Kelsick has a good variety of beer, wine, drink accessories and cooking accessories and it also has a very good selection of specially chocolates, chips, jams, etc. This is a great place to pick up things for a dinner party or to pick up some beer you haven’t tried yet.

I really like this little store! They have spices which you can purchase by the ounce, which I love. They also have a great beer/wine and cheese selection. Occasionally, I’ve purchased some of their frozen dinners and breads, which have all been good too! This is also a great place to make a food-related gift basket for someone(with teas, specialty crackers, balsamic, cheeses, chocolates, etc.). The only thing that would make this store better, would be if they had a somewhat larger selection of items, especially in their shelved food section. Other than that, they’re good to go!

Kelsick Garden recently hosted their second annual oyster tasting in conjunction with the Tidewater Oyster Growers Association. It was a great event! But, I also had a chance to go into the store to check out what they did in moving to their new location. I was pleasantly surprised. They have a very nice wine selection and lots of food products that I will be buying for cooking at home(like andoille sausage for gumbo, bison hot dogs from a local bison ranch near Tappahannock, and much more. If you are local, you should stop by and check it out. If you are passing through on Rt 17, it is worth the short detour into the Gloucester Courthouse area. And, if you like oysters, check out the oyster tasting event next November.
