We ordered a two item for 14.95 and a three item for 10.95. The salmon sashimi was really thick and fresh. I’m glad I ordered it. We also ordered the baked scallop on California rolls. My favorite by far would be the shrimp tempura hand roll. The shrimp was not overlooked and it was fried to perfection. The gyoza was really good as well :) The plum wine was good, but a little too sweet. Don’t think they can change that though: p

The salmon basuga was awesome! It’s definitely a must try if you come here! Sushi is so fresh! I’m going to come here more often. So worth it.

This is the best sushi in Covina! Our table ordered four different roles, and every one of them was delicious. Some of the best sushi I have ever had. However, the place is very small, and the wait time can be very long. They definitely need a bigger restaurant, that’s the only reason I am giving 4 stars.

I’m sad to see the negative reviews. From the cluster of them, it seems like Anaba had a bad day and the Unilocalers ganged up. I can say that our meal and experience at Anaba was wonderful — it was well worth the trip from Claremont. We had sashimi and nigiri, no rolls or dishes from kitchen this time. The fish was fresh and the cuts oversized(!), the rice perfectly seasoned. One heads up: the chef isn’t shy about adding some heat. Equally delightful was the experience of getting to know the chef and his wife, who served us. They were earnest, friendly and attentive. No doubt we’ll make the trip again.

The long, excruciating wait is not worth it! I came here a few months ago. The place is tiny but even though we only ordered 3 – 4 dishes, we were there for 2 hours(by no fault or desire of our own). The kitchen stuff came out the fastest. While we were waiting for our sushi, having already finished the kitchen food, the sushi chef was chit chatting and making sushi for the guests at the bar. By the time our last sushi came out, we were full from waiting and having the previous dishes settled in our stomachs. And yet the waitress gave us a dirty look when we told her we were done and that no, we did not want a box to take it home. She should be used to that, seeing how all the other reviewers mentioned slow service. The sushi and food wasn’t any better than any other place. This is on the list of definitely never coming back.

This place is maybe 3.5 stars — good but not great. We came here on a Sunday night around 7:30 and all tables plus bar were full except a two seater. We were 5 and it looked like the two girls next to two seater were almost done. The waitress told us it’d be a 30 minute wait. Was a little over 20. The waitress was nice but she was the ONLY waitress for the entire restaurant. Granted it was a small place with 4 – 5 tables plus a bar, but still! There was also just ONE sushi chef and what I assume is one chef in the back to cook the hot stuff. We ordered a Kirin beer(they ran out of sapporo), waters all around and edamame to start. One cool thing was we asked if they had kids cups and they said yes. What they brought out were little to go soup bowls filled with water and a straw poked in. That was a nice touch. We got the spicy tuna on crispy rice(eh), the Jessica albacore roll(good but slightly fishy), the Friday Night Happy Roll — really delicious but my sister in law found a fish bone!(Had saw a Unilocal review/photo about finding a fish bone before so I guess this is a thing?) Also got the mango salmon was which was tasty. The kids has the chicken udon which they liked but I thought was average. Overall a nice place — weird Chinese/Japanese Decore, nice but slightly slow service and decent but highly priced for what it is sushi.

All the great Unilocal reviews made me want to take my boyfriend here for his birthday. So when we first arrived, it took 10 minutes for us to be seated. Keep in mind, this place is incredibly tiny. This place wasn’t too too busy but it still took almost an hour for us to get our food. If it was any other day we would’ve left but they were the only sushi place open late in the area so we stayed. When the food arrived we were absolutely starving. The sushi itself was amazingly fresh and delicious. It is some of the best I’ve had and you can really taste the quality. We were disappointed by how long it took for us to actually get sushi and eat which messed up our movie plans that night. I figured it was just a bad night, so I later came back some months later to try it again. The place is so small there were no seats so we waited outside for a while. Eventually 30 minutes later we were all seated and ordered. We arrived at 8:30 and ended up leaving past 10. We got our food at maybe 9:40. The wait once again was incredibly long which was a bit embarrassing since it was my idea to bring my friends here. But they were all impressed by how delicious the sushi was! It once again was fresh, buttery, and simply well prepared. The incredibly slow service knocks some points off. But I would come here again when I have a lot of time to kill and I’m not starving because the food is just so good. Expect to be waiting at least 20 or 30 minutes for food. Don’t expect seating right away. It is small. Don’t come here if you’re starving or don’t have a lot of time to spare. But do come here to try the amazing sushi and fresh fish! If it weren’t for the slow service I would quickly give a 5⁄5!

Gave this place another shot. Wow did I make a mistake. Only 3 parties in the restaurant, still waiting for our order after 45 minutes. Unbelievable. A single chef and only 1 waitress. Major Fail. Hire more chefs. From a business perspective the faster you get customers in and out, the more you can sell!

