This is an AMAZING store and Gloucester is lucky to have it. Pam and Melissa are in charge(Pam is customer service and Melissa does the books and arranges the clothes into outfits and displays) and are wonderful. The fashions are unique, good for work or play and very travel-friendly. Pam and Melissa will also remember you after your first visit and treat you like their only customer, as well as help you pick out outfits when you are in a rush or just clueless about what to wear. I also noticed that there are clothes there for women of any size or age, so this is a place you can go to get gifts or to shop with your mom, your daughter, even your grandma :-). This store keeps me shopping in town for my leisure and professional clothes and I get raves about these outfits no matter what country or city I am. Oh and the prices are very reasonable, sales are frequent :-)

I’m surprised that no one else has reviewed the Magic Scarf! It’s really a great store in downtown Gloucester. It features clothes, trinkets, and jewelry(plus some other items) from mostly India and Nepal. The staff is excellent, and extremely friendly. I was once walking by and the cashier recognized me and came outside to yell hello. Believe me, that is rare in this area! The staff is also very helpful if you have a question, and they’ll give you their honest opinion on an item. My mother was visiting and tried on some not so flattering jeans and the cashier actually told her that she could find a better pair. The prices are reasonable. It’s certainly a unique store for Gloucester. I think only the Floating Lotus, a new store in Rockport, is even remotely similar and even that one is going for a different crowd. The jewelry is nice, not overly expensive and the clothing is the typical Indian fare. They had those popcorn shirts that are now all the rage at least three years ago. They also sell some cutesy items like jeweled eyeglass cases and socks that expand in water(not sure what they’re called). Parking is ample since it’s located in downtown Gloucester. Their hours are a little funky– I think they are closed one day a week and open later than most stores. They used to be open all of the time so I hope this isn’t an indication that they may not be there much longer as they would be sorely missed. If you find yourself perusing the shops in Gloucester be sure to stop in. It’s a nice change of pace from most of the shops trying to sell fisherman themed merchandise to tourists!
