This place is amazing!!! The food is delicious, most likely because ingredients are fresh and the chef knows how to cook traditional Persian food. The owner is wonderful, very knowledgable, down to earth and super polite and welcoming. I highly recommend the kofta, lamb kebabs, entrees and tea! The place is small so be patient, the meal and experience is worth it.

Dizi. Have you heard of it? I hadn’t until reading a wonderful Jonathan Gold review of this small restaurant which sits in a small strip mall in Glendale. Dizi(pronounced dee-zee) is a traditional Persian stew made in a pot which is delivered to table complete with pestle for mashing. According to my friendly and helpful server, in his country dizi is traditionally served in a «dizi house» which is often near construction sites or wherever hardworking people are found. First, a plate of sliced radishes, onions and Persian basil is placed on the table. My server advised me that Persian basil is the best basil in the world(better than Italian and Hawaiian… who knew there were so many basils?) and I am inclined to agree. It’s light, flavorful but not too strong, and I gobbled almost all of it down. Then, a flat bread arrives hot off the griddle. It’s gigantic and delicious. And then… the piece d’resistance: a pot full of delicious stew is placed on your table. My server showed me how to mash the vegetables, chickpeas and meat within after pouring the broth out into the bowl. He told me it would be fine to eat the vegetables and meat with flat bread or to put it all in the broth. Dizi is rich comfort food, rather bland and requiring some salt and pepper to taste. It’s the perfect amount of food for lunch when accompanied by a flat bread. Parking in the small lot or on the street.

This small restaurant has amazingly delicious food! You go there for the quality of the food! Best Persian breakfast stew and Dizi in California. Waiter Saeed is a charismatic hard working member who is there 90% of times And very friendly. Anyhow if you want great food and homes style cooking go there. I’ve read comments on them and if you want to take a date night I recommend Cheesecake Factory and not Nerses restaurant. If you want just good/great food go To Nerses

My friend told me about this«hole in the wall» place that shouldn’t be judged by its appearance… I had my doubts but I brought 8 family members here on a Sunday afternoon. Wow genuinely authentic middle eastern food. Everything we had was delicious. The ab ghoosht was especially delicious. They bake their own bread here. Not the best customer service but that’s typical from these types of authentic restaurants. Highly recommended!

Worst service I have ever experience in my 48 years. We had to constantly ask for things that we saw other tables get automatically. My wife and I went, thinking to have a nice quiet meal together. The waiter had no sense of customer service and was so rude, a less patient person would have probably taken a swing at him. First, the plate of veggies(radish, onion, etc.) when placed on the table, the radishes slipped off the plate and flew into my lap and on the table. Why? Because the moron of a waiter couldn’t keep the small plate level when he was putting it down. We had to ask for menu’s twice, then placed our order. At the time we asked to have some butter for the bread and water. That took 10 minutes to get and only came after asking for that twice too. About 5 minutes after we ordered, the waiter brought some food to our table. He handed me one plate and then the manager came and said that it belonged to the table behind us. I had already touched the plate and my thumb had touched the rice. The waiter pulled the plate from me and served it to the other table. Not sure of health department rules, but I wouldn’t want a meal served to me that someone else’s thumb touched the food of. Then another party of 2 that came 10 minutes after us, was served before we were. After more than 30 minutes of waiting and us complaining about the other table getting served before us, the waiter said that they were here before we were. Total lie. My wife was within earshot and heard them telling the waiter their order just after we gave our order. Finally the food arrived and it came wrong. My wife asked for salad instead of the rice and that’s when we had enough and I told them that I’m refusing the food and we were leaving. Then the jackass of a waiter was telling me that I have to accept the food. I told them that it wasn’t what we ordered and we were tired of the disrespect we were getting from him. I also told him he needed to work on his customer service skills. The manager came by and then the waiter said to me that I was ignorant. Not even using the word correctly in the message he was trying to convey. Hey buddy, you’re the ignorant one when you don’t understand the meaning of the word. That’s when the manager put his arm in front of the waiter to get him to stop. As we walked out, the idiot waiter then yelled at us to «get an education». I have no idea where that came from, but I am educated with a college degree, I wish I can ask Mr. Waiter what education he has, because I know some high school drop outs that understand better customer service then he demonstrated. One other thing, the price is the same as Raffi’s on Broadway in Glendale. You’re better off getting the professional waiter there, getting exactly what your ordered, food not getting thrown into your lap AND most likely better tasting.

I had been here before and there was nothing wrong with it. Though this time, not only was our service lousy, so was our meal. Very dry food. Not going back again. They don’t care much for quality.

Great food. Location is on the low end. Yet food is all worth the hassel. Home made like Persian food. Kobe is the bomb. It’s more of a guys lunch place. I have never seen a women dine st this place. Cool with me.

Four years have passed since the last time I was here and guess what forks, the service has gotten even worse. They had one guy serving the entire restaurant including running the register. Honestly, the food is nothing special as I have previously stated. It’s your run of the mill kabob which can be found in over 30 other establishments in and around Glendale. Therefore, as previously stated, stick to Shiraz or Raffis.

I love businesses with names I cannot pronounce. It immediately reminds me of the olé’ health warning, «If you cannot pronounce an ingredient, it’s bad for you». But man Oh man oh man oh man… this hard-to-pronounce business is everything but toxic for you. So I ordered the beef luleh kabab with grilled, tomato and pepper. I am in like with Armenian/Persian food, sometimes a love affair with this cuisine, yep a love affair, for its uniqueness, earthiness, crisp flavors, herbs, saffron, crisped rice, grilled meats, stews simmered magically. This cuisine reminds me that mode of dining is prolly what civilization evolved to from hunting and gathering. You can tell patrons come here to get some genius Persian home cookin’ made with care and with amore. The delicious flavors of slightly charred proteins, fat, vegetables, tomatoes, tempered with citrus and sumac rocks my yummytummy meter to a 10++. Overlay that with geniusly made fluffy basmati buttery rice with a tinge of goldness from saffron, the juxtaposition of flavors easily is heaven on a plate. Please your palate with a nice red wine(brought in) and… life is divine. Service is scant but for a place with a name that’s hard to pronounce, with amazing cuisine, in simple environs, I love this place. Coming back for the Dizi. Visits: 1

Excellent service. Maybe I just had a great experience but I have no qualms about the service this place provides. Backstory – It’s late and I have the munchies. I’m car-less at a friend’s place where Café Bravo is the closest thing nearby — so I über it to Café Bravo at 8:58PM(knowing fully well they close at 9, I wasn’t expecting much out of the trip) and I’m refused service because they had no prepared food out. I go back apologetic to my über driver, who then suggests another kabob restaurant — this place. I went in past 9 and they were able to accommodate me fully with a Koobideh plate(recommendation of my driver). The guy working even gave me freshly baked bread for no reason at all. The koobidah itself is comparable to the lule at Café Bravo(which is saying a lot), although I prefer Café Bravo’s onions/peppers/tomatoes that come with the plate. Service was great. My order was ready within 7 minutes. Them letting me get my late-night fix definitely makes them 4.5 stars
