Good for take out. Unique to the area and food is okay. Will order it to change things up, but not a regular.

Really good food. Very satisfying portions. Everything tasted fresh and just made. The service outstanding. The waitress didn’t forgot a thing, and was always checking on us without been annoying. Coming Gain soon to try the tamales.

After reading all the reviews on Unilocal and elsewhere about Manka, I was looking forward to dining here. We were very disappointed last night. It was not busy at the most 4 tables of 3 – 4 people each. It took almost 15 minutes for our order to be taken and if I had not flagged the waiter down, we might have waited longer. The waiter, when he did get to us, was very earnest but not very helpful. The rice was lukewarm as was our appetizer. Very disappointing meal, service and atmosphere.

If one star could’ve been zero*I would so put that!!! This restaurant is in the worst location ever. It’s next-door to a nail salon and the little deli. There are a whole bunch of young guys clearly know nothing about what they’re doing and one chef. HOWEMBARRASSING !!! The food took about 45 minutes just to come out and of course it didn’t taste good. There was only 3 customers in the restaurant including me. The waiter didn’t know how to make drinks and trust me when I say it was a waste of money. To top it off, the chef, and two waiters went outside the restaurant while we were eating to take a photo. I found that very unprofessional. I heard from the owners bother, Miguel that this restaurant will be going out of business very soon.

Excellent food and service! The shredded chicken in mild sauce was creamy with great flavor. Chicken itself was tender. It came with mildly flavored white rice, which went really well with the dish. The appetizer was amazing as well. I ordered the Causa, which were three pieces of yucca served with various seafood toppings. The flavors were delicate and multi-dimensional. The serving size was generous and food was filling. My party and I were actually already full by the time we finished the appetizers and salchipapa. Our server was very attentive and super friendly and kind. Great dining experience overall! Will definitely be back.

Atmosphere– indiscreet, cozy restaurant in a strip mall. Laid back with Hispanic music playing quietly in the background. The bathrooms are beautiful and clean. Staff– we were served by who I think was a manager. He took the time to explain the drinks, menu, and recommendations to our table. However, he seemed a little frantic and rushed when I had questions about menu items. Because of this, he mistakenly served me the appetizer form of my dish as opposed to the ceviche, which has the same name. He was apologetic and offered me a free soda. Overall, he was doting and friendly, and all of his recommendations were great. Food– I bumped up from a 3 because the chicken was cooked to perfection and the specialty ice cream was amazing– salty, sweet, topped with crunchy peanuts. The tostones were good, but the sweet plantains were better. Sangria pitcher served 5, but was very sweet

Love their mixed grill, feeds about 4 people if you order the 2-person meal. Yummy cocktails, fresh side dishes. Have had very personable, swift service every time we’ve gone. My favorite place in Glen Cove.

I had no idea this place existed until someone told me about it. I decided to take some friends that never had peruvian food before. I made a reservation and the service was good. They took a good time to serve the food but the wait was well worth it. We order lomo saltado, jalea, tamal, and causa. My friend really loved his lomo saltado. Everything was great. The causa was good but didn’t exceed my expectations. Sangria was great. The atmosphere was somewhat casual. Good for families and groups or a special date

Got really sick after eating their steak strips with fries and onions. I only took two bites and left the plate full after sensing a strange smell. I felt sick right after and started throwing up after two hours … Needless to say that we would never go back. Despite the horrible food experience, their wait staff is extremely friendly and attentive … Too bad they don’t have good food(or just fresh food) to offer!

Wow! This place is incredible. I’ve eaten at many of the best restaurants in the world, but, I can definitely say this is the best Peruvian food and amongst the tops of any food I’ve had. Chef Torres was amazing, the staff and drinks also top notch. Great ceviche, chicken, lomo saltado, Peruvian style paella and octopus that was perfectly prepared. I can’t wait to go back. Have a pisco sour and enjoy. Thank you!

Was in the mood for Peruvian Food and didn’t want to travel to Pio Pio in Queens so decided to check this place out. Didn’t hurt that I found a groupon, which wasn’t too bad. I had the Jalea, which was pretty good and the causa as an appetizer which was horrible. It tasted like cold mashed potatoes and chicken salad. My husband ordered the lomo saltado which was okay and my son had the chicken with rice and beans. Nothing special the chicken seems to have a Asian taste to it. Perhaps it the Marinade they use. We had the leche Asada for desert which was good, tasted like flan. Probably, won’t go back and take the trip to Queens next time if I’m in the mood for Peruvian food. Pio Pio is definitely better !!!

