We have always been going to Blue Fish. They’ve always had an amazing, fresh sushi. Their staff are always helpful and nice. But our experience the other day was not so memorable. We called in to order for pick up on a Friday night at 10 o’clock comma the restaurant closes at 10:30, the host on the phone informed us that we can’t place an order since the kitchen will be closing soon. I have worked in restaurants myself, and we have always accommodated customers calling even 15 minutes before closing time. I just thought it was unprofessional for them to refuse service prior to the restaurant closing.

Amazing sushi, great ambience, excellent service. Highly recommend the black rice rolls for those who are looking for something more exotic. We’ve been coming here for years, and it’s only gotten better with time! Menu isn’t the biggest I’ve ever seen, but the rolls are definitely some of the best quality I’ve ever had.

LOVE Blufish! The riceless rolls and sweet black rice options set this place apart from the rest. Great food, attentive service, and awesome ambiance. It’s the sushi restaurant trifecta.

Very Disappointed. My family had a reservation and when we arrived they said they could not find it. It was very embarrassing. They said there was nothing they can do for us. We have been eating here since it opened but will not come back. Terrible customer service!

Food is good… a bit above average. The real reason to come here is to gorge yourself on the lunch special bento boxes. It is SOMUCH food all for $ 10! Pretty standard bento: miso or salad, two meats(your choice of meat plus a sweet and sour chicken), fried rice, four maki pieces. For $ 10, you honestly could be too sleepy and full to even get back to work! I’ve had a selection of their rolls as well. The spicy tuna is very delicious, but for what you pay for a roll, it’s a minuscule amount of food compared to the mighty bento box. Highly recommend getting one for lunch!

If you’re looking for a trendy restaurant with fresh, delicious sushi this is your spot! The restaurant itself is cool but cozy. One warning: make a reservation! This place is packed every single night of the week and if you’re trying to eat dinner at 7pm, you definitely won’t be able to get in without a reservation. They have a large amount of options on the menu, from the appetizers to the sushi rolls– everything is delicious. I’m a huge fan of raw sushi, so the Rainbow roll with a side of the salmon roll(no rice) is always my go to. I also love how you can order short or long for the specialty roll– let’s you try a variety without spending an absurd amount of money! Highly recommend to all in the North Shore looking for a nice sushi spot. Well done BluFish!

One of my favorite lunch spots in Glenview! Very quick service, good food and atmosphere, and all at a reasonable price. The bento boxes are delicious and you can also get black rice as an option for any sushi roll. My coworkers and I grab lunch here often and this place is always packed. If you have more than 4 in your party and need to be in and out, I recommend making a reservation ahead of time.

I had a company dinner with my boss and co workers tonight. Sad they didn’t have a uni today but it was absolutely good and fresh fish. If they refilled my hot tea, I would’ve given 120⁄100 haha nxt time we will see.

I’ve heard only good things about this restaurant, and I’m so glad I got to finally try it! Since I don’t live in the burbs, it’s hard for me to try out any of the restaurants out here. But good thing I have plenty of friends who do live in the burbs! Tip: this is one of three locations. There is a blufish in Glenview, Vernon Hills and Parkridge. I’m sure they’re all good! We took a friend out for her birthday and got to split a few rolls and one appetizer: CRISPYRICESPICYTUNA Butter pan fried crispy rice, topped with spicy tuna, wasabi mayo, and sweet soy. This dish came out last, believe it or not. I guess something got messed up the first time around. It’s fine, we aren’t picky about the order of the dishes coming out. So I love spicy tuna, and I love crispy rice. It’s the best of both worlds! Crispy crunchy chewy spicy umami. Yum. OCEANDRIVE maki roll Tuna, yellowtail, avocado, green peppers, cilantro, & spicy mayo. Wrapped with a soft soybean sheet & drizzled with chili oil & fresh lime juice. This was probably my favorite maki roll out of the bunch. WHITEDRAGON maki roll Super-white tuna over shrimp tempura. This was probably my second favorite out of the bunch. The super-white tuna melts in your mouth. RAINBOWDRAGON maki roll, without the cream cheese Lightly battered spicy tuna with cucumber, avocado, & crabmeat. Topped with assorted fish fillets & citrus tobiko. Drizzled with citrus mayo sauce. I’ve also heard some RAVE reviews about the lunch specials. Here’s a little preview of what you can order! Bentos are lunch combos in a box and served with miso soup or salad during the lunch special. Vegetable $ 10 Vegetable tempura, fried rice, grilled tofu with a spicy sauce and your choice of 3pcs shitake mushroom roll or asparagus roll. Chicken $ 8 Grilled teriyaki chicken, sweet and sour chicken, fried rice, and your choice of 3pcs California roll or spicy tuna roll. King Salmon $ 10 Grilled teriyaki salmon, sweet and sour chicken, fried rice, and your choice of 3pcs California roll or spicy tuna roll. Beef $ 10 Yaki Niku Steak, sweet and sour chicken, fried rice, and your choice of 3pcs California roll or spicy tuna roll. Tuna $ 10 Grilled teriyaki tuna, sweet and sour chicken, fried rice, and your choice of 3pcs California roll or spicy tuna roll.

