I intern at Maritime Gloucester down the street in the summer, so I eat here fairly often, and I always have a good experience. The roast beef is flavorful, almost as good as the legendary nick’s in Beverly, though on some days it can be a little dry, which is easily remedied by getting hot sauce on it, which I highly recommend. I love the 50’s diner aesthetic and the service is standard. They used to have mercury soda as well which I loves, but they removed it. Understandable because it didn’t sell all that well, but still a tad disappointing. I reccomend supreme’s wholeheartedly, one of the many great places on main street.

Good food, very large portions, you won’t go hungry. Fried haddock sandwich was crispy good, so we’re the fries. Steak bomb was hot n good. Enough for 2 unless you are super hungry. Old diner atmosphere mostly clean.

We had guests from out of town and they wanted to go to Good Harbor Beach so off we went. My sister, her hubby and his local nephew piled into the car with me behind the wheel and after the beach we set off in search of vittles. We drove by this place and one of our party yelled out«diner!» while another screamed«roast beef!» so I parked right across the street(meter) and in we went. As none of us had been there before it took quite a while for us to read over the menu posted behind the counter. The woman working the counter was patient and very helpful in answering all our questions. We finally got our act together, ordered and grabbed a table. The place is small but very tidy and efficiently laid out. The ladies’ restroom was spartan but spotless which is always nice. We waited about 15 minutes for our lunch and it was well worth the wait. I had the steak/cheese sub which was large and absolutely jam packed with piping hot, gooey goodness. The roll was soft and fresh and the meat and veggies were perfectly cooked. It took forever to eat this thing, it seemed to stay the same size with every bite. Two of my companions had roast beef in different forms and they both loved it; one commented that even though he was stuffed he wished he’d ordered a larger one because it was so good. Diner #4 had a burger that was cooked to order and devoured quickly. We shared a massive order of fries that looked barely touched by the time we were all full. I hope we can find this place again next time we’re in Gloucester — would not hesitate to stop for lunch while sightseeing with visitors.

I would drive to Beverly and buy Nicks before I ate here ever again. Worst roast beef I’ve ever had. Dry and cold when I got it. They said it would be ready in 15 minutes, I showed up after and had to wait for my fries. My roll was also stale. I would not recommen this place to ANYONE.

We saw this driving through Gloucester while in town for a wedding. I literally saw it and said ‘I want to eat there.’ Because who can turn down a silver-sided classic 1950s diner? No one! I Unilocaled it before we went in, and the reviews were, well, they aren’t great. We liked it though. Service was prompt, friendly, attentive. Price was dead on. Food was out in less than ten minutes. Dad got a dog(a puppy the lady at the counter called it), and I got the steak sandwich. You want high class taste put together with exquisite care and aesthetics? This isn’t the place for you. You want above average diner food? Go to Supreme Roast Beef. I was well sated afterwards, dad was happy, and let’s talk about the onion rings. Made on site from actual onions they cut themselves? We had to add a little salt but otherwise they were PERFECT. There’s a lot of great places to eat in Gloucester. If I were back in the city, yea, sure, I’d probably forego the place to try something new. But if I’m looking for simple and cheap, this would be number one spot. …come to think of it, it would probably make great hangover food.

Last year the East Coast taught me about roast beef sandwiches and this year, Supreme Roast Beef helped me earn my advanced degree in RBS. Inside, the updated 50’s diner is cozy and simple. The lady behind the counter was patient and friendly even when it was painfully obvious that I didn’t know how to properly order the sandwich. She taught me about the 3-way(c’mon, who didn’t experiment a little in college, right?) and the accompaniments. The roast beef was warm, pink and thinly sliced. Served on an onion roll and it was superb. For those who complained about the fried food options, I submit this: Would you go to Georgetown International School of Business to study the violin? Come here for the Roast Beef. It’ll be the best class you ever attended.(I hear you can audit the course as many times as you want too!)

This place is a typical looking diner but with much better than typical roast beef! The home made onion rings were amazing! The staff was friendly and fast. Great place for roast beef! My boyfriend liked the fish and chips too!

Roast beef calzone is awesome and I love the fries! Buffalo chicken pizza and gyro pizza are also very cool. But NEVER trust delivery. I have never had the order be right. Either they mess something up or forget something and the delivery is an outside service so they are not happy when they have to come back and fix the order. New owners suck!

