Very good burger for the price. It’s a little on the small side but enough. The place is out of the 40’s. I go for lunch every few weeks

The prices are good and the place has that historical feeling which I like. There are only 2 things wrong with this place. 1st, they only take cash, which is not convenient. 2nd, when they are busy they only have 1 server. Now the server that was there was working her tail off but could barely keep up with everyone. They need to hire another server.

Guess it’s OK if you are there to get drunk off cheap booze. Food is horrible and it smells bad in there like booze and pee.

I’m going to make this short… The tuna melt was delicious and filling but I could have had more tater tots. I don’t mind my food served on a styrofoam plate(paper would be better for eco friendly purposes) but the plate wasn’t big enough to hold more tater tots(not that I’m whining about it). Other than the good sandwich, yummy tater tots and decent beer/wine selections, the place is super outdated and even if it’s a non smoking restaurant/pub, the whole place smelled like cigarette smoke. They only accept cash because they still use the old cash register when you pay at the counter. They do not have a dessert menu although they sell chocolate bars by the counter area for 99 cents each and they have beer cans and cigarettes for sale there as well. So yeah… That’s all I can say:)

Meyer’s Tavern stands out from all the great restaurants in Chicagoland but in a bad way. I had something like a French Dip, but I’m not exactly sure what it was dipped in. The sides were a perfect compliment in that they were equally sub –par. In fact, all of the flavors were remarkably bland. The bread the sandwich was served in is the same stuff they sell at low cost grocery outlets — on the bottom shelf. The service was poor. But the old farmhouse is charming.

Not my first time to Here and won’t be my last. For me it’s mostly a waypoint passing through as there’s not much else further East. Good prices, big beers and still drinks. Every visit mostly dudes — have not seen many women. Here for the drinks and watch part of a game, and for those reasons it works for me.

This is one of the few remaining true bars left in the area and they have TATERTOTS! The food is mediocre except for the tots which are fantastic. Just like those from grade school lunches. Extra tots please and a coors light… heaven.

Patty melt with tator tots(I like them well done) and some tasty ive cold draft beer. Where am I? Friggin utopia my brothers and sisters! Old school tavern divey(in a very good way) feel. You couldn’t franchise this place becaisr of its authenticity. Wonderful spot with nice staff and friendly patrons. Eat, drink, laugh and enjoy my friends.

No frills, no card, cash only. This place it’s older than me. No matter who you are, you feel like family here. I’ve been coming for several years and I’ll keep coming back so long at it doesn’t change

Really paper plates!!! Food was served on a paper plate Service is bad. I ran out of water. I had to call her to ask her for more water. And when I asked her what’s the best food they serve here. She said I don’t know it’s all the same. Food was ok nothing new.

fantastic patty melt. Prepared as I ordered medium rare. Grilled onions were perfect! Not soggy or over grilled and greasy. Rye bread was fresh. Great melt. Chuck the bartender is a friendly guy, like to bust your chops a bit, which fits this joint. DAB on tap. Great place to watch March Madness

The food is very no-frills and nothing fancy, but the sandwiches are good. First and foremost, it’s a tavern not a restaurant. Not even pretending to be. Where Meier’s excels is in it’s timeless atmosphere. You really can’t ask for a more authentic roadside tavern circa the 1940’s. Step back into time here and enjoy the historic timelessness of the place. Wooden beams, curtained windows, checkered tablecloths, old faded framed photos, the whole bit. It’s real, not carefully constructed by TGI McFridays corporate office somewhere, cashing in on half-baked attempts at folksy Americana. The service is genuine and i’ve chatted at the bar a few times and enjoyed the conversation. DAB is served on tap in it’s own mug, like I said nothing has changed for decades. Places like this are rapidly disappearing, and sadly those raised on fast food chains don’t even know why they’re important anymore.

This tavern has seen its better days. Virtually no choice of beers unless you like Dab(yech); sandwiches are cheap but don’t taste like much.

Last Friday’s fish fry was delicious! Even my husband who has never been a fish eater LOVED it. Meier’s «signature» Dab beer on tap went really well. Kids love the tator tots. Never been a fan of meier’s styrofoam plates but that does not keep me away.

For my first time here, I’m not impressed. I hate it when places serve food but then don’t care about the quality ATALL. Everything came on styrofoam plates which just seems lazy; just buy plastic baskets and line them, its a much better presentation. The calamari was greasy & rubbery. The burgers were ok. The grilled ham and cheese had one measly slice of cheese and came out lukewarm. All of us got tots, but each of us only had about 8 tots on our plate. I dont know if that is customary or they were just being cheap with the portions tonight. Also, the waitress seemed bothered to be serving us because she would rather go sit and chat with a table of regulars that she knew. I will only come back here again if its just for drinks.

I have been coming to this place since I was a kid and still go back for a great burger with tater tots and a large Dab. The onion rings are some of the best I have had anywhere. I like the waitresses and the bartenders as they have all worked there for many years. Marge is my favorite waitress(sweetheart) and Will the bartender is a great guy. As for the owner, this guy has the personality of one of the ketchup packets sitting on the table. You would think after me coming to your restaurant for over 35 years I would know his name and he would know mine. NOPE! I have walked in countless times and said hello and he pretends like he didn’t hear you. Now, for the past couple of years the owners son works there. I’m assuming it’s his son because I did not think it was possible for someone to have a worse personality than the owner BUT, I was wrong. The son is a fat, unfriendly, useless turd with greased back hair that sits around and watches TV all day. I never see either of them interacting with the customers. I came in last Saturday, the son was standing by the door when I walked in, so I said«hello». No response, not even a head nod. Then I went to pay after we ate, I said, «how’s it going» once again, no response. He did not ask how our meal was, thanks for coming, NADA! After fatty turned around to give me my change, I realized he had an earpiece in his ear and was on a personal call. Are you kidding me? If you hate the restaurant business and people, why do you own one. Just remember that the reason your doors are still open are because of your customers.

It was my friend’s birthday and our waitress brought us a styrofoam plate covered with tootsie roll pops and york peppermint patties and a round of complimentary shots for the table. The grand total for 3DABS and a lot of whiskey was $ 40.00. AMAZING deal. So many Wilmette parents reliving their glory days. Great place.

This place is an old school no frills tavern but has tons of character. Great old long bar lots of old photos and signs and always a local favorite. The food is simple and served dive bar style on styrofoam plates but it’s affordable and good. I love their egg salad sandwich although wish they would upgrade the bread. Oh well the fact you can get tator tots makes up for it. MMM… TATORTOTS… It’s a historic old tavern definitely worth stopping in.

We still love coming here. Good burgers, great tots, nice people and friendly service. We’ve probably been here a dozen times and never had a bad experience. It is like a pleasurable slide back in time for an hour or two. What’s not to love?

I’m really torn about how to rate this place. It is really such a dive that it is almost cute. This place is such a throwback that it could be Archie Bunker’s bar. Nothing fancy here, just a blue collar bar with your basic beer drinking crowd. Walk on in and seat yourself. Take a choice of some good ol’ brews. Not really any of the crafty stuff. Order yourself up real Ameericaan food, like burgers, grilled cheese and of course, tater tots. I had me some grilled ham and cheddar on rye with a side of tots, served on a Styrofoam plate. It certainly tasted good and reminded me of my childhood — except for the beer on the side of course. Not sure I’m ready to become a regular here but it was fun to check it out.
