Don’t want to be too long so I will sum it up with don’t go here! Food is way too spicy to enjoy, and they overcharged us for both meals:(Also, don’t stop by if you are in a hurry as it took us 2 hours to eat dinner and that was not by choice.

We purchased a Living Social coupon and really regretted the entire night. We had hoped yo find a new place to but it turned out to be outrageous from the start. The service was very slow. I can look past that, maybe the cook was preparing a fine meal for us. Not the case, the food was mediocre at best. Beyond the food, the waiter overcharged for both meals and then added a «service fee.» Sorry, they did try to explain that was a tip, but also decided we were supposed to tip without telling. Sneaky… looks like we are not the first people they tried to pull this over on. I have to give them 1 star for being listed… kind of like signing your name on SAT’s. Anyways, you get it… else in Richmond and it will better. Tip: stay away

They are under new management. The menu is now a one page piece of paper, and whatever you order will be unavailable. You’ll be forced to eat whatever the chef can find in the kitchen. Not coming back until they make SIGNIFICANT improvements.

I won’t be returning here. I ordered some food for take-out and when I got home, I realized they did not give me rice with my entrees. When I called, they said that the rice does not come with the entrée. I mean wtf?! First, it says on their website that all entrees come with rice. Second, it’s Chicken Tikka Masala, you don’t eat it like soup. I have never heard such a ridiculous explanation for a mistake on their end. If they had been a little more apologetic about the error, I might have returned… mistakes can happen and I generally like to keep my options open. Oh, and if that wasn’t annoying enough… we ordered this on our first night in our new house because we hadn’t unpacked our kitchen. So we ended up picking up some rice at the store and digging out our rice cooker so that we could eat our meal.

We still love the food but a tip. The medium level spicy is pretty hot! We eat very spicy food but can not handle there«hot» level but we really enjoy the«medium» level Hakka noddles and gobhi manchurian.

I had high expectations for this place. I had not gone to Unilocal to review as to remain unbiased. That was a mistake. This place is heart-brakingly bad and poorly run. My chicken tikka was awful. The chicken tasted OLD, like it was made of artificial grit paste. I returned my meal to the waiter only to have his manager come up to me and tell me I STILLHAVETOPAYFORIT. What made matters worse is that from our view, we could see parts of the kitchen. Above the sinks there are mold on the wall. I highly recommend AVOIDINGTHISPLACEATALLCOST. There are much better options in the area including Lejah, and Annokah.

I am usually not a big fan of Indian food, but my experience at K&B was very good. While the food seemed authentic enough, the staff was an interesting collection of ethnicities, but what really counts is that everyone was very friendly and our waiter seemed quite knowledgeable wrt the food. We really enjoyed the tikki massala and the naan was very tasty, too. Overall, a good dinner experience and we will certainly go there again.

The kids and I are in search of good Indian Cuisine here in Richmond. We have our favorite places in NY and Chicago, but nowhere to turn when we are in the mood her in the mecca. We have passed this place several times and decided to go for lunch buffet. The décor is lacking, but we weren’t there for that. The layout was simple, chafing dishes on tableclothed banquet table. There were handwritten signs for each dish. However, no description for those who aren’t «indian food saavy». I like to know what I am eating. However, the staff(not Indian) tried to describe the dishes, but were not well educated on the cuisine. Because I like to only eat what I know I stuck to the tikki masala, naan, and dosa. My daughter followed suit and ate only what was familiar, adding a rice dish. My son, however ventured out and took a bit of everything. He really enjoyed the goat curry. Overall, this is the best Indian cuisine we have had here in the river city. The flavors are good and it is clean. Judging by the clientele(we were the only non-Indians) it is authentic. We would come back, maybe try dinner. However, we still miss NY!

So after seeing so many negative takes on this place, I had to chime in with a review. I’ve been to Kebab & Biryani twice and both time have had great experiences. First off, other reviews say the service is rude. On both of my dining experiences, I found the service to be super friendly. Not only was my server there when I needed him, but he was extremely knowledgeable about the menu, guiding me toward great menu selections. Food-wise: I’ve tried a chicken kebab, a couple different pakoras, boneless chicken biryani, malai kofta(Indian vegetable dumplings), jalapeño & onion dosa, naan with garlic and another chicken with eggplant dish. All were pretty darn good. Only minor complaint: the eggplant in the chicken dish was a tad hard to cut and maybe undercooked? Otherwise, the dosa was awesome and served with a variety of sauces and chutneys. I also loved the biryani which included 2 types of flavorful chicken plus delicious rice(and more sauces on the side), the naan(which is always a can’t-help-but-order-it dish for me) and the malai kofta, which we wouldn’t have ordered had the server not suggested it to us. Because the menu has such variety, I’d suggest it for someone who’s new to Indian food or an expert. Just thinking about it makes me want to go back! So please, give it a try. We need some good, locally owned spots like this in West Broad Village.

While I’m no authority on Indian cuisine, I think I can safely say Kebab & Biryani does it right. The menu is really extensive, including all sorts of Indian dishes from multiple regions of the country, and large sections just for vegetarian options. If you’re having trouble deciding on something, just grab a waiter. They know their stuff and are happy to explain some of the dishes! Personally, I’d suggest one of the gobi dishes; the spices and batter are delicious. And everything goes down smooth with naan and mango lassi!

