I went to the Glenview house for my sisters baby shower. I absolutely LOVED the location for our party. It was in a quite room on the top floor of the restaurant. The only reason why I am not giving this location 5 stars is because the stair to get up to the top floor are extremely steep! Definitely dangerous for older people, or maybe some who have had a bit too much to drink. Besides that, the food was amazing, the service was top of the line, and the venue is rally cute. Overall, I will definitely be going back to the Glenview house!

My fiancé and I were the first ones seated upstairs and we didn’t get another guest up there until about 20 mins after we sat down, so the service was great until that point(i’ll expand on that later). We started with the Pot Roast Nachos, they were good, wish the pot roast wasn’t just slapped on in the middle of the plate though and more spreadout through the nachos, we did that with our forks. For our entrees my fiancé got the Prime dip sandwich, first thing we thought when she got it was that it was very small, 2nd thing was the meat was extremely dry, was kind of like it was yesterday’s meat that they reheated in the microwave or something, so the au jus is VERY necessary, she didn’t want to finish it. The mash potatoes that she got though, she very much enjoyed. I got the 3 beef burger, i enjoyed the flavor very much. I asked for medium rare on it, it came back just a bit under that but i enjoyed it none the less. 2 things i didnt like with the burger though was the size, yes it was really thick, but spreading that patty a bit thinner than it was would make eating it easier, 2nd thing is the burger comes topped with mushrooms melted together with the cheese… i could count about 4 slices of mushroom, i don’t know if they think that since there’s less real estate on the top of the patty they can get away with putting less mushrooms, but i was not happy with that aspect of it, but again the meat itself had great flavor. So by the time we were done there was 4 tables up there including us, 24-person groups and 22-person groups, we had to stop eating for a good 10 mins because we were so thirsty, our waiter hadn’t been by in a long time. Also after we got our entrees we ordered drinks, i got the old fashioned and she got a draft beer. we didn’t get that until a good while after we ordered. So overall an okay eating experience, it had its ups and downs. Service wise, i don’t know if they needed another waiter in the area, but then again it was just 4 tables, so our waiter was good at the start but as soon as more guests showed up he forgot about us.

Walked in this place on a beautiful Friday night, the patio was packed but the dining area inside only had a few tables occupied. We decided to sit at the bar to be closer to the TV and there were a lot of empty seats. The beer tap and wine selections were awesome. We ordered the tomato and cucumber salad, this came with feta cheese, pine nuts and olives. They used green and red tomatoes and it was very good, the veggies were fresh and the dressing was just perfect. The only suggestion I had, which I told the bartender about, is for the tomatoes to be cut into smaller pieces. We also ordered the Kobe Sliders and we enjoyed this as well. Tender, juicy and delicious meat! I give this place 3 stars because of the service. The place was practically empty, we were seating at the bar, and yet, service sucked. We had to wait and wait and call somebody’s atention to get our orders in or to ask for another glass of wine or beer. I have been to Glenview House a few times because it’s walking distance from my place and I beleieve that the poor service is the main reason why I keep going back to the other Irish place in my area.

2.5 stars. Insert gentrification joke here. This place used to be a biker bar. Now it’s all about the decidedly mediocre bar food for inflated prices. The service was slow even though it was not near full. It took us about 10 minutes to get a server and another 10 to get our beers. The appetizers — just wow. The steak and chips is literally a few pieces of torn steak strips thrown in with some potato chips, for a ridiculous cost. My sliders(which I had as an entrée) had the smallest portion of ground beef I have EVER seen, about the size of a quarter. I had a bite of the prime dip, which tasted ok, but nothing special. Instead of getting what you pay for, you don’t get what you pay for at this place. It’s nice to spend a summer night out on the patio, but you might want to avoid the food and just stick to beers if you don’t want to bankrupt yourself.

Charming renovations from what it used to be years ago with a number of upgrades, including a rather impressive beer list, but the service was enough to turn me off to the idea of ever coming back. The bar was empty when we walked in for a small meal and drinks, and it took 5 minutes to be seated while a server was standing 5 feet from us on her phone. We asked if we should seat ourselves and the server said yes. After grabbing our own menus and picking a table, we waited. No one came to check on us or take drink orders, so after another 10 minutes I finally went to the bar, which was also empty, and still didn’t receive service. Finally a younger male server we hadn’t seen noticed me as he was walking back into the kitchen came and took our orders. Considering this place was essentially empty, I’m horrified at what service would have looked like with a few people in the restaurant. Incredibly disappointing. Wouldn’t return based on service alone. The horrible cover music playing through the speakers was also pretty atrocious, but that’s none of my business.

