I love to try out and support local business as much as possible. I had heard good things from several people about Superior Cantina so I decided to give it a try. The atmosphere and décor is really lovely. We were seated at a high top table. Even though the tables are round(and rather small), they drape a large square of stiff brown paper over top making it difficult to tell where the table ends. While our serve was very nice, the service definitely lacked. She did not come back to check in often and we were left waiting for a long time. For dinner I had their«signature dish» SUPERIORPUFFYTACODINNER — 2 Unique taco shells filled with ground beef or shredded chicken, lettuce, diced tomatoes, grated cheese y side of house dressing. I pictured these to be similar to the puffy taco shells from taco bell. However theses were actually bland hallow discos filled with dry meat. This was definitely lacking and I’m sure taco bell would have been better for a quarter of the price. The margaritas were also nothing to write home about. If you’re looking for a delicious meal, save yourself the frustration and head around the block to Raul’s.

Let’s be honest here, this is upstate NY and upstate NY has NEVER been known for good Mexican food. I grew up here and currently live in Queensbury but I spent a good 12 years of my life living in Arizona eating mexican food that was to die for. Up until the Superior Cantina opened mexican food in this town was sub par. Superior Cantina is the best you can do in Warren County for mexican. Margaritas are to die for. I suggest the top shelf superior cantarita. Superior Enchiladas and Chimichanga’s are two of my favorite dishes. Grilled shrimp tacos are also excellent. If your date does not care for mexican food the burgers and wings are also really good. Give it a try! Never had a issue with service.

Never again! My tasteless meal was matched by a horrible margarita and really poor service. We were one of 5 tables left in the restaurant. The staff danced around, joked and acted like the group of college kids they are. After driving by nightly on my way home and seeing the place filled with people I decided to give a second shot. Assuming that things must have gotten better over the last 4 months. NOPE! I could have microwaved an Annie’s frozen burrito which would have tasted better than the bland enchilada I ordered. Like eating cardboard. Our salsa had a medium length hair in it… which was very clearly not from either of us at the table. Margaritas had improved from the last time. We chose to sit outside, big mistake. The ground around all the tables were disgusting, covered in cigarette butts and old food. The chairs had wet pads from an earlier rain.(why would you leave them out when its raining!?) The waiter was beyond unprofessional. Appeared to be high and drunk. Didn’t make sense and could barely write our order down. I mentioned the hair in our salsa, he took it and brought it back as I was taking the last bite of my meal… AND with the same exact salsa(How do I know? There was a chip on the side of the dish.) Gross. Total disappointment for Glens Falls. After speaking with 9 other locals over the past couple weeks… everyone has similar experiences and refuses to go again. Sorry but I’ll keep driving over to Hudson Falls to El Mexicano any day.