Gotta love the Blue Fish Sushi! City atmosphere in the burbs. I love it! The staff is friendly, the restaurant is trendy and spotless. I love their salad. The tuna is fresh and tasty! Parking is convenient. Just pretend you are on Division St. in Chicago!

Man oh man am I impressed! We were in a serious mood for some sushi and had been hearing about this spot for quite some time now. I wanted to try this location over park ridge because of the parking situation and to avoid the teenie bop crowd in DT park ridge on a Saturday night. Much to my surprise it was a success! I am always nervous about trying new sushi places but really glad I tried blu fish. The ambiance is cute, elegant and classy. We arrived around 9 pm, no wait, no reservations needed and they sat us in a nice booth. Dim and romantic lighting which is why I didn’t want to be the tool with the flash on my phone taking pictures of the food. Anyways, the service was great. Our waiter made sure we were tend too as much as possible throughout our dining experience. We started off with miso soup, gyoza, and soft shell crab. Miso was delicious but a little small still a perfect amount. Gyoza was amazing! Perfectly soft, chewy and pan fried perfectly on the side over. So good! I was nervous about the soft shell crab and wasn’t sure how to eat it. The BF showed me the way and my mind was blownnnn. We ordered two rolls of sushi which were pretty okay. I ordered the crunchy muffy and we also had some sort of eel roll(can’t remember the name) They give you the option of black or white rice for the rolls. I wasn’t super impressed by the rolls but I knew it was because I could have gotten something better. Overall, they were good. I like that it’s quality and not super overpriced for what you get.

Fresh sushi that is very reasonably priced with a contemporary feel that sets great ambience for a business meeting or a meal with friends and it’s always packed. The first time I went, my mom took me for lunch and they have a great selection. I tried the marinated beef(tasted like bulgogi), which came with a choice of miso soup or generously sized salad, california or spicy tuna roll, sweet and sour chicken, and fried rice. All for $ 10, it really can’t be beat. Then I came for dinner with my boyfriend and ordered the oysters on the half shell(fresh, huge, and briny — I was hooked), a huge chirashi bowl(a variety of sashimi) which we shared, and vegetable tempura(light and flaky exterior and it was not oily). Lastly I came with a friend and we shared several rolls, one of which was the sexy lady(delicious!) and I had an oyster shooter which was amazing. If you are looking for a great place to have sushi in the burbs, I highly recommend this place.

Amazing sushi place! BF and I came here for a date night a few Fridays ago. I had made a reservation, and we were promptly seated. It was not too busy when we arrived around 5:30 but quickly filled up so I would definitely recommend making a reso. Our waiter was training a new person, and they were both very courteous and helpful throughout the meal. We started with the Panko Scallops and Gyoza. The dumplings were completely delicious and had a perfect ginger sauce. We shared several rolls including Smokey Bear, Caterpillar, and a few others I am forgetting. I think these 2 were our favorites. Would definitely come back!

My #1 face sushi spot in Glenview. It gets horribly busy around dinner time on weekdays. Lots of parking in the strip mall. amazing specials, delicious menu items — you cannot go wrong here. My all time favorite roll was the cajun special, it was delicious. Their mochi ice cream is great, and the tartufo is not bad.