We have never found a Peruvian Restaurant that we liked. Menu choices were always limited to Chicken and little else. Well, we happen to be in Glen Cove for a cancelled event and were starving. We checked Unilocal Nearby Restaurants and found Manka which happened to be right up the road from where we were. This small storefront wedged between a barbershop and a market beckoned us to come in. Glad we did! We were welcomed by Frankie, the waiter and were seated immediately. The place is small, maybe a dozen tables of 2 and 4 tops. Nice music was quietly playing in the background and we got a couple of Blue Moons to start the festivities and relax. After perusing the menu, we ordered a really neat version of Fried Calamari. The coating was not Italian bread crumbs but a nice crispy Peruvian version. On the plate was finely sliced onions in the best citrusy juice, like on the Ceviche we would later order. Also a tartare like thick dipping sauce which was perfect and most interestingly, Peruvian Beans that when you bite into them they are sweet. Fried Yucca was the accompaniment and it was crisp, not greasy and marvelous. We also got the Whole Chicken, at $ 10 bucks always a deal. Unlike other Central American versions we have had, this was seasoned to perfection and delicious with no sauces. We had the fried sweet plaintains which were prepared perfectly! The order of Mixed Seafood Cerviche was had as an entrée by Bonnie G. The only improvement on it would if there had been more! It was fresh and in a briny citrusy juice which added vumph to the taste… Vumph is good! This is an establishment that welcomes all that pass thru the portals. Its not fancy, actually quite plain, but comfortable and most importantly the food is fresh and well prepared certainly deserving of the 4 star rating.

As usual the service and the food is fantastic! This time We had the ceviche mixto as an appetizer and wow! Very refreshing and super tasty! I was scared to try this dish again after having such a bad ceviche experience at Pio Pio(never again). For entrée I ordered the short ribs that I was so mad I didn’t order last time and it was cooked to perfection. Fall off the bone and very tender and the sweet potato mash mixed with the light short rib gravy paired amazingly. Paired with a few pisco cocktails and your night is a hit! Hands down the best Peruvian spot in Long Island.

Delicious Peruvian food and cute little restaurant Manka would have been 5 stars — however, our dinner dragged on for a little over 2 hours! I’m all for enjoying my meal, and spacing out appetizers with our entrees and dessert… but this did unfortunately take too long. Tried Causo for the first time, and was pleased with it, their green sauce was definitely tasty and spicy which I love. The Lomo Saltado was close to the best I’ve had, the steak was very tender and delicious and the portion was plenty.

One of the best ceviche I’ve ever had!!! Our waiter Edgar was friendly and made great recommendations. I was in the mood for seafood so we knew to get the seafood ceviche and I saw the picture of the choritos(mussels) and they were really special. The flavors just give a good punch… Lime, onion, tomatoes and of course the giant corn kernels. It was amazing, I can only speculate but I think this place is the real deal like Peruvian stamp of approval. Better than any spots in Brooklyn that ive tried. For main courses we got the chifa which was sort of a Chinese fusion lo mein with seafood, the fried seafood which was like calamari and yucca, and the steak. Each one was superb! We had to save a tiny bit of room for dessert so we had the rice and purple rice pudding which was very unique. Actually reminded me of Asian dessert, not very sweet but combines random things like purple corn, prunes and rice pudding. All the dishes were great, seriously first class all around. I left really full but totally satisfied and so happy to have found this new hidden gem.

Overall 4 stars Food 5 stars for everything but the fries; 1 star for fries. Service 5 Stars Atmostphere 5 stars Value 4 Stars Will I go back? Absolutely. Yes. Just heard of a new peruvian restaurant near my office. So I had to try it. Food: I got the rotisserie chicken, fries and sweet plantains. Chicken was fantastic, green sauce was fantastic, plantains were fantastic. Fries not so much. I would give the food 5 stars, but for the fries. In fact, I hated the fries. Someone else said that their fries are fantastic. not true. Service I ordered take out, didn’t call ahead, cause I didn’t have a menu. Menu is in spanish with english explanations(plus!), and service was very friendly. Atmosphere As mentioned, I ordered take out. But restaurant was well laid out, with plenty of room between tables. Can’t comment on noise, since it was only half full. Value It was a little more expensive for what I ordered than what I was used to. But that’s ok. They have a daily 8.99 special which I will be getting next time. They do charge you extra for extra green sauce. That was annoying – but I don’t blame them. the green sauce is highly addictive, and theirs is excellent. Bonus: Unilocal check in yields 10% off(as of the time of my review) Will I go back? Absolutely. Next time will take the daily special.

I have to admit that the food was good, I ordered Choros a la Chalaca, ceviche mixto and ¼ Pollo a la Brasa. The presentation was clean, nice dishes and nice fancy silverware, a unique touch of the water bottle I will come back to order other dishes from the menu. The waiters could use a little bit more training overall a good experience!