First, I should confess that my boyfriend and I came here because this place was featured in a British TV show called«Three Men Go To New England,» part of the Three Men In A Boat series. And we’re not opposed to fried food, or the Roast Beef sandwich thing popular in the area. But this wasn’t very good. The portion are very large. So if you just want *calories*, this is probably a great place. But by the time they finally managed to get my boyfriend’s Super Beef Sandwich on an Onion roll out, the onion rings were cold. And the mozzarella sticks(which, btw, are from the same mediocre supplier my high school got them from) were still kinda warm, but just barely. And then he ate it, and it was okay, I suppose, but it wasn’t really all that warm, and the onion roll wasn’t all that onioney, and my boyfriend, whose life motto is to never leave a pickle behind, just kind of ignored them.(«The pickles were disgusting» he laments.) And I sat there eating the mediocre onion rings. The cold, desperately in need of seasoning or flavor, onion rings. The two people that ordered right before us ate their clam baskets, finished, sat there for a bit, and then left. And then at some point AFTER that, I got my shrimp basket. The shrimp were VERY hot, but when they cooled down enough to eat, they were, y’know, okay. The very generous helping of fries underneath were again, bland and whatever. The clear standout was the coleslaw. Both my boyfriend and I had no doubt in our mind it was actually pretty good, and much better than anything else. Neither of us LIKE coleslaw. So, I’m glad I went, because otherwise I would always have been curious. But we spent $ 26 to walk out, discussing where we were going to ACTUALLY eat for dinner. Next time I want fried seafood and large roast beef sandwiches, we’ll go elsewhere.

Good food and value. Lots to choose from menu. Not open late like the last owners. Staff always seems very unorganized if not clueless every time I’ve been there. Maybe it’s just hard to find good help these days. Cool old fashion diner but«old» sums it up.

First, the sandwiches are huge. The prices are cheap. The real and lean roast beef on a seeded bun was thin cut, cooked medium and excellent. My kids had a pizza and it was very good. Onion rings and fries were solid, cooked in fresh oil. Greek salad was good. Décor is minimal — who cares? You order at the counter and don’t wait long. Being crazy for roast beef, I thoroughly enjoyed my meal.

Great food, super prices. Everything I’ve had there so far has been fresh. The portions hare HUGE and the staff is friendly. Looking forward to making this a regular haunt. Not looking forward to the weight I’ll be packing on as a result of that!

I stopped here after a day at the beach with a craving for a sandwich(not the usual seafood craving that I get when that close to the ocean, to my surprise) and I definitely found what I was looking for. We got the #1, which is a large roast beef sandwich, fries and a soda for $ 7.95. My fiancé pointed out that it is good a place with roast beef in their name makes their first special a roast beef sandwich. The sandwich itself was delicious and made to order, the fries were fresh and the service was quick. The atmosphere is kitschy and the walls have neat vintage ads and pictures hanging up. The bathrooms were clean, which is good because if you enjoy your sandwich as much as I did, it is going to be all over your hands(and face…). We will definitely be back this summer, and I hope to have a seafood craving because they offer a whole lot of fried creatures!

I recently went here on a whim, enticed by the bona fide diner look and the«Greek Salad with Chicken $ 4.95» sign in the window. It must have been clear that this was my first time at Supreme, because the motherly woman behind the counter immediately offered to help me find what I wanted on the menu. I asked about the Greek Salad offering and she, along with the woman standing beside me in line, assured me that it was fantastic(the patron by my side claimed she eats one at least 5 times a week). Even though I know that more often than not, these people are just telling me what I want to hear, I decided to go for it. The woman cheerfully asked me what kind of dressing I wanted and led me to a booth where I eagerly awaited this dynamite salad. Apparently I’d gotten there just in time, because within ten minutes, the entire restaurant was filled with people. One of the guys in the kitchen came out and asked me if I wanted feta and onions on my salad – is that even a question? – and I was promptly presented with the Greek salad of my dreams. The chicken was moist and full of flavor, the feta was soft and crumbly. There was an ample amount of lettuce, tomato, and finely sliced red onion, along with a perfectly scant sprinkling of black olives. The vinaigrette was fab, AND they gave me a free pita! Jack. Pot. The service was spot-on: attentive when I wanted them to be, but knew how to let me enjoy my meal in peace. All in all, a great place for a quick, delicious, and CHEAP lunch.(The salad was so big I took it home and finished it off the next day. Talk about great value!)

Best roast beef in town! Supreme is owned by the same family who operates the Supreme Roast Beef out of Danvers, MA. The sandwiches come hot, thin slices, and rare — just how it should be! Get it 3-way if you want sauce, cheese and mayo. That’s how the locals order it. The fries are good and the service comes with a smile. Always a pleasure to eat at Supremes!
