Fantastic BBQ! Brisket low-and-slow fork tender beef candy consistency. Only menu suggestion– add a chopped beef brisket sandwich to the menu! Ribs are a competition quality hickory smoke that needs no sauce, and not over or under done. Sauces are average. But the bbq doesn’t need too much.(Except a DIY chopped beef sandwich, with a little of their red BBQ sauce)

Good sized portions on 2 meat platter and flavor variety in the sauces was appreciated, but the Yella was my favorite, surprisingly. Corn bread was individually wrapped, which helped it stay moist. Watched the games on the big screens too. Will be back!

Great bbq close to airport. Small bar section but great place to sit and watch the game. Tv throughout the place as well. They have happy m-f from 3 – 7. $ 2 off Dom and $ 1 off craft beer. Full slab at $ 23 with beans and salad. 2nd order is ½ slab and brisket with double collards. You get 2 sides per order. All was good. Price is a little higher than other places. 4.5 stars

Nice dinner option when staying at a local hotel to fly out of BWI tomorrow. We ate at the bar. They were very busy with take out but we got our orders in and food quickly. Great tap and bottle selection. I had the sides, mac n’ cheese, collard greens(so good) and baked beans. Dan’s pulled pork was okay. We’d probably be back, if in the area!

Pretty good sliced thin brisket. Hand cut fries are great. Pulled chicken really good. Cornbread… skip it. Good service and nice clean place. Not the greatest and not the worst. Brisket was cold too but sent it back no problem. Out of sausage today. Boo. All in all a pretty good place for lunch.

Solid 3.5 Came here to continue our quest to locate awesome bbq in the area. Well awesome its not, but ok it is. Walking in we were happily greeted by the staff. So off on the right foot! The hubby and I took a few minutes to go over the menu. We both ordered the 2 meat sampler(12.99 per 2 meat sampler). I got the sriracha chicken sausage & moist brisket, with green and corn on the cob with corn bread. The sriracha sausage did not give the spicy kicked I hoped it would. I was ok, tasting, but shouldn’t be named sriracha. Maybe just chicken sausage. The moist brisket was nice and smokey, good flavor, but not warm. The greens were pretty good not mushy, not tough. just right, with maybe smoked turkey??? The corn says seasonal on the menu. They should let it go… it was the saddest piece of corn I’ve had in a while(and so was my daughters & hubby’s corn), this also needed to be little warmer. My corn bread was cold, so I asked if it could be warmed up, when it came back out it wasn’t warm. **whatever I give up at this point** why is it so hard to hot food here. On to my hubby, he also got the 2 meat sampler, except he got ribs & moist brisket, with greens, corn on the cob and corn bread. His dish came out with the wrong type of brisket(but please note this brisket was also cold). Sent the plate to get the moist brisket, there were no problems, no arguments, no eye rolling. So thats a plus. My hubby liked the ribs good rub on them with great smokyness, also not exactly the hotness dish ever. He really liked the brisket, although he corn on the cob was also a sad piece. The green however is where we differ… he didnt like them. We both preferred the flavor of the red bbq sauce. The yella… ummm too mustardy and the other one. ummm to vinegary. Other than the mistake we made of ordering corn in the winter… and the food not as hot as I’d like it. …I would go back. There are lots of other interesting items on the menu, I want to try. For instance: Texas Tacos, Urban Soul rolls and the wings. I

I had a bad experience with them messing up my order; however, the owner got my issue resolved by refunding my food via gift card and giving me extra money on the gift card for something else on them. Food I did have was not bad… I got all the way to work though and realized my 3 item combo was just 2 items and only 1 of the things I ordered. I have yet to use my gift card but I’ll be back. Just make sure you check your food before you leave if you get carry out. Lots of young kids running the place so a little mess up here and there can be expected, I’m happy they were able to resolve my issue though and mail me out a gift card. Owner was very apologetic and cared about having my business which is what good customer service is all about!

