This place did change its name; it’s now Trattoria Belluno and is a sit-down restaurant with white table cloths! A lot of their dishes remained; hot & cold sandwiches, paninis and pasta. They also serve fresh baked bread from the oven with olive oil and fresh parmesan. I had that with my portabella mushroom burger which I found odd. bread, then a burger! Since they changed their name and restaurant style, I get mixed feelings about the ambiance. The dining area is set-up very elegantly, then they have their original bakery in the same room that’s very deli-like. Their burger was average and the fries were the skinny ones that I don’t like too much! Who gets a portabello mushroom burger at an Italian place anyway?(It was lunch and I didn’t want to eat too much) Next time, I’m getting pasta! I loved the cookies that I bought afterwards more than my meal. Pistacchio and the nut(forgot which one) crescent were my favorites. I wanted to try everything!

So I just found out that they offer this cannoli basket filled with mini cannolis for $ 30. Think of a basket made of cannoli shell decorated with cannoli décor and filled with mini cannolis, I think 30. Then after all the mini cannolis are done, there is a tub of filing that can be used with the cannoli basket itself. Yum. Great idea for a wedding shower, or any party. Update: 12/20/2007 This location will be undergoing a new name. Trattoria Belluno?(I think?) I bought a gift card recently and was told of the name change. The place has white table clothes and candles. Open for lunch and dinner. But no more cafeteria style, free WiFi, or sitting around with you coffee. Boo The Mini cannoli basket is $ 30 for 15 mini cannolis with cannoli basket shell and extra filling. The Large cannoli basket is $ 60 with 30 mini cannolis.

I must have missed something. My Italian sub was good but not great. Too much bread that overwhelmed the meat. The service was also too slow for a fast casual restaurant. I prefer Bacci downtown to L’App. Since its a neighborhood place, I’m sure I’ll be back.

I think this is my new favorite spot for lunch. Italian deli with authentic(and reasonably priced) cuisine, nice spacious dining area — what else could you ask for? The made-fresh pizza is Sicilian-style, which means the crust is the texture of bread. My slice of cheese pizza was generously portioned and good from start to finish. They also have tostinos: grilled sandwiches served on Italian breads(my companion had the roma — fresh mozzarella, tomatoes and marinated mushrooms. I tried a bite and it was yummy!). If that weren’t enough, L’Appetito offers desserts including Italian biscotti, pastries and tiramisu. My Sicilian father tried the cannoli I brought him, and pronounced it very good. High praise from him! They also have a selection of gelatos; my Bacci(chocolate and hazelnuts) was mouthwateringly good. This is a great find. Definitely coming back sooner rather than later.

Best Italian sandwiches and pizza in Glenview. Sicilian styled pizza. Fresh cut meats… Lovely.