Glens Falls continues to surprise us with the number good places at which we’ve found to eat and drink. The latest addition to our list is Superior Cantina. Starting off with margaritas is a natural when you dine at a Mexican restaurant, and there is no reason to hesitate doing so here. They offer a menu listing both frozen ones and Signature margaritas on the rocks. An extra special feature is that the drinks are offered in two sizes — regular and grande. My wife selected the Mile-High Margarita($ 8.90/$ 10.90) — Cuervo Gold tequila, Triple Sec, and lime juice from«The Rockies»(whatever THAT means). My preference was the Sublime Margarita($ 9.90/$ 11.90) — Herradura Reposado, Grand Marnier, and fresh lime juice. Let me tell you, those Grandes are the perfect size to carry you through the entire meal. Anymore, and they will have to carry you out! Each one was excellent. We didn’t try any of the appetizers for fear of filling up before our entrees. But we weren’t deprived of snacking along with our margaritas while we waited for our meals because we were served a large bowl of tortilla chips and an almost equally large bowl of salsa. The salsa had a nice tomato flavor and had just enough spiciness. There was a bottle of hot sauce on the table for those who wanted more fire. Our food came from the kitchen in rápido order, maybe ten minutes at most. I had ordered the Superior Chili Rellenos($ 14.90) — two battered and fried poblano peppers filled with chorizo(or chicken, or cheese), covered with queso blanco and a ranchero sauce. Mexican rice and refried beans were also served with my meal. I was quite pleased with everything on the plate. The peppers were not greasy, the chorizo filling and the ranchero sauce were tasty, and the refried beans had a good texture that was neither soupy or pasty. My wife choose one of the specials that was being offered that evening. It was described as a Stewed Pork preparation($ 14.90), but did not come out looking like what she expected. Cubed pieces of pork in a creamy like gravy were served on a bed of white rice, with black beans on the side and a crab-filled enchilada covered with ranchero sauce and melted cheese. We agreed that my Rellenos were more flavorful, but hers was quite good also. There is one item that I cannot pass up in a Mexican restaurant when it’s offered. And that is sopapillas. I was first introduced to this tasty treat while in Albuquerque in 1969. The biggest difference back then was that these puff pastries were served in a basket before the meal arrived, just like one now might be served a basket of rolls for the table. Back then we drizzled honey on them and typically asked for a second basketful if our meal wasn’t served by the time we devoured the first basketful. At SC they are served as a dessert and known as Sopapaillas($ 5.90). Here they are triangular shaped(4 pieces) and much lighter and airier than what I first had, but they are still as enjoyable with their sprinkling of cinnamon-sugar and a ramekin of honey on the side. Our server Brad was quite efficient and pleasant. There is no doubt that we are willing to return in the future when we have another Mex craving. The only downside was the acoustics. There is nothing to absorb the sound in this space and voices create a din that is annoying.

I had certainly heard mixed reviews about food, service and drinks. My experience was very positive! Didn’t hurt the bartender made me a grande bomb pop margarita by mistake. Anthony was our waiter, prompt, courteous, and attentive so no complaints on service. The food was generous portions and delicious. Loved the warm chips to start. I had a pulled chicken burrito. yummy! My only complaint was we were told that margaritas were ½ price during happy hour, it wasn’t until we got the check we found out the bomb pop special was not included.

This was our 1st time here, but we will be back! The place was a little quiet at the start of our venture but by the time we left it was hopping. We ordered a chimmichonga and the soft taco meals, very good. Our waiter was very attentive but not overbearing, the drinks were good . Seemed reasonable in price as well, all around good experience.

Very mediocre. Cheap tasting salsa and chips were stale. Chile relleno was ehh at best. The tomato sauce on it tasted like it was out of a can. Nothing seems home made or very fresh.

Really good, really strong Sublime Margaritas. And not an awful price. That is all…

Very impressive. I came here with my cohort from San Diego. He was even impressed. The drinks were wonderful, after trying a few things we landed on modified Cadillac Margaritas. We found them wonderful with two shots of patron and fresh agave for Cinco de Mayo. Dinner was excellent as well, the Cabo Fajitas were excellent. The lime, butter and cilantro concoction that came along was something I will try to replicate at home. Highly recommended considering this was Cinco de Mayo and the place was jamming. Have to assume it could be even better when they had time to really prepare. One would hope anyway. Cheers!

I didn’t have the best experience. The manager did try to rectify it but it was to late. Arrived and asked for drink recommendations by our waitress which she did deliver on, I’ll give her that. Reviewed the menu and decided to order an app with our meals, as our drinks arrived. We waited around 20 minutes and then I entrees arrived. We asked where is our app which the waitress admitted that she forgot to place the order in, she tried rectifying the error by offering us the chips and salsa that she forgot to give us when we arrived! I then found a hair in my sour cream and had to search for a waiter to get a new one. When they delivered my «fresh» sour cream you can tell that they just scooped it out. The enchiladas were disappointing, the red sauce was more like marina sauce. The waitress stopped by and we ordered some different margaritas. Our drinks arrived and my margarita tasted and looked the same. We got the check and low and behold I received the same margarita even though the waitress repeated twice my updated drink order. I advised the waitress that my drink order was wrong, which she responded with«I thought you wanted the same drink. «that was my limit and asked for a manager. The managaer was horrified at our experience and apologized profusely. The food was subpar, American Mexican food, the drink I tasted was good but I will not be back. If I ever crave Mexican food I will go to La Cosina Mexicana!