I was disappointed in the brisket, which was rubbery & lacked flavor. The wings, however, were quite nice. Spicy & cooked well. I didn’t try much else, bc I was pretty full but my kids seemed to enjoy the mac & cheese(not saying much as their favorite is Kraft boxed). I carried-out so can’t say much about the restaurant. Next I will try the ribs. Here’s hoping they’re better than the brisket bc they’re putting one near my house & I’m desperate for convenient barbecue.

I’ve only had ribs and wings, can’t give a full review without trying everything on the menu. The ribs were not bad, Mission BBQ ribs are more tender and flavorful. The dragon honey wings here are awesome though. Will come back another time to try more items off the menu

Sat at the bar, server made eye contact came over ten minutes later and asked if I’ve been waiting long, place was almost empty! I’m not sure how they cook their ribs but they are not smoked in the traditional manner, they are however, dry. The best part is they serve your meal on a cafeteria tray with the ribs on a piece of paper and give you a plastic knife to cut over cooked, dry ribs. And finally, sitting alone finishing my drink at the bar watching a game on the TV when another server without asking if I’m watching changes the channel! On a positive note… the beer was cold!

The place has a fast food feel. You order at the counter and they call your name. So don’t expect table service. The twist is there is a bar. I sat at the bar. I ordered the beer with my food and Ravens fan, Katie, so she wasn’t perfect, poured my draft. Tattoo Everything on the speakers. Small but tasty selection of brew. Ok for the food. Corn on the cob, ok. Cole slaw, nice and fresh crunchy. Ribs, hmmm, I don’t care if the meat falls off the bone if there is no flavor. These did not. The meat was firm and had a great tooth feel. Very good dry rub. Did not require any sauce but I had to try it. The Red was good, Atomic nicely spicy without burning, Carolina will go nicely with a pulled pork sandwich. I’ll be back if I’ve ever got time before a flight from BWI again.

I wanted to like this place but I just don’t. The place is new, clean, and the employees are friendly. ½ rack of ribs on Tuesday which I took advantage of though I had a taste for brisket. I believe everything is cooked/smoked/prepared in-house which more and more BBQ places are doing. When I received my full rack of ribs, I was surprised that they weren’t cut. The employee told me I could use a plastic knife to cut them. Whatever… No big deal. Still awkward. Since this was my first time I asked for a sample of brisket. Initially was going to place an order since they sold it by the pound. The employee then tells me it only comes in ½ lb or 1lb increments. Um ok. Still, she was nice enough to give me a sample. What little bit I did have needed to be smoked/cooked longer. I like my brisket super moist and super done. The piece I had wasn’t tough but wasn’t über tender either. The brisket also lacked flavor IMO. *sigh* Once I got into my car I couldn’t wait to dig into Ribs. Did I mention to you that the ribs weren’t cut? So my inner cave man comes out and I manage two bones by hand. The ribs were tender, dry rub seasoned, but lacking in smokiness and flavor IMO. I suspect if I put sauce on them they’ll taste better but the measure of good ribs how they taste without sauce. For my sides I ordered ranch beans which, I’m not a huge fan of and Mac & Cheese. The M&C is super cheesy and creamy with decent flavor. Maybe in the near future this place will be a solid contender against Mission BBQ. I won’t totally give up on them just yet. I couldn’t give them 1 star certainly couldn’t give them 5 either. I’m from the south and BBQ is a staple… Lots of smoke, heat, and flavor. Perhaps Urban will get better over time.

I like BBQ. Especially ribs. There is something about a whole rack of ribs that are flavorful and moist. I got this with two sides of salad. The salads were great! My wife got brisket and pulled pork with mac and cheese and baked beans. I tried the mac and cheese, it was wonderful. Cheesy, gooey and just darn good! We both had the cornbread. That was some good cornbread! I have had a lot of BBQ in my life and this place sure does BBQ justice. Try the ribs, try the brisket and you will hopefully be as pleased as we were. Don’t just take my word for it, give this place a try! Thanks for reading my review. This review is based off of my personal opinion and experience.

