I have gotten a few pit beef sandwiches from here. They are always delicious and filling. The french fries are always hot and tasty too. I love the endless bbq sauces that you can get. I will keep coming here for a delicious pit beef sandwich, whenever the mood strikes. Its worth it.

The new owner really takes care of this place and they properly handle all food. If you stopped going to Canopy prior to a few months ago it’s worth a visit. Its been recently renovated and I have never seen the place look better. I have been back a few times since the renovation and they are very consistent. Meats are generally properly prepared, I have yet to get a dry sandwich. They still have all the staples but I believe they will do a Pit Lamb special sometimes(not sure if it is a permanent menu item). If you are local to Glen Burnie its hard to beat their pit sandwiches.

The place is under new ownership and has cleaned up ALOT! Its not the best in Baltimore, but it has come a long way, and the food is made to order. Glen Burnie certainly isn’t known for dynamite restaurants, so I’m happy this place has been saved!

Glad to see them open again after the remodel. Great food with generous portions. The pit beef is my favorite, and you can get it cooked to your liking. The fries are also really good, and plentiful.

Under new management, they have cleaned and painted the place and it looks great. The downside is that the recipes have been changed, and not for the better. I don’t know what spices are in the sauce or the rub for the beef, but it is not good. Too salty and what tastes like curry powder. Whatever it is its not bbq friendly. Go to the canopy in Ellicott City if you want the best pit beef in the Baltimore area.

The two stars are due to how dirty and dingy this restaurant is. It is a real shame because the pit beef and french fires are great. The prices are very good. The Canopy needs to call Robert from Restaurant Impossible to get a free remodel and clean up.

The pit beef sandwiches and french fries are pretty awesome. It’s not necessarily the most charming place to sit down and eat at but the food makes up for it.

Being big supporters of local small businesses, we naturally wanted to check out the local BBQ joint. Situated right off of the junction of Ritchie and Crain Hwy and tucked away behind a KFC, The Canopy does not attract much attention from passersby. The interior is quiet, simple, lots of wood and rustic(I use that term quite loosely). Fairly simple menu(some of it handwritten) but enough to cover a general public’s appetite. We ordered the BBQ spare ribs, beef tips, pulled pork, chicken tenders(kid’s menu), mac n’ cheese, beans, and their ‘ocean fries’. Ribs were good — meat fell right off the bone. Pulled pork was tasty. Beef tips were too burnt(thus tough) and the sauce was very SMOKY with a good spicy kick(not super hot though). The BBQ sauce was nothing too amazing but certainly better than the store bought bottles! Mac n’ cheese was decent, but a bit more cheese would have elevated it. My niece ate the chicken tenders — must have been fine since she ate nearly all of it! Fries seemed to be fresh cut potatoes and fried well, but it would have been nice if we didn’t get so many tiny burnt pieces in our cup since those are not tasty. Otherwise, it was a fairly alright experience. One last note — place had a few too many fruit flies flying around. Considering the«rustic» décor, it was almost like an outdoor picnic! Not sure if it gets worse when the weather is warmer. But just be warned about that. Oh yes — service was pretty quick.

Yikes! While the food is still awesomely good, I’m gonna have to dock a star for cleanliness… there was a HUGE mosquito like bug sitting on the table! I’ve also hear reports of other bugs… can’t confirm those but I know I saw one!

We live in Glen Burnie and had heard all about The Canopy. My husband is a diehard pit beef fan so we gave it a shot. Sadly we were let down by this place. To begin, it’s filthy. I know you can forgive a little of the grime when the food is excellent, it’s the charm of a dive but this place is beyond a dive. there were flies everywhere and every surface was covered in dirt, grime, and grease. Just generally not appealing when you want to think of food. My husband got the traditional pit beef sandwich and asked for it medium, it was well done when we got it. That’s a huge turnoff especially when you are expecting slightly rare meat. I ordered the pulled pork and it was greasy, cold and generally not appealing. The ocean fries were overcooked and cold. The people working in the restaurant were more concerned with their children then helping us. Overall if you are looking for good barbecue, this isn’t the place for you. Venture to Jumper’s further down on Ritchie highway, they won’t disappoint

This place makes me miss Maryland! I was a regular at Canopy! Loved their pit turkey sandwiches and their fries were out of this world. We don’t have places like this in Pennsylvania.(At least to my knowledge.)

Awful. The worst pulled pork sandwich I have ever had in my life. Sheetz has better BBQ. I went with two friends; we all got the same sandwich with different sides. I think the french fries were bearable… the beans and the potatoes were terrible. The place was really dirty too. Our table was propped up with dirty napkins and plastic lids. Classy.

After a too-long hiatus(thanks to Expressway Pit Beef) my co-worker and I took some out of town partners out here to experience something Maryland besides crab cakes. The food is still rockin’ good and prices have stayed low. If anything, the sandwiches got bigger. You gotta love a place that will still give you rare beef on a bun. Too many restaurants have wussed out on serving meat the way the customers want it. If you want it burned to a crisp, or blue and mooing, that should be your call.

I lived in baltimore for about 3 years for college and i must say pit beef and crabcake are about the only 2 things i miss about it(alright maybe i’m being unnecessarily harsh). If you’re in the area or if you live in baltimore and(for shame!) have never tried pit beef then you should def. go. It’s just hot roast beef on a kaiser roll w/horseradish, onions and bbq sauce but damn if it isn’t good. PS — for a college student this place was a gourmet feast.

This place had some pretty good pit beef sandwiches. I got a medium sandwich with fries and a drink. The sandwich was topped with extra horseradish, onions, and bbq sauce. It was the bombdiggity. The fries were very starchy and mediocre. I got birch beer to drink which was very satisfying to my thirst. The restaurant is dingy and the service is slow. Still, if your in the mood for pit beef and not at Oriole Park, the Canopy is your best bet.
