Update: Neat has *not* moved to Little Toni’s in North Hollywood, contrary to what other people have written. According to Alex, the bartender/manager for ‘Bar Toni’s’ inside Little Toni’s, the guy who ran Neat was a consultant for Little Toni’s bar, before he moved to the Bay Area. But that is all. It’s not accurate that Little Toni’s has taken over Neat, etc. It’s a shame that Neat closed. It was a great spot for some unusual spirits, especially if you wanted to avoid the crowded bars of downtown LA or the chaos of Hollywood. I stopped by about once a year and always enjoyed it.

First time at this bar, Nathan was my bartender and Ben was bar back. Best customer service ever! They play great music, provide stimulating conversation and amazing drinks! I’m a whiskey girl and Nathan made his personal Almond Delight which is a must try if you go here and he is your bartender! Definitely top 3 bars in the Glendale area!

Heads up — Neat has closed this location and will continue operations at Little Toni’s in North Hollywood. Here’s Little Toni’s: Eater LA article about the move:

Pretty random bar next door to a nail salon. It was hard to find as the sign isn’t too visible and the entrance seemed like a random door into a building. Loved the happy hour though(5 – 7:30pm). Drinks are half off so there was a pretty decent crowd given that it was 6pm on a Wednesday. I ordered an old fashioned with bourbon and it tasted a tad overly sweet to me(although this is a personal preference). Not sure what type of bitters or how many sugar cubes were used. My friend had a sip and he enjoyed it though. I also tried the gold rush, which was another bourbon based cocktail with ginger and lemon. I thought this was a tad too sour but still good. Overall, I’d come back for happy hour if I was ever back in the area. It had a nice ambiance and friendly staff.

I’ve been wanting to write a review for the last year and haven’t done it. Side Bar used to be a place we would all go randomly on weekends and hangout. For years and years it was a comfort place for locals to meet up. Everyone was skeptical of Neat! Lol I love this place! The bar tenders are you buddies and the drinks are amazing. They only have the good stuff and I’m a spoiled little Cognac pro. This relationship worked out since the first day they opened! I don’t often, but when I do, I have some of the best memories with my friends! Neat is Glendale’s top secret spot! ;) I Unilocal for businesses that make you feel at home*

The experience was a bit of a let-down. Great name, great concept. Very poor execution. The bar literally did not have ANY beer whatsoever, the whiskey selection was lack-luster at best. If you live in the neighborhood, probably a good place to drop by and have a drink if you are on foot. I live in DTLA and I certainly would not take a trip out there again to check it out. There’s potential, but the owner needs to put some money into it and work on the selection of liquors and beers. The bartender was really nice and friendly, but it was obvious he was handicapped by the selection of liquors.

I am changing my review from 4 stars to zero stars. The bartender that works here(that fucker) changed my bar tab! I had a 60.00 bar bill and left him a $ 12 tip and then low and behold I got my credit card statement yesterday and somehow $ 72 morphed into $ 100. Do not got to this bar. I am beyond pissed. Like Shannon L. said, they participate in credit card fraud at this establishment. I hope they get caught one day and get thrown in jail! DONOTGOTOTHISBAR!

This place not only has the best drinks, but the best happy hour! Their happy hour is from 5:30 — 7:30 and you get half off all of their drinks(typically $ 11-$ 13). Great deal for their alcohol selection and amazing mixed cocktails. They really spend time and put effort into making delicious drinks. Definitely worth visiting — I tried it for the first time a few days ago and have been back three times!

I have been wanting to try this place for a while now. Since their hours are a little unusual it has taken a while to be able to check it out, but I was finally able to make it last night. The bar tenders were pretty nice. However, they seem to not have much of a selection when it comes to alcohol. Probably the saddest stocked bar I’ve ever been to. I’ve been to people’s homes that are better stocked. I must’ve mentioned three drinks, but they didn’t have the right ingredients to make any of them. Also, I heard several others order too and again, they couldn’t make their drinks because they don’t have the ingredients. Sigh… Then I asked him what he can make and went with that. We also went with the well alcohol since they were so limited. The bill for two drinks with the well alcohol came up to $ 24. The food I ordered next door at the Thai place came up to $ 24 as well, but that was worth it. I will say not worth the time or money to go here. I’m including a photo, please notice their very limited selection of alcohol and check out how low the levels are.

It really pains me to write this review because I used to LOVE this bar. First off, almost every liquor bottle on the shelf is empty so you don’t have a lot to choose from. You can basically have a Jameson or a Jameson. Perhaps they’re having some major cash flow issues– which brings me to my next point: BIGTIMECREDITCARDFRAUD! My friends and I visited Neat the day before Thanksgiving and surprisingly, the bar was packed(for Neat at least). The owner of the bar, who was the only bartender working, warned us ahead of time that the service was going to suck. I thought he was just being modest at first but he wasn’t kidding– he really is the worst bartender in the history of bartenders. As a matter of fact, that might have been his first time bartending. But in all fairness, he did warn us. I bought the first round of drinks which came out to $ 25 and left a $ 4 tip for a grand total of $ 29. Fast forward 6 days(12÷1÷2014)−− the owner of the bar so kindly changed my tip amount from $ 4 to $ 14, and charged me $ 39 instead of $ 29. Shady business practice from the owner himself. Lovely.