This was your Chance For Redemption, however you FAILED just as MISERABLY as the First Time! First Review is on my IG, Twitter, and fb for those that Follow me anyway… I read a Review stating that some of the Food was Undercooked… on my First Visit, the Slab of Ribs were… This Visit, one of the Links were… And the Brisket was Cold!!! Not even Room Temperature!!! Actually COLD!!! Like it came out of a Fridge or however they store their Leftovers, which means that is what they Served me!!! LEFTOVERS!!! I like my BBQ Served HOT!!! At least they served me HOT, Overcooked, and Dry Brisket the First Time!!! I got Collard Greens and Mashed Potatoes and Gravy(Extra Gravy) as Sides… And CornBread. I’d like to reiterate that the Sides are Decent and the CornBread is FANTASTIC!!! The Atomic just ain’t Spicy at all like another Review states! As for Flavor it just doesn’t taste Good! Taste more like a Hot Sauce than a Spicy BBQ Sauce, but again, Mix Red and Atomic together and the Atomic begins to taste alright… I make mine with more Red for the actual BBQ Sauce Flavor. I’ve eaten at BBQ Joints all over the World… and they more than likely don’t serve everything they Cook for a Day, but I’m also sure they’ve NEVER Served me Cold BBQ!!! In fact all the BBQ Spots I’ve ate at store their Cooked BBQ in some sort of Food Warmer!!! Consider tossing your Leftovers in the Smoker the following AM to HEAT them back up, or Wrap them in Cellophane to Lock in the Moisture and throw them in an Oven!!! When we Smoke Ribs for Parties at Home, all the Ribs are finished sometimes Hours before the Party Starts and we Store them in a Warm Oven, and they aren’t Cut and Served until a Guest wants some(like a Carving Station)! Try it sometime!!!

It’s natural to compare urban to mission bbq which is a popular regional chain in the area. I so wanted urban to step up to the plate and challenge or exceed mission — sadly this isn’t the case. It was obviously 30 seconds into our meal. I didn’t eat everything on the menu, but the pulled chicken and brisket were not nearly as good as mission. Either were the sides, especially the mac and cheese. Their sauces aren’t as good either. One plus were the cheese fries which everyone devoured. I’ll have to wait for dinosaur bbq to open in Baltimore this fall to beat out mission.

3.5 stars — decent BBQ, but there is nothing proprietary about it. Urban and Mission BBQ are practically twins with the only difference being that Urban has a root beer tap and Mission plays the National Anthem at noon every day. I ordered the 2 meat sampler plate(brisket and siracha sausage) with mac/cheese and coleslaw. Brisket was decent, but not amazing and the same could be said with the sausage. Neither was bad, but nothing that makes me want to rush back. The sampler with a drink will run you close to $ 16 — you get a lot of food and I only chose this option to(as the name states) sample. I actually enjoyed the mac/cheese for whatever reason and the coleslaw was good too. Urban’s side portions are actually more than 2 bites, which is what annoys me about Mission. The corn bread was soft and moist. Let’s talk about the sauces. Urban keeps it simple and the red sauce is their best one. They also have a spicy, vinegar, and a mustard sauce. Restaurant is nicely appointed the staff was friendly. I love the Old Dominion root beer tap. Worth going to for some bbq in the fast casual environment, but won’t make you write home.

