Stayed here last weekend for a retreat. Chalet View Lodge team are friendly, courteous, helpful and pleasant. Front Desk staff are also the restaurant servers… They are like concierge and butler at the same time, which is pretty cool for me. Room was cozy and clean. We used the meeting room at the Spa building overlooking the wilderness, had a good dinner at The Grille Restaurant. Continental Breakfast with Starbucks coffee was included in the room rate which is served at the Grille restaurant. Meagan, Jyl and chambermaids are very friendly and helpful. I will definitely come back to this place.

3.5 stars… This is a nice lodge in the middle of nowhere(and I mean that) It is about 4+ hours away from San Francisco so if you wanted to get away from EVERYTHING, come here. It is quiet with great hiking trails nearby. The room we had desperately needed better lighting as it was pretty dark. For example, there was no light in the closet, which wouldn’t be such a big deal if the rest of the room pretty much stayed at mood lighting(which is dim lighting) Maid service was decent although you literally had to wait all day for service. Not a bad thing except if you needed extra towels and there is no one to assist you. However the staff are friendly, the grounds are clean, and it really is a beautiful place. Check it out if you happen to be in the area. Oh one thing to note, they do not brew coffee after 10am. At least not on a Monday they don’t.

The Chalet View Lodge is a fantastic place to stay! The staff is friendly and attentive, the grounds were more than I expected. I checked out multiple rooms and they would have all accommodated our needs. I am trying to figure out when I can come back again! Bob, Megan, Jyl, Javier, Vivian and I know I’m missing a few, all were there to help make our stay memorable, thank you, we’ll be back soon! Keep on doing what you’re doing!

We had a great experience here the night of our wedding. We stayed here on a Sunday night and were given a free upgrade to the honeymoon suite when they found out we had just got married… and we didn’t even get married at the Chalet View Lodge. That is good customer service if you ask me. The staff was nice and attentive and the room was amazing.

I loved this place! I want to give it 4.5 stars, but to keep them humble, I’m giving it just 4 stars. First, the rooms were beautiful. First bed was exceptionally comfy, the second one… still good but not as supportive. I adored the décor. Loved their flooring! I totally need that flooring in my house. Next, my favorite part is that they are pet-friendly with a $ 25/night charge. Okay, that sounds a bit steep but I understand people have allergies, and they apparently use that fee to cover a thorough cleaning of the room for other guests. Fair enough, but I left that room pretty clean with only some dog hair on their little area rugs. My next favorite part… the grounds! The 9-hole golf course was a perfect playground for me and my puppy – featured in some of the pics I uploaded. I don’t know how they can water so much during this drought, but that course is green! A bit too soaked in some areas for my comfort level. My feet got soaked as well. :( Breakfast is continental. Enough said. They have Starbucks though! That’s how I found the place. The Grille was closed when I arrived – apparently some problem in the kitchen. After reading another review, I think the manager/chef quit. Just guessing. It was closed for a party on my third and final night as well. I didn’t try on the second night. WiFi, I didn’t get to use. The TV in the first room didn’t work, but I didn’t really need it anyway. Finally, the only reason I could stay here was that they practically honored the State rate. So if you are a State worker, take advantage of staying at this location! They charged me $ 95.00/night because they originally gave me the golf course view. The manager wouldn’t give me the State rate when I moved to another room. I was disappointed, but overall it was worth it, so I didn’t fuss.

