I was absolutely delighted to find this place! Its been in business since the 1960’s! Surely they know what they are doing! I enjoyed my chat with the owner, and loved looking around. I’m so happy they carry berocco comfort in worsted weight — my go-to yarn for baby sweaters and hats. Since I live in Milwaukee, this will become a part of my occasional Grafton trip: Grafton Yarn Store, Grafton Alterra and Costco. And Trader Joes on the way home :-)

I give two stars for the decent selection of yarns here. I give a big fat zero for the way the owner treats people. Rude, rude, rude. Every time I have been in this shop she is just rude and condescending to customers. In one particular instance I asked a question about the fiber content of a particular yarn and she asked me what I making with it. She didn’t answer my question, she just told me that other knitters making the same thing like to use another yarn. Sigh… if I wanted to use that yarn, I would have chosen that particular yarn. All knitters have their groupies, but hearing the owner audibly sigh when a paying customer would like to check out and causes her to have to leave the group for a moment, maybe she should reconsider being a shop owner. There are plenty of other wonderful yarn shops in the area that do not treat their customers like they are stupid and an annoyance. Please know that my poor experience here has been repeated and not a one time thing. I know I can’t post what others have experienced, but know that I am far from the only one who has left here feeling like a nuisance. As far as the patterns that are sold there… many of them appear to be ripped off from free patterns on . :(

So I have this problem or, maybe, addiction that requires me to check out yarn stores when I am visiting other states. I could be in the most remote place, but if I find a yarn store — I feel at home. So, upon my visit to Grafton for my cousin’s wedding, I decided to spend some downtime shopping for yarn. I love the Grafton Yarn Store. The owner immediately welcomed me into her shop and I didn’t feel like an awkward out-of-towner at all. Her shop, being housed in the old mill, is very spacious and you’ll find plenty to suit your mood here. I bought so many skeins that I had to ship them home as they wouldn’t fit into my suitcase. I was able to find some skeins here that I don’t usually find in Philadelphia on a regular basis which made it well worth my trip. The price points won’t put a major dent in your wallet either — though there are some higher end options if you fancy something very special. There is certainly something here for everyone, though, which is important when serving a diverse range of fiber lovers. I was also pleased with the lovely buttons she has on display in the case at the register. There are couches for relaxing and working on your latest project with a separate space and large table for classes. The store also features a variety of their own patterns which are lovely and well written. I’m sure I’ll be making stops here when I pass through again!

I finally got to visit this yarn store months after meeting the wonderful staff at the Stitch and Pitch. The store is located in the Grafton Mill alongside artists’ studios(one of which is the owner’s daughter). When you enter the store, it’s a knitter or crocheter dream come true. Yarn is everywhere and neatly arranged. Patterns and samples also line the store. It has a cozy feeling with a couch off to the side of the store for weekly knitting nights. There’s a table tucked away in a corner for classes. The stocked yarns are simply amazing. They have everything from Debbie Bliss, Casade, Geidfra, and others. With the vast amount of yarn, it didn’t feel overwhelming at all instead it was a treat to walk through the store. I received absolutely amazing service while there and will go back for my yarn needs. I’m so happy that there’s a great yarn store with wonderful people that know yarn well.
