Thunderbird Pub

Stopped in for a drink on a Friday night while staying at the adjacent inn. The best thing about this place is the buildings history. The young female bartender gave us the rundown of its uses and dates. The pub is actually part of the old control tower of the former Army Air Force base that once occupied this location.
While this is bar is well stocked with spirits, don’t expect you can order just any old cocktail. My wife and I usually drink Manhattans, The young bartender wasn’t even sure how to make it so I had to show her plus she only had on martini glass. The prices were reasonably though for a generous pour.
The informative bar maiden also told us that ASU was about to take over Thunderbird including the old Pub but she wasn’t sure what its fate would be. Stand by. This place might disappear although I hope they at least maintain and use the building.

Nice little hidden pub, primarily there to serve the students after a hard day of studying, but is open to the public. Has a great tap selection, even if you receive your beer in a plastic cup. Sometimes they have beer specials, so look for that before ordering. The food is good pub food, supplied by Chartwell’s.

Was there Feb 3, 2015. Still good. It’s tacky though, getting a great beer like Longboard in throw-​away plastic instead of glass as in the past. Also: cole slaw used to be stellar. Now, O.K. Global burger on the rare side. History still fills the halls, though. Worth a visit.

Local-​international gathering spot since the 1940s. One of the coolest pubs on the planet. Make new friends from all over the world, with some of the best regional and imported beer selections in town.

The Pub serves as the focal point for all out of classroom gathering. The building, a historic tower for the airfield from a bygone era, was recently remodeled and is a very modern and clean space. With both indoor and outdoor seating, it is the perfect place to get together with new friends, enjoy typical bar food, a beer and a game on one of the flat screens. For those that stay on campus, this is a terrific venue as it ensures a quick commute and plenty of interesting people to talk to. In this neighborhood, it would be tough to do much better.

Thunderbird is a graduate school of business with students world-​famous for being interconnected. Many of these social networks form at the Thunderbird Pub. Whether a student, alumni, or just curious the Thunderbird Pub is a reflection of the open nature of the Thunderbird community. The big night at the pub is Thursday – and things are pretty quiet when school is not in session.
