Lousy food. Cheat you on the prices. $ 45 boat supposedly for three people only has enough food for two. Bad food, cheat you on your prices. When I complained, the owner started yelling in Korean. Racist.

Writing this as we’re here, so that I don’t forget anything. It was pretty much dead when we came here(3:30pm on a Sunday afternoon), so we were seated pretty much immediately. The indoor lighting is really dim, so good luck reading their menu(which is on black paper). Our server took a while to arrive, but when we finally placed our orders, she wasn’t very helpful with our questions. At one point, after asking whether or not the chicken on their chicken salad is grilled or not, she just shrugged and said, «I don’t know, I guess so.» I mean, really? Do you not know the menu? Or at the very least, couldn’t you have checked? We received miso soup and edamame while we waited for our entrees. The soup was very salty, and the edamame was extremely overcooked, to the point of being mush. Yuck. The garlic butter edamame was a little better, though. Their rolls were pretty standard, nothing to write home about. I do like that they had some«no rice» rolls, for those who don’t or can’t have too many carbs. Overall, I give this place 3 stars. Would I come back? Maybe, but their are other sushi places I’d prefer.

Cozy and affordable sushi place. Park for 90 minutes free at the garage next door, and go order some sushi! Service is fast & friendly. I ordered the Japanese lasagna roll, a salmon roll, and a spicy tuna roll. All together, the sushi was less than $ 20. They were all good. The lasagna one was very rich because it was baked and had melty cream cheese on top. My husband ordered the beef ramen. The noodles looked and tasted like instant noodles. The broth was good, and mildly spicy. This place is low carb/slow carb friendly as well — there was a section in the menu for rice-free sushi.

What a shame that this place was dead on a Friday night. Great prices for huge rolls and they’re super tasty. They also did something I love, paying close attention to not bother us too often or too little. Things were brought to the table in stages, which helped this appropriate level of attentiveness. My experience was nothing like some of the 2 or 3 star reviews have left. I’ve lived in Glendale for years now and I’m mad this was my first visit. Will be a regular now for sure.

I’m not sure why I enjoy Zono so much. There is nothing in particular that stands out or separates it from your average sushi joint, but as a lunchtime stop, it’s the perfect respite from workday drudgeries. Zono is one of those places that is never empty and never busy. There always seems like a decent amount of traffic, and the servers are always there to great you the moment you step in. I’ll admit, this is one of those places I order the same thing again and again. It’s the 2 item lunchtime bento box with teriyaki salmon, and sashimi. Along with the main items you get miso soup, edamame, seaweed salad, regular salad, potstickers, and rice. It’s plenty filling to energize you for that afternoon workload. Is it top of the game sashimi and salmon? No. But for $ 11 it’s more than worth the price. If you really need something to tie you over, they also offer a large beer and large saki for $ 7.99. I’ve split this with a co-worker on a number of occasions and still head back to work with a subtle buzz, so there’s that. Basically, if you want a sushi fix, and aren’t looking to break the bank, this should satisfy. Oh, they also have live Dungeness crab too, but I’ve yet to try that for lunch. One day.

For the past two years I’ve been a regular at this hidden gem in Glendale. I come here every week with my best friend for our«Sushi Tuesdays» after a good hike. Great service and even better food. HOWEVER, for the past month we’ve noticed a change. The food is inconsistent, often prepared differently than what the menu states, and most recently, we’ve also encountered a gnat problem. On our last visit, there was literally a swarm of fruit flies at our table. They were constantly landing on our food and drinks(two sadly drowned in my beer). It was extremely uncomfortable having to swat and kill these bugs all throughout our meal. I think we’ll take a break from ZONO for a while, we’ll have to try one of the 3 other sushi spots on the same block(even though they won’t feel like home).

I work within walking distance of this restaurant so it’s safe to say I come here often. Their food quality is pretty standard in comparison to most sushi restaurants as well as their pricing. They have a marketing gimmick where they have an all day happy hour which I never really understood. If it’s all day happy hour then you are not really getting a deal. It’s all the same, right? Anyways, on to why I gave them 3 stars. I was in the mood for ramen and did not want to take the journey across Glendale to Kanpai Ramen. I checked their online menu and they did indeed have ramen for sale. Now I know what you’re thinking, why go to a sushi place for ramen? But I figured if it’s on their menu, it has to be at least decent. Boy was i wrong. It literally tasted like top ramen and they haphazardly dropped an egg in. I did my best to stomach it but I just couldnt. I had to put it aside and order something else. Normally I would have given the ramen itself 1 star but knowing that their other options are much better I figured I’d balance it out. In summary, stick with the sushi and rolls here. Don’t make the mistake I made and experiment with anything else on the menu. EDIT: I actually wrote this in the restaurant and when I was checking out they noticed I did not finish my ramen. They apologized and took the ramen off the bill. Thanks Zono! I’ll be back for sure!

Was in the area for work so I thought I would stop by for lunch. There really isn’t anything special about this place that separates it from other sushi restaurants. The sushi is good, but the variety of rolls leaves you a little disappointing. They have a bunch of tempura rolls that vary slightly from one another. The popcorn shrimp disappointed me. It felt like I was just eating batter and no shrimp. I wouldn’t let this review discourage you. I would definitely go back, but I wouldn’t set my expectations as high for next time.

