A somewhat diamond in the rough spot on the edge of Gloucester. The best part is the proximity Long Beach and Good Harbor Beach, but manages to serve subs and other take out items… it also helps to be next to an ice cream place. The food is very decent, and I recommend trying some of the specialties. The pizza however is nothing to write home about I’m afraid. Good but fairly average. The staff is very nice and quick to respond to you. The prices aren’t exactly the best around, and I get that… they’re banking on beach goers to come in and pay a little more for the convenience of it all. Also I am a little hurt they no longer service sandwiches with the locally famous Trupiano’s sausages any more… the new stuff has turned me away. If you’re in the area of the beach or heading into Rockport, you can’t go wrong, but if you’re not… don’t feel too compelled to go out of your way.

Thought this was the place we loved from last year but was wrong. The subs are greasy and overpriced. I got a BLT and the bacon was flabby. With so many other options, I would pass on this location unless you are going for the ice cream.

Okay Pizza, not enough topping for my taste. I had the meatball and while tasty, just not enough topping for my taste. Huge pizza. Haven’t tried anything else here.

$ 9.10 for an Italian sub with no drink? Good sub but way overpriced. $ 10 for a Greek salad that you can get at market basket for $ 2.99, again way over priced. On Tuesdays they have an excellent lobster roll for $ 9.99. Bottom line, I only go on Tuesdays.

As a local of Gloucester, I had eaten a Sub from Surfside on one occasion. It was good and a bit overpriced compared to other sub shops in the area. Despite the price because the chicken salad was good(and mostly its vicinity to Long Beach Dairy Maid) we went back to try it again. last night’s experience was ABSOLUTELY awful and I would never return again. I have worked in restaurant service for years and have never seen such a disorganized kitchen or poor customer service from what seemed to be the man in charge. First: We stood in line for over 30 minutes. There were only three people ahead of us. There is no streamlined system of pick up orders so each time a pick up order comes in, they cut the line of customers ordering to pay. Which does not help the line. In addition to this they have the girl at the cashier the same one packing up all the food and running around doing so many different tasks. Not her fault — poor management. Secondly, the entire time we were in line the delivery boy was struggling to confirm the address for a delivery order. The girl at the front desk nor any other staff tried to help him. He was on the phone with the customer when in fact the desk staff spelled the address incorrectly and treated him embarrassingly disrespectful when it was in fact not his fault. At this point a customer in line had to help him with the address because she knew of the area. To top it off we finally got close to the counter, and yes it was lobster roll night and the staff member on the phone had apparently sold the last lobster roll but so did the girl at the cashier. Mind you the problem was not the lobster roll special, we were not planning on ordering this. At this point the man who seemed to be in charge ran to the front and started yelling at all staff to figure out where the lobsters shall go. Mind you we had been waiting in line for OVER30 minutes at this point. I clearly had frustration on my face because like I said before it wasn’t as if the line was long there were three people ahead of us. He looked at us and yelled you’re going to have to wait in a raised, offensive tone. We left. How dare someone speak to paying, patient customers like this? I will never go back here after such poor management, disjointed pickup orders v. customers in line system and disrespect of both staff and customers. I recomend you don’t either.

Fabulous pizza(we had chicken pesto and a margherita) and ice cream(long beach dairy maid) is excellent too. They carry Gifford’s hard serve… the kiddie size is 2 full scoops! Long line but with 3 windows open it moves quickly.

For an Italian originally from Gloucester where can we get a great pizza. Surfside isn’t bad it is just not great. However they do use fresh basil which is a big bonus in my books. I like for them to be open all year cause I would order take out when I want pizza, because I am a big pizza fan and so far in Glosta Surfside is pretty good. I wish they made a deep dish pizza too I can’t find anyone who does. So keep fresh ingredients hand Surf side and I will be writing a more favorable review cause I be getting take out all the time.

Pretty good gluten free pizza according to my buddy! I enjoyed the local fave, mudiga steak bomb. Really need to work in counter help. Really need a bit more knowledge and a way bigger smile !!! It was a quick pick but worth it !!