The food was average. The red pepper hummus was excellent — ordered the Amish chicken sandwich — it was on the dry side. The chicken tasted like it was a day old. My dining partner had the prime dip sandwich and it was delicious. The fries were mediocre. Service was average. Nothing to write home about.

I have been here plenty of times since I live close. The food is always delicious but the service is not the greatest. We were seated right away but it took the waitress around 15 minutes to come in and introduce herself. The rest of the service was pretty much the same through out the night.

If you come at 3, wait an hour for Gusto to open across the street. Slow service even when empty. Skip it. Food was mediocre.

The food and drinks were really good. I recommend the beauty fashion, butternut squash soup, and the potato skins. Service could have been better.

A bar with plenty of top craft beer choices and some basic bar food. Right in the heart of Glenview this place is not bad and is passable as a high end whiskey place.

First time here. It had a nice atmosphere and the food and beers were good. I had two wheat beers and the three beef burger. The burger was very good. My wife had the salad with lobster and she enjoyed that. I also had a couple of bites from my son’s pot roast nachos and I must say that it was pretty good. It was a Saturday night and we had reservation so no problem with waiting. All in all it was a good outing. Planning on visiting again.

There’s nothing special going on here. 100 different beers doesn’t do a thing to make me want to go to a place that just isn’t any fun. Food is just OK, and overpriced. Some of the greatest praise that is being heaped on the menu is that the writer’s toddler enjoyed his lunch. Not a ringing endorsement for a tavern that your toddler loves to go there.

I highly recommend the three-beef burger. Probably one of the best decisions I made in 2014 was ordering it. It was so memorable, in fact, that I am constantly comparing other burgers I’ve had to this one, and so far this past year, nothing I’ve had has come close. I would definitely order it again. Outside of that, some other pros of this place: – attentive service. I came with a party of 8 and we did not have any problems – outside seating in the summer/nice weather

Meh… Just food. Pot roast nachos, chips were ok, pot roast wast rather tasteless in and of itself without the heavy cheese topping. Kobe sliders, remember the only Kobe is in japan, whatever. Just ok. Not inspired. Just under $ 40 without tip for two appetizers and two beers. No value from price or quality. Service was good.

I was in the mood for some gastropub food so I made the drive to Glenview. The menu here is interesting, walking the line between gastropub and neighborhood sports bar. There are a LOT of draft beers. At the waiter’s suggestion I ended up just having the hamburger, and it proved to be a great choice. Lets see how it stacks up against my idea of a perfect hamburger: Tasty patty with a crusted outside, cooked to my specified degree of doneness(medium): Check. Bun with enough integrity that is doesn’t turn mushy, grilled or toasted: Check. Cheddar cheese: Check. Bacon option: Check. Slice of tomato: Check. Slice of raw onion: Check. Piece of crisp lettuce: Check. Mustard, mayo, ketchup: Check, check, check. Wow! A home run. Indeed, it was the perfect burger. Now I just need to return for some of that gastropub food I’d intended to get in the first place!

Ruined the place. Glenview House used to be a basic, unpretentious neighborhood bar where one could go, have a few drinks, not break the budget, not worry about dress code and have good times. It survived that way for over a hundred years and became more and more of a treasure as the decades passed. Sadly, it was bought out by two guys, gutted and turned into just another overpriced foo-foo restaurant trying to be soooooo trendy. Just like the hundreds of other wannabe restaurants in Chicago. You know, the ones that get a quick rush on opening and then go belly-up because they find the traffic isn’t sufficient to pay all the overhead and bank loans. A «Whiskey Tasting Room»? Really? They need a separate room? Apparently now elderly clientele. I didn’t try the food — stuff just too weird for me. But reading the other reviews here, it’s not good at all. They apparently only know décor, not food. So, no reason to go anymore. Sad end of an era. R.I.P.

Very nice bar in glenview! It seems to draw a little older mature clientele but I think for a fine place like this its perfect! Its the type of place u want to loosen your tie and enjoy a scotch on the rocks with a cigar in your hand cuz there was many of those minus the cigar. the buildings got a very unique style, kinda like a government building. But the insides classy and seems like people go upstairs to to ask favors from Vito Corleone! Very elegant clean, pretty large beer menu! They do play the bulls games on their tv but don’t expect the audio because this place doesn’t want that sports bar noise it goes for the more romantic date atmosphere. Ill have to try the food, but deffinetly coming back to this fine establishment!