My brother and I decided to go to Zono Sushi for happy hour since it started from 3PM to closing and we were extremely hungry after being in school for at least five hours. What I like about Zono is that it has a great atmosphere and ambiance for everyone. For instance, there was a flat screen TV to watch sports at the bar, and there was music playing in the background, although sometime during our meal the music was either playing the silent game or the vibrating drum game. Service was very friendly with servers checking up on us once in a while. For food, we decided to get a couple of rolls such as the rainbow roll, which consisted of salmon, tuna, yellow tail, and other fish pieces on a California roll. We also ordered the baked mussels for an appetizer, which turned out to be the only food I enjoyed in Zono. Sushi rolls were decent, but not the best. Sometimes, the cucumbers inside the rainbow rolls would be hard to chew and munch on. Furthermore, the taste from some of the fish pieces weren’t exactly… right. They tasted quite funky, but fortunately I didn’t have food poisoning after eating that night. Overall, Zono Sushi is okay but I would rather find a sushi place that is fresher than this.

I usually come here for lunch with my coworkers. They give everyone free miso soup and a plate of edamame when you sit down. Free stuff is always nice. I always order the 3-item lunch combo bento box. My favorite items are the short ribs, tonkatsu, and chicken teriyaki. The bento box also comes with two potstickers, salad, seaweed, and rice. All in all, its a very delicious and filling meal. My meal cost about $ 13 after tax, which is kind of pricy in my opinion. There are better food options around the area at that price point.

Usually come here during happy hour; not so much for the sushi specials, but for the pink sake ;) Ken, sushi master serves up great fresh roll(sushi wrapped in cucumber/no rice). Their sesame chicken is pretty tasty and their veggie roll is delightful. Their dynamite, not so DYNO-mite. Nevertheless, food and ambiance is enjoyable. We do come here often, and waitress are consistently attentive and nice. The facility is clean and restroom is spot on clean! That’s always a plus!

I am here now — sitting down for a late lunch. Instantly I would give Zono more stars for the food and the service — but it is really hot in here, and I am already sweating before I even order. However, on a cold day this would be perfect — and on a hot day, as I recall from previous visits; they have good cool air-conditioning. So — moot point. The servers are very nice here — even the sushi counter chefs. And all are Japanese,(or at least Asian) which is rare these days. PERKS: 1. This place has Happy Hour ALLDAY: which essentially means that they can post an outrageous price for things and then put a red mark line through that price and post the discount /real price to its right. It is a trickstery trick — but it works. Even though my sushi is the same price as in most places, I still feel like I am getting a bargain — and subsequently I am ordering more a-la-carte Nigiri than usual. 2. There is free WiFi offered — but it is weak… very weak. 10 ft outside the place the signal is totally gone, and even inside I am only getting 2 or 3 clicks. 3. There is a big flat-screen TV where everyone can see it — which is great if you want to watch — but not so great if your suddenly see shots of fundamentalists burning people in a cage. However, now the television is on a sports channel — and the sound is muted — so no harm no foul. 4. Miso is free — so I am on my 2nd bowl. No wonder I’m sweating. That said… (((Oh God! This heat is killing me. I am dripping. But I am sitting in the ONE corner in the whole place that has a plug for my laptop — and it is probably the least ventilated part of the room. ANDTHEREAREEIGHTPEOPLEATTHETABLERIGHTNEXTTOME, INOURSTUFFYALCOVE. I’m sure that the central tables are cool))) Back to the review — - TODAY’s MENU: Miso Soup — delicious — the perfect blend of miso — scallions — and water. There may even be a touch of bonito in it. Also lots of good soft Japanese sea weed, and lots of soft tofu. I am on my 2nd bowl and a 3rd may be coming UP. The bowls are gratis, for my patronage. Massago Nigiri(wth Quail Egg) — this nigiri is bursting with massago. The quail egg is good too — but if you like the white, tell them not to dump it — I got only the delicious rich yolk — which is fine — but I actually enjoy the entire quail egg on my massago. Uni Nigiri — Wow — tasty — and a huge portion. I have tasted better Uni — MUCH better Uni — but it was in the highest end restaurants — and it cost a lot more than this did. At Zono it’s 6 bucks for two yummy pieces. I am more than satisfied with the price vs the quality and quantity. Maybe they should rename this place«Uni-Depot». Sake Nigiri(salmon) — biting into this it was a little mushy. It’s still buttery good and not fishy at all — but at happy hour prices — this is at least a few days old, and was probably frozen. But it is better than slicing up a salmon filet from the Vons. Salmon is always delicious. So delicious that I want to be reincarnated as an Inuit. Unagi Nigiri — yum — this is better than the worst I have had by far — — even ranking in the lowest of the best. Not bad for happy hour prices. Hot Sake — less than 4 bucks for happy hour sake — but it tastes like it should be 5 bucks… so… deal! Okay — I am done(after my 3rd bowl of free Miso) and I am outta here. But this was a Good Lunch. Just got the bill — all of the above plus 2 beers: $ 28.29 This was A VERYGOODLUNCH.

First thing that caught my attention was our server was very gracious and kind. Décor was subtle with everything meshing well. Hardwood floors, wooden slat walls. Oranges coalescing with warm Browns and sharp reds. You feel like you’re in a sushi house. Plenty of tables open at happy hour. I heard they changed the menu and just did renovations. The rock shrimp appetizer was grotesque. Bathed in mayo sauce and sweet masago. It was a slimy, over abundant flavor, garbage can. Seaweed salad was ok. Good flavor but with a strong aftertaste of sesame. I make it a point to always get the spider roll. Since it’s different everywhere I’ve had it, minor to major at times and mostly on the tasteful end of the flavor spectrum. Too much sauce has been the theme so far but the sushi is fresh, pleasant and tastes pretty good. One of the better spider rolls I’ve had. The volcano roll was pretty to look at. The jalapeño on top was not overtly hot and did not overpower the salmon. Next was the spicy tuna and crab hand rolls. I love me some hand rolls. Most hand rolls are of a standard size. These fit the bill and were delicious, absolutely delicious! Service was good. We will be back. Now, off to watch Lord Of The Rings at MGN
