This is a great family owned BBQ restaurant that is next to a gas station in Ocoee/Gotha at the corner of Hempel and Old Winter Garden Rd. Don’t be scared away by the look of this place as it’s just an outdoor stand walled off by a metal fence. They greeted us when we arrived and they have a number of choices on their menu, from $ 4.50 lunch specials to full catering menus. Chicken, ribs, sausage, pork, home made BBQ sauce and you’ve got a great meal. I had the chicken lunch special which came with yellow rice and black beans and a side of garlic bread. The chicken was nice and tender with a smoky flavor and the BBQ sauce has some heat to it that leaves your taste buds feeling satisfied with each bite. The garlic bread was the best I have had in a very long time. I can’t wait to try their jerked chicken next time. It only took me 15 years of driving by this place to finally stop by and try it and I will definitely be a regular now.

Passed by this BBQ stand hundreds of times and always said I was going to stop. I finally stopped! I like to support local businesses. I’m wishing I would have stopped years ago! They have a large menu ranging from sandwiches to ribs to grilled fish. The man and woman(who I’m assuming are the owners) were very friendly. They were very apologetic about being out of ribs for the next few hours(we weren’t even mad). I got a chopped chicken bbq sandwich that was huge and delicious. The sauce had the perfect amount of heat and the chicken was nice and juicy with good smoky flavor. I tried my husband’s rice and beans. Delicious! I can’t wait to try their other food. They have menus to take with you that have their phone number on it so you can call in your order too.

Munchies is a TRUE hidden gem amongst the culinary world of the Orlando area. Running out of a tent next to what is quite possibly the Sketchiest gas station in Ocoee and being only a stones throw away from Yellow Dog Eats, quite possibly the most successful BBQ spot west of the city besides Four Rivers, it still holds it own against the competition. From start to finish of its day when open, the grills and smokers are procuring delicious meats for the loyal customers who do stop by, and they continue to stop by for damn good reason. With chairs that are made from logs and an entire dinning experience run out of a tent cover, it’s well worth the stop and the price. There is no denying that the chef at munchies with just his 2 – 3 man operation outside of a gas station, has just as much if not more talent then the best BBQ chefs in the city!

Grabbed the three meat combo for lunch today, all very tasty. If you are driving thru gotha and see smoke, pull over and give it a whirl.

This was seriously the best local find that I have ever made in my life. It’s a side of the road BBQ center that is set up beside a gas station. They have really cute little tables and chairs made out of tree stumps for you to eat on if you want to eat there. The food is extremely decently priced and the hotdogs are great, the burgers are the best that I think I’ve ever had in my entire life and all of the sides were fantastic and filling.

I really enjoy this place… I’ve been there many times. Burgers, chicken, pork, ribs have all been great. It’s not fancy, it’s not gourmet. .what it is makes it easier for me to enjoy a casual meal that I didn’t make… and I do enjoy it! I have brought extras home for friends and helpers, and everyone likes the entire meal.

Been here twice now. Tried all the BBQ selections. Pork is ok. Chicken is grilled breast and not real BBQ. Ribs are whatever. He makes his own sauce which is just not good. Some of the sides were pretty good. I love the idea of this chef making BBQ outside but he just does not deliver the goods.

Sauce, from scratch and not too sweet or hot. Mac and cheese, from scratch. Beans, from scratch. Pork, juicy and chopped. Verdict? I’ll be back!

I truly want to support local businesses however, they sometimes make it very hard. It was well past 12 noon when I got there. The only meat they had available was pulled pork and rib tips. So I went with the rib tips. I ate it as soon as I got home. I could taste a slight lighter fluid taste to the ribs. That immediately turned me off. I also got the mac n cheese and collard greens. The collard greens were bland and hot but, not spicy taste. The mac n cheese was made with velveeta. I am sorry but, I will not be back.

