And yet there was more. For in this crisp time when autumn begins to fade the chef brines chicken in habanero and even at habanero powder to the crust. But the heat is restrained. You experience the fruity, delicious flavour of this without any spicy pain. I don’t need any more pain. Hell, does anyone? It’s one of a few larger dishes available for actual ordering off a short, printed menu. In finality, I would say that my experience at Applebee’s was sublime and my treatment near that of a gladiator most decorated. But the street parking wasn’t that great. 2 ½ Stars

Myself and a colleague had a wonderful dinner. The staff made the evening very enjoyable. We would come back again for sure!

We had a horrible experience here tonight. It took an hour for our food to come. Applebee’s food is not so great that you want to wait an hour for it. And that was just to get a couple of Caesar salads. It was longer before the entrees arrived. Both my steak and my wife’s salmon were overcooked. I guess that’s why they took so long. We also waited a good 15 minutes for dessert and yet several more minutes for coffee. I don’t know if the fault was in our server or in the kitchen, but it was seems inexcusable. People who arrived after us got their food before we did. The waiter was apologetic and obsequious. I couldn’t tell if he really felt bad for us or was just concerned about his tip. He said he would talk to the manager but I don’t think he did. I thought maybe they would take something off the bill, at least a dessert, but no such luck. We will not be back.

My husband and I frequent this place because of the awesome service these people provide. They remember us every time. They know our name and know what we like. The food is decent the beer is cold and they have football on the screens!

Service was ok but not great. The burger was one of the worst I have ever had. No lettuce and no tomato, just meat cheese and bun. Didn’t really seem that clean and modern either.

Celiacs beware! Not allergen friendly. Serves me right for failing to read the Unilocal reviews. My work placed me in the Hampton behind your restaurant. I decided to give you a go solely on the fact that there are no sidewalks to get anywhere in this locale. What’s up with that Goldsboro? I suppose the appearance of the staff having been left over from the grunge style of 30 years ago should have been my first clue. Maybe the fact your allergen menu being a couple months out of date should have ended my patience. But no, I hung in there. Then I learned something. You do not serve the Ribeye or the NY strip listed as safe on the gluten free list. So, the truth is, not only is the Applebees published allergen list available to you not maintained to date, it is not maintained for content either. In other words, you just plain don’t care. Applebees staff, Celiac sufferers(and others with food sensitivities) cannot trust you or your intentions when things like this happen. Considering your manager never came out if his hole to discuss the allergen menu, this was your last chance with me Applebees. You have lost me forever.

I have reviewed several Applebee’s locations this past year because I do travel quite a bit. I do find some of the other limited reviews of this location to be unfair. As I have stated in other reviews of most franchised restaurants, this place with never win any Michelin Stars… and they are not trying too. They serve an easy to prepare menu of decent food at very good price. There are no $ 30 steaks on the menu and does not have things that most American can not pronounce. As usual I ordered a sirloin steak, mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli. The steak was done properly, the potatoes were wonderful and the broccoli was well, broccoli. Although broccoli is good for you it disapates heat rapidly so it is almost always room temperature before you get half way into your steak. If you want hot broccoli, eat it all as soon as it comes to you. Do not blame the servers if it gets cold faster than you consume it. The servers can not change the physics of heat disapation. As for the complaint of still felt hungry when you left… order more food. They are not going to adjust portion size to each individual’s expectation of portion size. I am 6’2″ and 210. I have never even remotely thought about complaining about portion size. For desert I was asked to try new caramel bites. Not having a menu in front of me I said okay. When my exceptional bartender Crystal recommended them I said okay. When they arrived I instantly realized they were the pretzel bites I ordered in Sanford, NC the previous month. Difference is that this desert is completely different in all aspects… taste and presentation. Presentation was beautiful and inviting. And the taste was exceptional. This is my new desert at Applebee’s and now knowing their standard I will not except anything less from another location. If this place was really as bad as what other reviewers wrote, I would not come back. But I actually know better. I have been coming to this location for years before I started Unilocaling and I thought that I should actually formulate a review for this place. Lastly I gave this location a review of 5 stars. By no means is this a 5 star restaurant but felt i had a responsibilty to rectify worthless low ratings that were completely unjustified. In reality, it is comparably a 4 star restaurant compared to others restaurants of its type. A four star rating here means that this restaurant does its job and does it well. If this style of food is not your taste and level of service meets your standards, then do not come here. But if you do after reading this and decide to leave negative comments or reviews then you really need to adjust you expectation level to a reality that is at what franchise America serves too. This place is Always packed for a reason! Nuff said. If you do not want decent food at a good price… stay home and complain you don’t have anything to eat…

I wish I had read the reviews here before I chose Goldsboro’s Applebee’s to dine at instead of all the other fine restaurants the city boasts. We don’t frequent the Applebee’s where we leave but I went to the one in Fuquay and it was a good experience so we chose this one. It looked fairy new outside. We went early and a lot of the wait staff were hanging out at the bar. No bacon in my salad will surely cost you a star or two in the rating everytime. I was okay with the adequate service and average food, but that restroom turned my stomach. I don’t expect a spotless restroom at the end of a busy weekend night but it was barely 5:30 and I don’t think we had been touched in days — minus another star. Bill came quick but the waitress wasn’t overly friendly.

I’m not really an Applebee’s fan and every time I make an attempt they always disappoint. We showed up to a 4 pm party 30 minutes late and still waiting 20 more just to get drinks. They had one waitress servicing 7 tables. Food wasn’t bad. But seem that the regulars have made this spot complacent Updated after my 40 min wait Horrible service

Long wait. The smallest portion of food you could ever get! I was still hungry when we left and that’s not how it’s suppose to be. The waiters aren’t great either. we have lived here 2 years and haven’t been back.

I went here for the first time in a couple of years about a week ago, and was pleasantly surprised. In the past this place wouldn’t have earned a single star, but it looks like new management has recently taken over. The menu is standard Applebee’s fare, but tasted way better than I remembered. I guess it’s not difficult to improve upon utter crap, and adding to this is the current«2 meals for $ 20» deal – cheap night out for a couple. Part of the reason for this improvement is the vast improvement in service – waiters/waitresses are much, much friendlier and able without being overbearing. Other than that, all«Neighborhood Grill and Bar» standards apply: beer is cold, small plasma screens are mounted, cute hostess, fairly clean bathrooms, etc. I’m not expecting an exquisite dining experience when I go here. In fact, I’ve always considered the chain somewhere between Shoney’s and Chile’s. The Goldsboro Applebee’s, of all locations, definitely improved my perspective. Applebee’s: the new Bennigan’s?