Nice vibe! Not crowded. Good drinks! Minus one star for running out of olives for my dirty martini(it was 10pm btw)

I’ve only been to Neat once but I’m already super into it! It’s such a gem in Glendale, tucked away in a little strip of stores – almost hidden. There’s a very comfy, rustic feel to the bar while being positively hipster at the same time. The bartenders are also real bartenders! I had a few neats but also tried their old fashioned and manhattan – both very good. Selection is pretty good and it wasn’t very crowded. Happy hour is also half off for all drinks. Such a steal. This place has this certain awesome vibe that’s going to bring me back again and again.

Once upon a time I wished there was a bar that would make mixed drinks with fresh squeezed juice right there in front of you. A place where you can actually hold a conversation with your friends and HEAR them. A place where the bartenders know what the eff they’re doing and can recommend something if you’re unsure what drink you want, but maybe you’re in the mood for something«spicy» or «sweet». Well friends, hold the eff onto your hats because Neat is that bar. I’ve only been coming here for a little under a month and it’s already my favorite bar. The bartenders are amazing, they never disappoint; they will literally invent a drink just for you, and they’re one of the few places that makes the OG whiskey sour with egg whites. And yes, whipped right the eff in front of you. Highly recommended, please check this place out!

I went here a couple of months ago with a few friends. The bartenders are true mixologist and got every drink i ordered on point. They really listen to what flavors you enjoy and the outcome of their cocktails are great! Great customer service and good vibes from everything and everyone else! My two favorite drinks was their take on a Chai Tea Latte Drink and a better version of a White Russian! This place is close by and low key GREAT!

I just happened to be in the area and decided to check this place out given the high ratings that my Unilocal friends have given it, and I have to say I can see why. The bar staff are a laid back, friendly bunch and joked with my friend and I as we sat at the bar and ordered. The guys even helped us with pizza selections from the local places that ultimately delivered to us right at the bar. For a Saturday night the bar wasn’t overly crowded and the atmosphere was conducive to grabbing a few beers with friends. Parking: there’s a lot adjacent that doesn’t seem to fill up, but if so there’s always the side streets

Neat formerly known as Sidebar. I’ve been coming to this bar for years. I wasn’t a big fan of the location when it was Sidebar… You had to beg me to walk in before, but now I love coming here. You’ll usually see me here on a Sunday night with a friend. There is usually only a few people inside since it is located in a quiet neighborhood. It’s basically your local trendy dive bar. The bartenders never disappoint with their custom crafted drinks. Every time I come I tell the bartender, «I’m looking for a vodka drink that’s jalapeño spicy with a hint of lime.» And they always get it perfect.

My friend and I were crusin’ for a cool bar to check out on a week night. I was recommended this from a fellow elite. We checked it out and was blown away. Parking was super easy inside the plaza. After you walk in, you’re greeted by a packed shelf of whiskey bottles of all colors and flavors. Nathan the bartender took care of us. Service was top notch. Incredibly knowledgable about the selection, he took his time and made sure we found the whiskey that we liked.

It pains me to drop my review from 5 stars to 4, but Neat has lost a bit of the original charm it once held. The alcohol selection has slowly degraded into a slightly above mediocre selection. Where once the shelves were full of every whiskey you could imagine, I now noticed multiple bottles of Evan Williams? Additionally, I understand it’s primarily a whiskey bar, but they ran out of beer(this was at 8pm on a Friday). My review still remains at 4 stars because Glendale is lucky to have Neat and hope it stays for years to come. Good bars are scarce in Glendale, so I(and others I know) still absolutely love and support Neat.

The previous reviews were pretty deceiving. We are here on a Saturday night, and there are only 20 people here(I literally just counted) and the music comes from the bartender’s ipod, with a poor cord that gives a static sound every few minutes. The bar doesn’t have the good stuff, no Johnny Walker, or Jameson… They have cheap imitation. I am a girl, but it’s unfair the bartenders ignore the men. I’d have a better time in my living room. I wouldn’t come back here. P. S. so sad to hear they don’t have the whiskeys for a Four Horsemen shot! Boring bar!

Where do I start? The bartenders here are amazing! Talented and just nice guys! This is the type of place where you come in, sit at the bar, start up a conversation with the bartender, tell him what kind of drinks or flavors you like… and he will work his magic! Don’t be scared to try different things… these guys know what they are doing. I’ve had some of my favorite drinks here! Boom. Kyle loves the whiskey drinks here(obviously they come«neat»). We always leave the chaser(so to speak) up to the discretion of the bartender… always a perfect pairing! We appreciate that. AMBIENCE: Small, narrow bar. Dark interior. SERVICE: Again, so nice. TIP: Happy Hour! Neat Bar, you rock! See you very, very soon.