Bottom Line: Friendly staff, charming décor, good barbecue and a very welcome change of pace to the Linthicum food scene. Here is what I have learned about barbecue in Maryland: There are some tough critics out there! I think we live in a place that is serious about its barbecue and personal opinions run deep but that is ok with me. My father smokes brisket and has an award winning BBQ sauce named after my sister, so I too know what I like. I hope this review will help you in determining if Urban Bar-B-Que’s newest location is worthy of satisfying your BBW cravings. Menu: The menu is fairly typical for a BBQ place. You can get sandwiches, plates of meat, meat samplers and salads. Entrees are served with classic BBQ sides like fries, cole slaw, collard greens and mac and cheese. You can feast on all of Old McDonald’s farm here — cows, pigs, and chickens. On my first go around I went with the pulled chicken. Even without sauce the chicken was delish — moist and well seasoned. The coleslaw and cornbread were just ok. The mac and cheese was sinful and gooey, as it should be. Sauce is the Boss: Urban has four sauce options. Yella has mustard undertones, Carolina is vinegar based as can be expected, Atomic is spicy as the name implies and Red Sauce is thick and sweet. I typically like a Carolina BBQ but here the Red Sauce was my favorite. Next time I think I’ll mix the two. Dine In or Take Out: You can dine in or take your meal to go. Urban even has catering. If you dine in you will get to do so amongst the chic, cohesive and vintage style of the décor. Staff: Everyone here is very friendly and welcoming. Beverages: My biggest disappointment about Urban is that they serve Pepsi. Bleh. But, it was nice to see that they do also have root beer on tap as well as some craft beers.

Overall good experience. I think they are still working through their kinks, being a newly openened location. I had to make several trips back to the counter b/c of things they forgot off my order, we even had to wait for a white meat qtr we weren’t told about at time of ordering, but all done in a friendly manner. Collard greens– bland and missing any smky flavor, ver stalky, bad trimming, and VERY watery, they didn’t drain well when serving. Potato salad– lacking salt and tastes just like mediocre grocery store salad. Cornbread– nothing exciting, not bad but not great. UBQ Salad– step up your salad game guys! Iceberg, really?!! At least you can use romaine. Cole slaw– great flavor, but for me I didn’t like the cut of the cabbage, too large of a square. Urban Soul Rolls– fun take on an egg roll– queso chili dipping sauce was good salty hangover type of food, brisket insides weren’t dried out like I expected. I would have liked to have seen a little more something inside… avocado maybe? Brisket– nice flavor, good texture, although smoke ring was present, smoke flavor wasn’t predominate. Fat rendered well and gave it a nice fat glisten! Pulled pork — again was left looking for a little more smoke flavor, but cooked well, nice little crispy bits, not mushy at all(like we had at mission a few weeks ago, yuck). Chicken Sriracha sausage– really good flavor!!!(Although I would have liked a little more spice, but I’m not the normal) casing had great snap, but they needed to have left it on the flame a little longer, was craving a little char. Two step chili– would have liked a little more spice but all in all a really good dish, good mix of brisket and beans, nice viscosity too. ¼ dark meat chicken– well rounded flavor, I did pick up some smoke here! Finally! Nice char! They had 4 sauces you could have along with the food, none of them blew me away, the only note worthy thing is the«atomic» left not even a tingle on my tongue… this needs to be taken back to the drawing board! All in all I would say it’s a solid place– way better than my 1st mission bbq(Columbia location) experience I had not all that long ago.

Nice change up to the Linthicum food scene. Greeted us as soon as we entered into the doors. I got the two meat sampler with two sides that came to $ 10.99 without tax. Sirachi Chicken Sausage — really tasty but does not have heavy spice kick that you would expect from Sirachi. You can taste a slight hint of smoke. Pulled Chicken — juicy with a hint of smoke. Light pepper taste. Brisket(tasted my co-workers) — you can see the smoke ring. It might be dry for some who like fatty brisket but it was just right for me. Pulled Pork(tasted my co-workers) — similar to the chicken but porky… lol. Cornbread — slightly sweet, cake like but not overboard… Collard Greens — not overcooked and heavy handed with the vinegar. Mac & Cheese — is actually the best I’ve had from a BBQ spot. Its like your grandmother was in the kitchen cooking soul food(not my grandmother because she is a horrible cook but someones grandmother… lol) Several sauces to choose from. I will try this place again. They also have outdoor seating.
