I received 6 physical therapy sessions for low back pain that ranged from 30 min to 50 min in length and was charged $ 661.00 per visit! I had the charges reviewed and was told they were accurate charges. Had I known up front that this therapy would be costing me nearly $ 4,000 I think I would have preferred to keep the back pain. The therapist was good in helping me build my core strength, but there have to be cheaper ways to do it. I check with other sites after my bill came and most other sites charge only 1⁄3 to ½ this amount. Advice: SHOPAROUND!

I have been using Courage Center’s warm pool for aquatic therapy for about 3 months now and I love it. I suffered a broken back, leg, and ankle in a car accident last year and I failed on multiple tries with traditional physical therapy. Finally my doctor told me she did not want me to do any strengthening outside of the pool and sent an order over to Courage Center. I worked with a therapist for 6 sessions until I was familiar enough with the exercises for them to let me loose for solo aquatic therapy. Now I have a 3-month pass and I try hard to exercise in the pool twice a week. Working out in the pool is hard and I certainly feel the effects, but I have not had the types of setbacks that I used to experience with other types of physical therapy. I can feel myself getting stronger. Courage Center has what seems like a generous schedule for solo aquatic therapy, so I can usually find time in my schedule during the week to exercise. The only issue that I had wtih Courage Center was administrative. My doctor had to send the orders over to Courage Center twice and it took several weeks for me to get my initial appointment. I’m not sure if it was because there is a backlog for therapy appointments or if the back-office was just disorganized. Also, it took a few weeks for me to get in-pool appointments after my initial assessment.

My daughter has been doing physical therapy here for 2 years and we have a fantastic pediatric PT who is very dedicated. We’ve also done a little occupational therapy which was good. Never used the pool, but it looks like a good time, and we mess around in the gym sometimes. And I like that they have a little playground outside and a creek-side glen where we can hang out before or after appointments. Courage Center has a reputation for being able to handle disabled adults who others don’t know what to do with.

The Courage Center has changed millions of people with disabilities lives for the better, including mine. I lived in their residence program for 8 months after graduating from high school, and was transformed into a strong woman not afraid to live independently. From their warm 90 degree pool to their adapted yoga classes taught by Matthew Sanford, the Courage Center is one of the best comprehensive rehab facilities in the country. One note however: They tend to be very tactless when it comes to collecting $ for fees for athletic classes. Some of their employees can be rather insensitive to disabilities, which is rather surprising.