I used to compete on the pro BBQ circuit and have competed in the National Championships in Kansas City as well as the World Championships in Lynchburg TN. Having said that, I give a lot of slack to commercial BBQ joints because it is next to impossible to replicate competition BBQ in a restaurant consistently. I know and understand BBQ and can tell where things go right and wrong when making it. When my girlfriend and I went there they were out of ribs and it was gonna be a 45 minute wait to try them. No biggie, I can appreciate how you can’t hurry ribs along. The fact that they were out could either mean a big rush for lunch or just poor planning. The staff is very friendly. Ordered pulled pork, chicken, BBQ beans, apple slaw and collard greens. Pulled pork. Way too smoky like it was cooked over direct burning wood, which it appears to be. There was not much flavor on the front side of my mouth and nothing came in the back. I tasted smoke and a touch of salt but that was it. I asked my gf what she thought and she asked where the flavor was. The beans were in the same boat. Very bland almost like cheap canned beans that weren’t even doctored up. The chicken had a strong smoke flavor also and to me chicken can get by with just some salt and pepper and a proper amount of hickory but this was not a proper amount of smoke. I hate giving bad reviews to a local joint that is trying hard to make a living and support their families but the food here needs a lot of work if they want to be serious about their BBQ. I will try the burger or hot dog if I go back, but I will leave that to someone else since i find it kind of silly to go to a BBQ joint for a hot dog or a burger.

Where to begin with how great this BBQ is. I’ve been going since he opened, as we live right up the road, and year after year just exceptional. The sides are an original take on the Classic BBQ sides. My kids cannot get enough and they are discerning. The price is right too. It’s easy in, easy out, but make sure you chat with the owner as he is a great guy with a great story.

Rode by on my bike and nearly wrecked due to the intoxicating smell of the wood smoked ribs coming from this small outdoor rib place next to the gas station. Two hours later I drove back to satisfy my cravings. I was NOT disappointed! I got the ribs platter with a side of apple coleslaw, and yellow rice with black beans(both excellent). The ribs were awesome. I will definitely be stopping back often. I’d say check it out, but I want it to be my own secret little BBQ place.

Does it get any better than gas station BBQ? Munchie’s is a great roadside stand offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner at fantastic prices. The BBQ ribs were juicy, tender, and literally falling off of the bone. My favorite side dish was the fresh collard greens but the BBQ beans were a disappointment — out of a can and doctored up a bit. The menu offers fish and grits, hot smoked wings, gumbo and grits, pork and chicken sandwiches, black beans and rice, hot dogs, and hamburgers. Prices start at $ 2 and go to $ 18 for a whole slab of ribs. The sauce is a North Carolina style vinegar based o if you are not a fan of that style just ask to hold the sauce. The meat is perfectly cooked with tons of smokey goodness.

Munchies has been round for a little while now and is nestled next to a tiny gas station along Old Winter Garden/Gotha. I decided to try this place after work and it was a very wise decision. One of the chef’s I met has his grill set up outside. This is some delicious, home cooked BBQ!!! First, the prices are very reasonable for the very high quality food. Sandwiches are 2 for $ 10, and the platters include 2 sides. The first thing I tried were the hot dogs. $ 2 for 1 hot dog which is grilled to perfection and placed on a toasted hot dog bun with your choice condiments. The mac and cheese is out of this world! Made fresh, cheezy, and has a zing to it!!! The pulled pork is so juicy and flavourful! I did have it in a sandwich but by the time I got to work it was a little soggy. Can’t complain. The munchy steak burger(fully loaded) included crunched up BBQ chips and coleslaw as well as other toppings! MENUBELOW: BBQ Chop Chicken $ 6 Platter: $ 8 BBQ Chop Pork $ 6 Platter:8 Munchy Steak Buger $ 5 Platter: $ 6 Munchy Beef HotD $ 4 Platter $ 5 Reg Beef HotD $ 2 Platter $ 4 Smoked Hot Wings $ 6 Platter $ 8 BBQ Rib $ 7 Platter Half Rib: $ 14 Full Rib: $ 25 Sides $ 2– Mac N Cheese, Yellow Rice & Black Beans, Collard Greens, BBQ Beans, Apple Cole Slaw, Potato Salad Monday-Sat: 11−7pm Sunday: Church & Family