Warning! Please, please reconsider your choice in dining here. I was bamboozled by the Unilocal reviews. My fellow Unilocalers have let me down. I went to this sushi restaurant, thinking I found a hidden gem in Glendora, boy was I mistaken. This is a non-exaggerated account of what happened: Small place(fits 20 people at the most, including sushi bar) Arrived at 7pm– Friday night, 2 adults 1 child 1 sushi chef, and 1 waitress, a party of 7 and a party of 2 at the sushi bar We waited 10 – 15 mins to order DRINKS, by that time, I had already wrote out my order on the ordering sheet We order several sashimi platters and 1 entrée(from kitchen) A few more parties of 2 and 3 walked in around 7:30pm It was 8:05 when we received our MISOSOUP and EDAMAME 8:30(1 ½ hours later), we receive 1 of our orders(yellowtail carpaccio) –Mind you– party of 7 was there before us, and received their first order along with ours. By 9:30(2 ½ hours later), we received our last plate of food(all of which was ordered at 7:15). Crazy– that’s all I can say. Sushi chef behind? Yes, clearly… then hire a 2nd one. sigh. Oh. quality? Didn’t taste fresh, and was butchered, clearly chef was in a rush. I didn’t care to even wait for our food any longer, as each dish was served 20 – 30 mins apart from each other. Please choose another restaurant to dine at.

Wow. The service here is absolutely terrible. We are always looking to try new places so we stopped in around 7pm and waited about 10 mins to be sat. … Next thing we know it’s 915pm and we STILL haven’t received the ONE roll we ordered. We literally only received our appetizers and soup right before then. I had to flag the girl down to say we wanted to leave and she didn’t even say sorry. Won’t be coming back.

Pretty disappointed. If you’re going to have a full house, please hire more than one chef. It took 15 minutes between each order. They need to hire more chef and waiters. I really don’t know how this place got such a high overall rate. The food was good. They serve sashimi on ice. My favorites were the Uno Mas Roll and garlic edamame. We also ordered soft shell crab, a bunch of salmon sashimi and Plum Sake. The miso soup and salad was way too salty. The total was $ 116.68 for good food, but crap service. I hope I never have to pay this much for this kind of service. I won’t be back. Thank you but no thank you.

I would have rated this much lower due to the lag of this place if the rolls had not been some of the best I have had. The place is very small 8 bar seats and maybe 20 chairs total. So with the size so small I was very disappointed in the time it took to even just place my order let alone the 50 minutes it took to get our first rolls. Which was strange considering the chef was CONSTANTLY hustling. However I will say that even the spicy tuna knocked my socks off. I really did not expect that considering it’s just a spicy tuna roll. But, it is obvious this chefs rolls scream perfection. The soup was pretty normal but all 5 rolls were incredible. Hats off to the chef!!!

Very intimate sushi bar, maybe 15 seats in the whole restaurant. The décor is unassuming, but the service is prompt and while they don’t do anything like omakase, the sushi chef is generally very friendly and will often suggest alternate preparations of your chosen fish, like sashimi over nigiri. Green tea is good, very nutty and woodsy. Sake selection is nice as well. Very much an under-rated little place, with very well prepared sushi. Definitely check it out.

So it any first time here, thanks to Unilocal! So this place was understaffed took 15 min to get s menu and another 10 to get out order. At this point I was rest to give them a 2 star. But I have to tell you, as soon as I started tasting the Sushi my rating started going up, had the following: UNI Salmon Monk fish liver Blue fin Giant scallop Black snapper All the sushi was delicious and it totally made up for the service. I hope the service was a fluke because I can’t wait to come back.

An unassuming place that has a total of about five tables and a bar. Not a very impressive storefront and is easily missed when driving past on grand. The gf and I got the lady roll, DC roll, Richie’s hand roll, and jumbo scallop nigiri. Scallop nigiri was pretty good. Was made with a bit of wasabi in it and kind of drenched in lemon. Still. It tasted pretty good and had a natural sweetness and flavor to it… Thought the wasabi inside the nigiri was a bit weird but I guess that’s how it’s traditionally made according to the gf. Meh DC roll had thick cuts of salmon which was nice. I guess it was worth $ 11. Richie was very nice and accommodating and made the hand rolls and lady rolls with seaweed instead of soy paper as that was our preference. Lady roll had a nice assortment of fish in it but was only five pieces. Meh. Richie roll was made in an interesting way… Fish was cut up and mixed with a crab mix and some other ingredients and sauce… It was pretty great. If I were to come back I’d probably stick to the Richie hand roll. Eh. We’ll see

One of the best sushi places I have been to! All the rolls are amazing! This is a place to come, my family and I will definitely come back. Very small inside the restaurant but enough space, the seats have pillows, it’s cute! The service is good too! Overall was a great experience!