So I wish i could’ve given this place a 2.5, because it was alright, but not in the A-ok status. So i booked my stay about 6 months ago due the close proximity of the location to a wedding i was attending on the 4th of July. First off the booking online was a little confusing. One thing that was not confusing though was the statement that half of the 2 night fare was required as a deposit when i booked and it said«Due at Check-In» and stated the other half of the fare. However about a week prior to my stay there they decided to run my credit card for the remaining fare. I called and asked them why they charged me now instead of at check in. Their reply was«Because it’s 4th of july and a busy holiday, plus there’s only a 7 day cancellation policy». Please note this is their cancellation policy: CANCELLATIONPOLICY: 7 day notice required for all reservations or forfeit 1 night’s room and tax.- so with that being the case there was no reason for them to charge me ahead of time. To add to that frustration, at check in I decided to hang out in the ‘bar’ area. While sitting there a gentleman came up to the front desk and asked how to make a reservation for the spa. The response was that«um, we don’t really have a spa right now because the manager left, so we’re not opening it… but we do have a pool». Shortly after that another person came up and asked where the gym was located. The front desk girl not knowing anything about the gym asked the other woman who was i guess the other front desk person/bartender/only other person working. The other woman stated«oh well we don’t really have a gym right now either, the manager took most of the equipment with them and the stuff that’s there i don’t think it works… there might be an elliptical». It took all the strength i had not to laugh at that. I could go into detail about how the bartender couldn’t make a simple drink, but will just leave it at that comment. The room was nice, smaller then described, but nice still. However when you talk about«it’s the little things that matter», it was obvious that the little things were over looked. The blinds were broken, the lamp missing the knob to turn it on and the best was the Jacuzzi tub in the bathroom. The tub had a label that was printed out of a label maker you would have at home stating«sorry the jets to this dub do not work, this room is not rented as a jacuzzi tub room, thanks». So in other words the tub was broken, they never fixed it and thought that putting a label on it stating that it wasn’t a Jacuzzi tub room would fool people.(fyi, there is no option to book a Jacuzzi tub room online). The wifi is a joke, i was right next to the office and it barely worked, there was no hairdryer in the bathroom and there were no lunch time food options. The continental breakfast was nice, different bread options, cereal and yogurt and other then that, it was just ehhhh.

My husband and I booked this room over Labor Day weekend for 1 night. Lots of good reviews. First the good… Vivian at the front desk, the«everything» girl was worth every penny they are paying her! They have her at front desk but she works the bar, gets all equipment for the various things to do on the grounds and helps out at the restaurant all she can. She was pleasant and kind and VERY accommodating. The room was quite nice and comfortable and the grounds were fun and lots of things to do. If our experience ended there it would have been 5 stars. We were soooo looking forward to dinner and made reservations for 7:30pm and we sat outside. We did not catch our waitress’s name… we think it was Melissa. Vivian sat us at our table and our waitress never came to greet us or even talk with us for at least ½ an hour. We gave her our order and asked for water…15 more min went by and we asked for water again… and perhaps bread? She said sure… and walked away…15 more min a kind blond lady came by and asked us if we were ok… she noticed we have been sitting at empty table for a very long time. We told her we had been there for an hour. we would like some water and perhaps some bread and perhaps our salad??? She said she would give us water… she did and then made our salad personally for us. I asked her if she could pleas be our waitress. The party of 4 next to us said they had been there ½ hour ahead of us and have been watching in amazement the incredibly terrible service and they had not gotten their food either at that time. They did get their salad, however. We laughed about it. We waited another at least 20+ more min to get my husband’s food… but not mine. It was at that time Melissa our waitress came by and asked if everything was ok and food was tasty… What the heck? Then 10 min later my food came. The food was incredible. I got the chicken and it was very tasty. The gentlemen at the other table said their food was very good as well. So that was the redeeming factor of the entire evening. It was very cold outside since now it was approx 9pm. The table next to ours asked Melissa to turn on the outside warmer. Her response was that she needed a few min to «reposition» the thing… then ran off never to attempt or be seen again. Enter«Vivian» She tried to move it and start it but it would not. So she rearrange the furniture and went outside and came back with a wheel barrow full of wood and started the fireplace. There was a lovely couple sitting by the fireplace we all struck up a conversation. They said they love the food and had been there a couple of times but the service was ALWAYS like this and known for the poor service. Hmmmm. They had already drunk a bottle of wine and asked Melissa for another. Which she charmingly said«Absolutely» and went away… never to be seen again. We caught up with her approx 20 or so min later when we went to the front desk to get a treat and try to pay for it. I saw Melissa with the bottle of wine, carrying it around… then she started talking with Vivian… As we waited and waited just to try to charge the treat to our room, the young man came into the front desk area and asked Melissa if he could please have the bottle of wine… then he left… she proceeded to attempt to open the bottle but could not… Vivian had to open it for her. As we walked out and back to our room, we stopped by to let the young man know that his bottle of wine was coming… she was having a hard time opening it and we laughed. We estimated that it prob took about 20 min or so for her to go get the bottle and open it… but could have been longer had he not come in and reminded her… In my opinion Melissa would NOT be working for my restaurant and I would be raising Vivian’s salary. But it’s a shame this kind of experience has to happen here with the great food. Eat at your own risk here!
