creamy sauces, and fresh fish(4⁄5). Around 4:40, I went back for more and found that the sushi chefs had returned. They put out more salmon sashimi(just fish) which was just incredible(5⁄5). The salmon was marbled with fat in between layers of tender flesh. The green beans(4⁄5) and bok choy(3⁄5) were quite good too. I’m a big fan of duck and they did that quite well(4⁄5). I only tried one Western dish and that was the Richmond steak. If you choose a good one, it can be medium rare(4⁄5) but that depends on how good you are at distinguishing meat. Most of the rest was probably overcooked. The bad thing I tasted was the lychee(1⁄5). It wasn’t the right color. Don’t eat it. Watermelon was excellent(5⁄5). Fortune cookie read«what goes around comes around». I guess that’s a fortune at least. I think I got my money’s worth even after tipping the waiters and the sushi staff. Next time, I need to see the grill at work.

All I can say is not Unilocal, but Yech! My 19 yr old and myself needed to brush our teeth almost immediately after coming back home after this dinner. We used a ValPak coupon to get a total of $ 2.00 each dinner which is basically just giving you two free drinks since you’re obligated to buy a beverage when you use the coupon. Dinners are usually $ 9.99. The atmosphere when you walk in is nice… the building is WAY too big. They must have been expecting a LOT of business with all the seating in this place. The food bar looks huge until you start walking around. There’s a hibachi grill and a sushi bar which we did not take advantage of. The restaurant says there’s no extra charge for this but there are tip jars out. While walking around the food bar it’s evident that a huge amount of the choices are seafood. There’s also choices for kids like French fries, pepperoni pizza, chicken wings, bbq chicken wings, fried plantains, and tons of desserts. I sampled a number of items. The hot and sour soup was fair. It needed more vinegar and more ‘heat.’ The lo mein was cold and tasteless. Fried rice was yellow, cold and tasteless with not much in it other perhaps a few green peas for color contrast. The hibachi chicken was fair, but cold. OK, to save words ALL the food was cold. The egg rolls were mushy with very thick skins and no flavor. There was a Shanghai vegetable dish which tasted like bitter stir fried bok choy. The fried dumplings were really tough and completely tasteless, even with the ‘dumpling sauce’ which tasted like watered down soy sauce. I tried a number of stir fried dishes but I guess the bottom line is the food was cold, tasteless, and overall disgusting. Now, the only positive I can say about this restaurant is that the service is excellent and the waitresses are very friendly. One thing that I didn’t really notice until we overheard another couple mentioning this is that for some reason the hostess seated all the blacks in one area/room and the whites in another room. It may not have been intentional but it sure is strange how that happened. I have another ValPak coupon but will be discarding it because we just won’t be going back… now for some Tums…

Hibachi Grill and Fusion Buffet just opened and I must say, this is definitely one of my better experiences. The décor is incredibly nice and plenty of seating for large groups. Sadly they do not have any good signage on the street so the business is very slow during lunch which makes food not get replaced with fresh food at all. However, the food may of been older and a little colder than my liking but it was the BEST buffet food I have gotten when compared to the other buffets(SuperKing and Teppenyaki). Not much choices for Sushi and what they have is not that great. The grill is pretty good and on par with others. Buffet area could be bigger(they have a lot of room to expand it) and does not look like over 250 different items as advertised. Prices are on par with other location, $ 6.99 for lunch and $ 9.99 for dinner. Lastly the wait staff is pretty friendly and fast to make sure you get refills and empty plates taken away.