Perfect meal on a typical winter Chicago weather(well, more of Glenview/Northbrook area).very, very cold night… Warm Udon broth! Well, I wanted to eat light for tonight, I know, what a shocker, but I was in the mood for fish and some warm soup and… BluFish hit the spot! I called to make reservations for 7pm but we were able to make it to the place at 6:30pm, and boy, was it really busy! So, we still had to wait for our table anyway and luckily, we found spots at the bar and so we cancelled our reservations for the dining area(the hostess was so happy about this). Here is a breakdown of what we’ve had tonight: TEMPURAUDON– phenomenal. Delicious broth with buckwheat noodles which comes with a side of shrimp and vegetable tempura. I enjoyed this dish a lot! NABEYAKIUDON– loaded! This dish had the same broth as the tempura udon dish but loaded with assorted veggies, a variety of seafoods and mushrooms. There were buckwheat noodles in the broth as well. The broth, although it was the same as the broth for the tempura udon, was more light in terms of sodium level I guess because it had a more veggie(?) taste to it compared to the tempura udon. DRAGONFIRE– under the starters selections. Very, very good. Served to the table with a flame in the middle of the plate. The crablegs had so much flavor! Overall, I have no complaints regarding their food and no wonder why the place is packed. This is my second or third time at this place and so far, everything that I’ve had were delicious and fresh… Service has been on point and efficient, nothing extraordinary. Tonight, maybe because we sat at the bar and Omar, the head bartender, was making the drink orders for the whole restaurant as well as taking orders and serving meals for the people eating at the bar(that would be me), was extremely busy. He tried to be attentive and probably friendly, but he was really all-over-the-place busy. Maybe next time it will be a better experience in terms of service, I’ll cut him some slack, I’m nice that way:)

Not the first time I have been in during lunch. I continue to be impressed by their lunch special menu and sushi bar seats. This location is advertising for an additional location. I am glad they are expanding because another neighborhood deserves a good sushi place! I will tell you that they are reasonably priced in the portion sizes nice. The tea is typical Japanese tea but certain actually perfect temperature. I love sitting at the bar and watching the sushi chef prepare my mail. Overall five stars!

My 2nd review after a few years and this place still continues to amaze me. Great food and service — especially Paul and Eggy. I love the downtown ambiance and feel to the restaurant. Worse part about it — too many people know about it. Lol Fav dishes Crazy dragon and sex lady rolls. I love that you can request black rice which makes it super flavorful. yummy yum yum

Had their Malibu Sunset(drink) and BluFish Don, which was excellent. Service was great, and I went during Halloween, so most employees were dressed up. Fresh fish(Yellowtail, salmon, and tuna) along with egg and rice made the cut. Presentation was great(apple slices) and the sushi bar with blue light was super classy!

As a Northbrook native and general fatty(or do we call ourselves«foodies» these days? but I digress…) I always have an eye out for restaurants with fresh, delicious, and simple dishes that appeal to the eye as much as the palette. I have been trying to reform my fast food-laden diet towards something more«adult» and my experiences with BluFish take-out this evening have been nothing short of a magical experience. Okay, maybe ‘magical’ is a little hyperbolic, but I take Gordon Ramsay’s mantra seriously. Keep it simple, keep it fresh. In that regard BluFish Sushi delivers in spades. Seaweed salad(5⁄5): Fresh, richly seasoned seaweed on a bed on crisp mixed greens and spinach, topped with tart strips of dried apples that compliment the dish’s flavor smartly. Unagi spring rolls(5⁄5): Thin(non-fried) rice paper bbq eel spring rolls packed with a healthy serving of fresh avocado and perfectly-cooked asparagus. Ahi tuna, avocado & seaweed salad(5⁄5): Bite-sized cold chunks of savory Ahi tuna on a lavishly marinaded bed of seaweed. Garnished with alfalfa sprouts and lemon. Bonus: the seaweed salad is only $ 5! Best deal on a healthy meal you will find in Northbrook. I 100% plan on making it my new go-to lunch for work. Double bonus: BluFish is open later than one might expect, making pick up hours flexible for those of us with«non-traditional» schedules who don’t want to be limited to Chipotle and Steak’n’Shake.