Wow. Amazing tastes. Each dish we had was outstanding, full of flavor and plentiful portions. The challenge is the kitchen must not know how to deliver entrees to a table at the same time. There was a 10 minute lapse between the first entrée and the second. Nothing like watching someone else eat or having them wait and their dinner getting cold. Seemed as every table had the same problem. Maybe a good place for someone by themselves with plenty of time. I will probably try the lunch buffet at some point. The food was really good.

This is a hard review to write because the food was very, very good. However, the service and atmosphere was so horrible that even the best flavors couldn’t correct my distaste. We arrived at dinner on a Saturday evening. There are several doors to enter in to and neither is clearly marked as an entrance. We arrived straight into the dining room, with a few people waiting tables and already 5 tables seated. We were led to a table, sat and after a a couple minutes, brought waters(with ice upon request), menus and silverware. A waiter came by in 5 minutes to get our order, answer questions and refill our water. We ordered the Gobi 65 which was so delicious, crispy and warm with amazing flavors. Another 5 minutes went by without seeing anyone except the one man who thought we were done with our meal and took our plates and silverware. A minute later, our order of Mirchi Bajji arrived. The jalapeño fritters were cold, full jalapenos dipped in batter and covered with uncooked onions and mint leaves. They were so spicy and my water sat empty. We flagged down someone for a refill, our first of 3 times doing so during the meal. I noticed the tables next to us, 2 of whom were waiting for their meals since we sat down. Another with 10 people seemingly getting more and more impatient for their meals. Another table of 6 came in, sat down and after no one approached the table in a number of minutes, quickly left. The table next to us ordered noodles of some sort that were so spicy the small girl eating them grabbed her mouth and cried for a while. They flagged down a server and requested a bowl without hot spices.(This was after I saw them twice flag someone to ask where their food was). I ordered the Mutter Paneer which was so super tasty and lovely with the jasmin rice and Garlic Na’an. My date ordered the Chicken Vindaloo which was just as tasty as mine. We enjoyed every bit of this and even had enough for lunched the next day. When we were finished, another person came over, asked if the food was good, if we needed boxes for take home, and if we were ready for the bill. After another couple of minutes our boxes arrived, the bill came from a woman we had not seen previously and we paid promptly. This was the quickest part of our whole meal. Honestly, if I lived closer I would consider take out on a regular basis. However, the décor is so sparse and uncomfortable, the wait staff is so discombobulated and inept, the kitchen is obviously not keen on big orders and the ability to please the customer is seemingly low on their list. I can’t see myself ever going back to dine in.

My boyfriend and I are Indian food fiends, so when Kebab & Biryani ran a groupon a couple months ago, we were eager to try it out. A meal for half-price, why not, right? We arrived about 5:45 pm, not knowing that the place closes down between lunch and dinner and would re-open at six. That’s fine, we waited outside with a few other couples who were also obviously only there because of the groupon. The doors opened a little after six, and we walked into a weirdly-spaced out dining area with filled trash bags atop several tables. The host was all the way down at the other end of the restaurant, motioning at us to do… something. We gathered that he was telling us to have a seat or something, so we chose a table not covered in trash. After what seemed like god knows how long, our server appeared and got our drink orders. As a tea lover, I thought ordering authentic chai in an Indian restaurant was a good move. Evidently not. I have no idea what they were doing back in the kitchen for twenty minutes to prepare my chai, but when they brought it out, it was such a tiny amount that they served it in a Dixie cup. We watched two pairs of couples leave when they found out there was no alcohol on the premises, and a new couple was seated at one of these tables that had just been abandoned. The previous customers’ water(that had been sipped, mind you) was still on the table, and the server made no move to bring the new guests fresh water until they complained. It was the weirdest, laziest, and grossest thing I’ve seen in a restaurant in a while. There were a lot of other weird inconsistencies, like the server kept refilling my boyfriend’s water from the tap, while the people at the next table got iced water from a pitcher. Who knows. Food-wise, the place was nothing special. They give you no option for«mild» or, y’know, «not spicy,» and I’m a total wimp when it comes to things like that, so my chickpeas kept my mouth on fire the whole time. My boyfriend ordered two different things, both of which they were evidently out of. He ended up just randomly pointing at something on the menu that he didn’t recognize the name of, since the server had no interest in explaining what the different names meant. I will give them one plus: they really do give you a good amount of food, but it’s probably to make up for the fact that half your life will be gone by the time it gets out to your table. And seriously, if they’re having customers share water, god knows what’s going on in that kitchen. I think I’ll continue my search for good Indian food in Richmond elsewhere.

The food was not good at all. We have been twice now. The kebabs are awful and the biryani is decent. We ordered gulab jaman and it tasted as if it was 1 month old. The balls were uncooked and the liquid tasted like egg whites. It was not sweet or appetizing whatsoever. Will never go back again!

I am a total veggie, I went their for the weekend, apart from the wait, I guess the food was really great, I loved the Onion Chilli Masala Dosa, and the biryani. Bad combination to have but tastes good.

Food here is a little on the spicy side, but absolutely delicious and not too pricey. Definitely get the biryani if you haven’t been here before — I think it’s their specialty. Portions are large(especially for the biryani) and service is fast.

I am a visitor to Richmond and visited this place for lunch, as it was the closest from where i was staying, i really did not have great expectation but i should say it was a total surprise to me. The Biryani was great, haven’t found many places who cook proper Hyderabadi Biryani. will definitely try to catch up once again for the biryani!

From our first experience the biryani tastes good, but the kababs did not taste good. On our second visit, there was a long wait to get the food and only part of the order arrived. After multiple visits to the cashier’s desk, the rest of the order made it. The food tasted horrible, I will not be going back again.
