Strong, flavorful cups brewed from single-origin, locally-roasted sustainable beans. It doesn’t get any better than that.

Great coffee, great service and the superior choice in café/coffee shop in Grand Haven. A must for the groggy, un-morning person in need of a change in his/her traditional coffee routine.

I love Grand Haven! It’s a beautiful little town filled with kind people… of which many think a battered and deep fried hot dog on a stick is good food.(Seriously, Pronto Pup has four and a half stars. WTF?!) A few years back I stopped posting reviews to Unilocal about Grand Haven because it was all just so utterly depressing. Then came Aldea! Finally, some place that Grand Havenites can be truly proud of.(And don’t tell me we should be proud of Butch’s Burritos, or Fricano’s Pizza, or well, just don’t…my slapping hand is getting itchy!) …but about Aldea… Great staff. Great coffee. Great mission. Great. Great. Great. Seriously. Great. Their espresso drinks are to die for… perfectly crafted with care and attention. These kind folks know exactly what they are doing and are excited to share their passion with you. Go here. Spend your money here. Oh, and Thursdays they bring in croissants from Grand Rapids which are truly, truly awesome. On second thought, ignore that, I don’t want the lines on Thursday mornings to get too long. (Yes, I’m a coffee snob. That’s why you should listen to me!)

Aldea: brief and pithy synopsis: 1. Best coffee in Western MI 2. Best coffee house in MI 3. Best Baristas in the country 4. Best place to hang without alcohol* Aldea: not so brief and pithy synopsis: Ok here goes it. This is my first Unilocal review ever. It just took me 20 minutes to sign up on the Unilocal app and correct my location. I’m just a caveman, modern technology frightens and confuses me… Anyway I’m writing this review from my favorite coffee house in Chicago, IL. The original Asado on Irving Park and Southport, just west of Southport. Kevin and his crew do an amazing job. Being from Chicago I am overly spoiled with great places to eat and drink so when I get out of town I am overly disappointed in the lack of such places. Thank God I found Aldea in Grand Haven, MI. The coffee, espresso, cappuccino, etc… Are on par with the best coffees I’ve ever had around the world. The place itself is Located in the old Armory building which is another story by itself. The atmosphere is fantastic. Picture Norm walking into Cheers for people that can remember when NBC had the best line up of shows on Thursday night and there were only like 5 channels on television. The baristas, hate the word personally, but here I believe it is appropriate and accurate. It’s like going to your favorite bar, restaurant, barber shop, etc… And seeing your favorite employee and best friend. It’s hard to leave because you are having such a wonderful experience. You can talk coffee, weekends, or even how the cover of the Economist, which they have for viewing, the one with the cover on the best way to smoke weed with the picture of a joint that looks more like a feminine hygiene product than a joint, for hours. All of the baristas, Jeremy, Andrew, Heidi and Brittany are absolutely fabulous. Some of my favorite people on the planet. Thank you to each and everyone of them as I have been spending a lot of time in Grand Haven and they have made me feel very welcome, liked, enjoyed and appreciated as I have been dealing with the worst period of time in my life. Death, loss, melancholy and the infinite sadness. Thank you. Heidi I took forever to write this review, pure laziness and the whole caveman thing, but wanted to get this out before your trip. Via con Dios and can’t wait until you’re back. Hope you like the review. To all, this is the one spot in MI that should be on your bucket list. That asterisk was because there’s a microbrewery in the building as well where Ben, Shawn and Emily do a fantastic job. You have to try the hop bomb and crop duster. Thanks again and will see you after Easter. Tell Kenny I said hi.

Hands down, absolutely the best coffee that you will find in the area. Their espressos have just the right amount of bitterness. Friendly staff and good prices.

Aldea makes the best coffee in Grand Haven. Get an espresso at every coffee place in town and compare them for proof. Aldea serves ethical coffee as a business model and not in a token way. I can’t complain about the price, good coffee is a little expensive. Coffee: fantastic minimal menu, Italian espresso sizes, amazing roasts(named after the farmers who grew them), Latté, macchiato, espresso, and pour-over were great. Also, the spiced hot chocolate was incredible. Atmosphere: The Armory has a bbq, a bar, and coffee shop all in one building. It is refreshing to find quality coffee in a place which isn’t overtly pretentious or trendy. The atmosphere is well-designed and does not alienate any age range. It is on the quiet side, out of the way of the busy retail and tourism.

Aldea Coffee is the best coffee in Ottawa County… If you have never had a cup of pour over coffee or well-made espresso, it may seem unusual or a foreign experience but I can assure you that you will find it worth it & fall for the amazing, delicious way coffee can taste. Not to mention how great the service is, the best pastries & how cool the armory space is… you’ve got to try this place & it will become your favorite coffee shop!