My husband and I ate here a couple weeks ago and I have a mixed review. This was the first time we had eaten there and the restaurant itself is just beautiful inside. Very comfortable and wonderfully decorated. We were seated at a hi top by the windows and loved it there. We each ordered a frozen margarita but unfortunately when the waitress brought them to our table mine wasn’t frozen. She did take it back and brought me a frozen one. We ordered our dinners — my husband ordered the burrito and I ordered a chicken chimichanga. When the waitress brought our meals mine was an enchilada. I brought to her attention that my order was incorrect but she showed me that she had written down enchilada so I just let it go. However when I cut into it and found that it was beef instead of chicken I knew she had messed up my order. When she came to check on us I showed her that I had beef instead of chicken so she offered to get me one with chicken which I appreciated. Overall the meal was excellent! The food was delicious and we really enjoyed the atmosphere. Was our service great? No. But everyone has an off day so we are definitely going to go back and try it again.

I really enjoy the food and atmosphere here. The staff is courteous and the food is delicious. The chips and salsa are plentiful, which is a must for me with a Mexican restaurant. I’ve had the fried chili, fajitas, and enchiladas. Everything was great. The enchiladas were not drowning in sauce and cheese, so I could taste the ingredients. They’ve been open just a couple of months and I have been three times, and planning my next visit!

The food was excellent and creative. The tequila based drinks were varied, well executed and generous. The space, location, lighting and décor were quite good. So why only 2 stars? The sound level was unbearable! We were a party of 4 and we could not hear each other talking. Conversation was impossible. The waiter had a difficult time hearing us to take our orders or answer questions. Something needs to be done to fix this in order for me to want to return. An investment in acoustic treatment(carpets, sound absorbers, drapes …) and perhaps turning down to volume(or preferably off) of the flat-screen TV’s would help.

I ate here for the first time tonight and was not overly impressed. My boyfriend and I came in at 7:30 on a Thursday night and ended up waiting 20 minutes for a table. The service was spotty from the beginning, not terrible but just inconsistent and our waitress was overly chatty. I know it’s a new place though so I’m sure they are still in transition. We also found the large number of TVs throughout the restaurant to be distracting and unnecessary. I don’t mind TVs at the bar but not in the dining area. Regarding the food, chips and salsa were good and plentiful. I didn’t love the house margarita but it was acceptable. I ordered the chicken burrito which I found overly salted and swimming in too much sauce/cheese/sour cream. The contents were mostly refried beans with a very small amount or chicken. My boyfriend ordered a combination platter. The taco was totally cold and the rest of the platter he found to be lacking flavor. Prices were fairly reasonable for the portions but it will definitely be a while before we go back and give them a second chance, if at all.

Ate here for a second time in a week. Again, the chili’s rellanos were excellent as well as everything my wife and daughter had. This is a great little place with no-frills but hey this is not Mexico people. We need this establishment in our great town of Glens Falls. Please support this and you will not be disappointed unless you are looking for the anything other than Tex-Mex and that’s what they offer. Awesome food and great margarita’s! Keep up the good work Superior Cantina!

First time in, came in for lunch. Immediately after walking in we were greeted and sat at a hightop table near the window which was nice. The Décor was authentic including some local historic pieces hanging from the ceiling. Our party of two, both ordered a cup of soup and entrées. The soup took forever to get to the table, although it was good, and our chips and salsa came afterwords which normally are on the table as soon as you sit down. Our meals came within minutes of the soup and chips and salsa. One of us got a chicken quesadilla which was burned and had no flavor. The service was okay, the food was mediocre. Will give it a try once more for dinner next time.

Ate here on opening night. Staff was very friendly and the atmosphere is great lots of tlc put into renovating space. Service was a bit slow but they were packed and being opening night we expected it. The food was good. Not the best Mexican I’ve had but better than Mexican connection and less expensive. Their house margaritas are great don’t change a thing. My one recommendation to the chef is to cut back on the salt. Everything I ate(salsa, chicken soup, and my enchiladas) had too much. Overall looking forward to trying some other dishes and will update this review in the future. It’s exciting to have this place in the mix in Glens Falls