. In the area for business and my husband and son had eaten here a few days prior and really liked it. My husband and I stopped late but they still served us as if it was 11am. The burger subs with chips, were great and hit the spot. The only bummer was that the ice cream store was closed when we were done eating. Hopefully we will be in the area again. Good eats and good service.

I ordered a pizza online and my card was charged, when the delivery showed up the guy said it was a cash order. I paid twice for the same order! Other than that, he was 20 mins late with my pizza and it was seriously burnt, with the sides folded from the delivery box being thrown around. Very sloppy work $ 18+ for a large pizza, not worth it! Domino, Papa Gino’s is better than this for what its worth.

Unfortunately I’m going to have to downgrade this one for 2 reasons. The first is that after the first couple of stellar experiences, we got a series of burnt pizzas; not«deeply brown» mind you, burnt. The second is the price. $ 20 is pretty expensive for a pizza… even a good one. This is especially true if you get delivery because they nail you with a delivery fee. The last time we ordered(months ago at this point), it was over $ 40 for 1 pizza and a sub including all the taxes, tip and fees. Wow. Looks like we’re back to driving out to Captain Hooks…

Pizza was burnt around the crust… sweaty pizza maker was wearing skimpy under shirt with no sleeves(aka wife beater) and big gold chain… couldn’t stop thinking this is not a clean way to prepare food.

Ordered delivery to our oceanfront hotel. Love the fact they had online ordering directly through Unilocal. Pizzas were delicious and took advantage of the Tuesday lobster roll deal. It was also delicious. Highly recommend!

Got delivery here via Unilocal’s form. Probably not worth the $ 10 minimum plus $ 3 delivery fee plus tip plus whatever % probably hikes up the prices like mix menu does. So pick it up or order from somewhere that doesn’t charge for delivery like Nonni’s. I got a steak and cheese and it was decent. The bread was fantastic. Nothing to write home about but it probably would have been even better if I ate it there.

I’ve often driven by this quintessential beachside ice cream/sandwich joint while passing Good Harbor Beach. A few years back, I went for ice cream. What I didn’t know until this past week was that these guys bake a phenomenal pizza… and they deliver to Rockport and Gloucester. The pizza is New York style(it’s OK, you Sawx fans can enjoy it too!) with thin, slightly charred crust. I ordered the Classico, which comes with tomato sauce, cheese artichokes, pepperoni, mushrooms, and little strips of fresh basil on top. They charge a small delivery fee and the price is pretty steep($ 20), but the pies are very big and could easily feed a family of four. Easily the best pizza I’ve had in the area. A final note: the lobster rolls are sub-standard(not terrible, just not great — lots of mayonnaise, a small amount of lobster, butter-fried rolls.) Stick with the pizza and you won’t be disappointed.

NOWOPENYEARROUND! YOUMUSTGOHERE! The best pizza in the area! Real pizza for real pizza lovers(think big NY slices with quality toppings). Hand-tossed thin crust with a tomato and basil sauce, great cheese, and great toppings. The slices are huge and tasty, and the Wednesday buy one pizza get a second one(cheese) for $ 3 is great! The dough tastes fresh, just yeasty enough and just thin enough. Staff is great — caring and quick. For the record I don’t own the place or work there. I’d probably gain 40 pounds if I did…

Outstanding subs, best I have had in Gloucester. I had both the lobster roll and steak and cheese, which were awesome! Very convenient to Long and Good Harbor beaches, so of you are looking for good, quick food, Surfside is the place to go!

The new owner, Matt Olson, of Surfside subs is hitting a home run. Quality ingredients for all, and the best lobster roll around. The real thing, 5 oz. of lobster meat per sandwich, Cain’s mayo, and no other fillers, like celery, lettuce. And Matt serves up an outstanding pizza, the best test is the Margharita. Thin crusty pie, with super tomato sauce. Multiple visits are a must.
