Quality ingredients and amazing recipes make for the BEST of the BEST on the north shore… SPIRO’S is iconic and a must have again and again! This family-​owned business has been around for decades which tells you owner PETER is doing EVERYTHING right! We love everything but are partial to the bomber, his corned-​beef sammies, chicken pita and his amazing fresh cut FRIES!!! We love that PETER is always there to catch up with… he really cares about his business and the families in Glenview and the surrounding communities. We are lucky to have SPIRO’S in our midst! If I could award MORE stars… I would! Go get it!

This is my favorite «go to» when you want the authentic beef sandwich. The guys behind the counter are friendly and fast.
The «bomb» is famous but everything on the menu is great.
Highly recommended.

There are plenty of places to get a beef sandwich in Chicago. This is without a doubt the finest. Forget Johnnies, Als, etc., this is the only place to go when you’re looking for the head stash. Period.

OMG, THE BEST! Absolutely the best in town! First off, the fries are to die for! I’ve been here countless times and I have ordered so many different things off the menu from Spiro’s and have NEVER been disappointed. Spiro’s is our go-​to place for lunch orders at work. The owner is one-​of-​a-​kind man who runs quite an establishment! I would not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone looking for a mouth watering meal!

After work tonight, I took a motorcycle ride to find a new place to go for dinner. I started riding through Skokie, Evanston, Wilmette and eventually wound up in Glenview. I remembered reading a recent Unilocal email about great Sandwich Shops in the North Shore just as I rode past Spiro’s Deli. I’ve driven past this place at least 500 times over the past 20 years, but never stopped in. So I turned around this time and went in.
They were still open (they close at 7PM Mon-​Fri) and I was greeted by Peter, the owner. I told him I was a first timer and asked what he would recommend. Without hesitation, he said, «The Bomber».
Done! Let’s just say: The Bomber is a really great sandwich and takes the Italian Beef sandwich to a different level. Now, I’m going to have to come back to try their other items.

I absolutely LOVE this place. The food always comes out FRESH and the staff is incredibly friendly. The Bomber is definitely a go-​to but be sure to try their cold subs, my favorite is the Italian meats. Their Greek salad is amazing as well. Its HUGE and so FLAVORFUL. This place may be a little more pricey for a get-​it-​a-​go type but trust me you wont be disappointed and it’s totally worth the money.

Yummy! I travel the globe and have fun looking for fantastic Gyros. Dang, Spiro’s has Gyros that probably should be declared «addictive»! Perfect juicy meat, nice soft and textured pita and plenty of sauce (order it loaded). A lot of places (I will leave nameless) serve dry meat and skimp on the white sauce. Spirio’s are friendly folks that care for their customer’s. It’s a local hole in the wall type of place with a simple hand full of tables and does a good bit of carryout and catering.
Another outstanding Spirio’s offering is the Bomber, an Italian beef creation best ordered loaded. Get pleanty of napkins. These folks don’t skimp.
This is seriously fun food for seriously hungry folks.

Guy behind the counter was eating food (maybe he was hungry); why would you do such an unhygienic thing??? while talking the order anyways decided to try; had the chicken Philly; just grilled chicken instead of actually doing it Philly style with no mushrooms and peppers ;

Pete is the greatest. Give me a bomber with extra pickles and send me straight to heaven. If I could only have one last meal before I die this would be it. No frills just good food and good peeps. A local favorite.

I’ve been going to this restaurant since I was a child. The Gyros & the Poor Boy are legit. But it’s the Bomber that is my favorite. It’s the best beef sandwich in Chicagoland IMHO.

Anyone who gave this shop less than 5 stars is a soul-​less, cold, wired-​up robot that needs to be eaten and ground up in a spam filter. And they are jealous competition because Spiro’s is the undeniable champion of the sangwich.
Then I-​talian sub was where I began my fantasmal relationship with the Spiro’s sangwich. 9″ on sesame bread, freshly-​baked and a little crisp on the bite with a soft and delicious inner-​bread, with everything on it. The meats were on point, the cheese was fresh and delicious and pronounced in every bite, all of it topped off with oil&vinegar which were balanced perfectly.
On my first visit I was enticed by the allure of the Alpine Burger, with it’s mushrooms and swiss cheese and grilled onions, but I remained faithful to the I-​talian. But the second visit I heeded the siren’s song and ordered the Alpine. Outstanding. Absolutely outstanding. The menu board says 1/​3lb burgers, but the thing was the size of 2 fists and the flavor’s hit me as such! French fries were fresh cut and crispy, couldn’t ask for more.
3’s a crowd. Unless you get 3 Bombers from Spiro’s then it’s infatuation. The bomber lived up to it’s name, it’s
(Ugh that was weak I know I’m so ashamed) but taking their outstanding I-​talian beef sangwich and kicking it up a notch sounds like a recipe for disaster. Nothing could be further from the truth. The mayo on the bread of a hot sangwich may have led to some drippage (on the plate, easy there…) but with melted swiss cheese and veggies accompanying it, on sesame bread? Outta sight. And of course, the crisp, golden brown, hand-​cut French fries.
**I’m a sangwich connoisseur, I’ve had the best sangwiches across the country, Spiro’s sangwiches don’t shut up they put up.

Yep! Great sandwich place. Bomber is outstanding. Not perfect for the pinkie swagging martini drinking Mother-​something looking for a healthy option for her Junior but for the blue collar man looking for a little more than a bologna sandwhich, this is what you want. The service is GREAT (though «Spiro» is a bit surly, in an awesome way), can’t ask for a better lunch pale lunch visit. Seems like a beef stand but the options are so much more. If you are working hard with a hard hat or service cap, visit Mr. Spiro because he get’s it. Quality lunch with solid service. That is all!

Update — been back 5 – 6 times to try few other items all good good, bomber really good. Think I could just order «lunch» and be happy with whatever they put in the bag plus the
fries are so good I can eat them naked ;)

Can’t wait try bomber and the eggs sandwich.

This is a solid place for what it is — I am much more on board with their cold sandwiches versus the hot ones though — I’ll get my Italian beefs and gyros at places that focus more on those kind of meals.
If I lived nearby, I’d be more prone to take out from here as it pretty drab atmospherewise. But don’t go there for the scenery, go for the Bomber — it’s pretty good.
