Delayed review .but honest
This is a great place for beautiful views. I drove up w/​my small kids. The drive up/​down can be nerve wracking (if u r afraid of heights), but spectacular! We drove up w/​ground temps about 75deg.F., & reached the top & found those temps to be about 30deg colder w/​whipping winds. The winds were VERY intense (almost felt like my little ones could be blown off the mountain)! There’s a very small weather museum at the top & store (about $ 1 to enter museum). Funny thing .the building is literally chained to the mountain (gotta see that)! Check weather conditions before you think of going as weather is EXTREMELY DIFFERENT @TOP! I would definetly go again. Very nice trip. At the start of your drive up, you receive a cd which narrates (history, facts, etc.) the drive very nice touch!

Wonderful views, very windy and cold but we were dressed accordingly. Bill was an excellent tour guide! He shared knowledge, stories and made the trip very enjoyable! Thank you for a great family excursion!

Sadly, this review isn’t for the actual road… Or the top of the mountain. I never made it that far. «its too cloudy», «I read it’s dangerous», «it will be too old at the top!» … Those were the excuses I got.
So umm yeah, my only experience would be looking thru one of those quarter telescope viewing machines that you spend ½ of the 30 seconds trying to focus and the the other half trying to figure out what you’re looking at … And the gift shop. Typical gift shop with collectibles, souvenirs, post cards, key chains, ornaments, clothing, etc. nice clean restrooms and lots of maps and suggested stuff to do in the area.
I’ll be back Mt Washington to conquer you! …and I won’t be sitting shotgun.

Yes, I was so terrified I couldn’t breathe. And yes, it was too expensive. HOWEVER — when the heck are you going to get to do something this amazing only 3 hours from home? Also, it cost as much as a cheap dinner that you digest in an hour and most likely won’t remember. And I mean, hundreds of years of construction, maintenance and tons of people putting their lives on the line so that we can drive up the tallest mountain in New England and bitch about the price. Come on.

Had a great day. 2 family members & I took the day to come here today & had a blast. Although once we got as far as the parking area at the top, I was unable to make it past that point do to certain health reasons, family members did & took plenty o’ pictures & I look forward to coming again in the not so distant future when I can too take part in the WHOLE experience (& besides, I want to take the train next time because it seems like it would be fun).

We drove up from Florida, to do the Snow Coach. Dexter our driver and tour guide was amazing. Took the time to teach and listen to our kids! Showed us Mt. Washington! The Snow Coach was very cool! Then after we spent 4 hours tubing, cross county skiing, and, then hiking with snow shoes. Paul in the equipment rental area was very knowledgable and took his time with our small child. And for lunch. The restaurant was filled with great food! Thanks again!

Mt. Washington Auto Road Management, Thank You so much for giving my boyfriend and I one special day of beauty that we will not soon forget. Thank You for opening the Auto Road to the many ATV riders from all over the country. We drove our ATVs up to the top of Mt. Washington this year; 2014 and had the time of our life. It was a crisp fall day with the leaves just turning. The Ride was on our BUCKET LIST. Thanks for the memories and we will be sure to tell our friends and family just how beautiful Mt. Washington is and how well maintained the Auto Road is for a safe and pleasurable drive both in the car and on ATVs.

Okay, the road itself is a blast. They get three stars because of the pricing. Don’t get me wrong, they do a wonderful job of road maintenance and providing «cool down» stops for your brakes and radiators as well as Mt Washington Triple-​A like service vans that will assist you whenever needed. Getting back to the pricing — 28 bucks for a car and driver and 8 dollars more per passenger? Ridiculous. Charge for the car, not the people. The people aren’t putting wear and tear on the road, the car is. Besides that it was an extremely enjoyable ride — particularly if you’re a Rocky Mountain goat. If you or your loved one suffer from anxiety attacks this may not be the ride for you. Oh and, recommended? Get gas before going up. Not like I almost ran out of gas or anything… Anyway, there’s a gas station at the base of the mountain but unfortunately in our case it only serves a reasonably priced «regular» gas. And of note? Check the weather before going up!
And wear that «this car made it up Mt. Washington» bumper sticker proudly (I wouldn’t on my car though. I mean metaphorically). In some ways I pride it more than my high school diploma — probably because I didn’t cheat death at every turn in school.

Did the guided tour… What they won’t tell you is how far up the mountain it will go, so make sure you ask! If the weather isn’t 100% ok, they won’t go to the top. I paid $ 90 for two people to go halfway up and turn around. Not cool. They shouldn’t charge the same amount for half the trip. Really weak. Kinda let down.

Great views, really really fun road. I tried to keep up with Travis Pastrana’s time, but there were too many people in front of me.
I still listen to the CD on a regular basis commuting to and from the office.
Not a dangerous road, but you will have to be alert, and preferably not drunk. There have only been 3 deaths since 1861 on the road.
Bring a jacket.

never again. scary, terrifying, no. ok until you get near the top. no guardrails. i can’t believe they let people drive up
