Legit Mexican food. Music and all. Menu variety has wide selection. Combos, lunch specials. Food is tasty! Salsa is excellent!

Today I went to Don Luis excited to get a margarita and cheese enchiladas. When I got the margarita it smelled quite profusely of draino or some kind bleach cleaning product. It was disgusting. I had the waitress smell it and she just said«oh it’s just the tequila that smells» I come to this restaurant often because it’s always pretty tasty. Today I left feeling bloated and sick. On my way out I told the owner about the drink problem and he just said ok it’s alright. I would appreciate a little more proactively when it comes to my drink/food.

Nice atmosphere and friendly staff! Good what I had. Just taco salad. Tons of meat! I’m more for better veggies but I understand. The food was good. I loved the chips and salsa! Yummy.

Delicious. I’m in town only for a day and I have two kids under age 10 with me so I needed a kid-friendly menu on a Sunday evening and this place fit the bill. I had the shrimp quesadilla and after devouring their meal the kids had both fried ice cream and the chimi cheesecake. They helped select the dinner place and said they wanted to provide input on the review. They agree that 5 stars was appropriate and I don’t disagree. We were seated very quickly and served chips and delicious salsa almost immediately. Margarita wasn’t too strong. If I had any criticism at all is that the drink could be stronger but all in all a good dinner stop. Thank you!

We saw the great reviews for this place and are new to town so decided to stop and try it out. We were seated quickly and were given chips and salsa quickly. The queso wasn’t super thick but wasn’t super runny. About right for our liking! It was a little different tasting than others I’ve had recently but I think a lot of quesos are different depending on the restaurant — this one just wasn’t my favorite. Still good though. I also(before ordering) asked to be sure that the burrito I was getting came with the condiments and rice listed in the menu on the side and not all in the burrito. The waiter told me it all came on the side, but when I got it, I got a huge burrito with soggy lettuce and tomatoes inside and nothing on the side. Our waiter didn’t seem to understand much of what we said, so that may be why he answered my question incorrectly. Afterwards my stomach HURT. Which is unusual for me. My fiancé was fine. I’m assuming we’ll give it another shot sometime but not for awhile.

Great food. Very fast service. Probably more of a carribean style Mexican food. I really enjoy it though.

Good food, beer is very cold. Service is prompt. Servers could smile and be more personable. But overall I think the best Mexican in the area.

No menudo or posole! Oh well it is a beautiful place and the food comes out super fast. Portions are just the right size. Drinks are tasty but not too strong.

We have eaten at Don Luis twice and both times the food was excellent. .Authentic Mexican Food. Portions were excellent and the women took the rest of theirs home and had it for lunch the next day. There are many options for Gluten Free to choose from. We certainly will be back soon. Order a Dos Equis Beer, you won’t be sorry.

Good Americanized Mexican food; a little on the bland side but being from Texas I’m used to very spicy. Chips and salsa were tasty, but no refill on the chips. LARGE portions — I had the Enchiladas Supreme and it was huge, but served without rice or beans. Service was very good — right on the spot without being obtrusive. Food came out very, very quickly. No real downside, just nothing that made it stand out from 100 other places.

Excellent meals with large portions! Large menu selection for anyone’s preference. Their salsa is the best by far. Great margaritas and they are 50% off on Wednesday’s.

Great Mexican in Grand Haven! We’ve found most of the servers there to be quick and very friendly! Really like the salsa and margaritas too! It’s a fun little spot and very busy at dinner time.

If you want a large selection of authentic mexican dishes, then you’ve come to the right place. Don Luis was by far the best mexican cuisine that my wife and I have had in quite a long time. The plates are good sized(what you see on the menu is what you get) and you may very well have leftovers to take with you. Service was good, nothing extraordinary. The beer selection was typical(Dos Equis, Corona, etc.) so don’t expect a huge assortment of choices. I wouldn’t hesitate for a second to return… in fact we ate there twice during our 3-day stay in Grand Haven.

Food was fantastic really authentic. The cheese dip appetizer was great and their guacamole was great along with their pico da Gialo. Highly recommend eating there if you like authentic Mexican food. The had really great service very friendly. Plus their chips and salsa is very good I would recommend the La Grande Quesadilas.

Food was outstanding, had the Tacos el Pastor first time I have had those since I was in Mexico City where grilled pineapple was used, definite plus! One of my sons had a chicken and cheese quesadilla, said it was best ever. My other son had enchiladas, one chicken, one cheese, his clean plate said all I needed to hear about his opinion. Service was very good, timely but not annoying. The décor I have to say is awesome, love the carved wood caricatures in the chairs and booths, very colorful and festive. Will def be back on my next vacation here. Not even sure if the other reviewers ate at the same restaurant I did but I highly recommend.

I’ve been searching for a good Mexican restaurant since moving to Western Michigan. I finally hit the jackpot with Don Luis Bar & Grill. With three in our party we each ordered our favorite entrée, Hawaiian Fajitas, Carnitas Mexicanas and Chile Rellenos. The wait staff was attentive and very friendly including the assistant manager who checked on us twice. We sampled each other’s plate and all three of us agreed that we have found an outstanding Mexican Restaurant.

Best and most authentic Mexican food around. The artistry adorning tables and chairs not just walls all appear hand crafted, quite unique. The Chile Relleno was my favorite. Burrito with beef tips was delicious. The salsa that comes with warm chips as soon as you are seated is addictive. We even happened to be there when a small band was playing. A new favorite.

KEEPDRIVING. Nothing like an alcohol-less margarita, and rude service to start your lunch! I asked the waiter how big the medium size margarita was and he looked at me and said curtly, «I have no idea.» Okay… I then laughed and said, «Gee, I’m sorry I asked.» He responded by getting my margarita, bringing it back to our table, THEN asking me for my i.d. as he held my drink in his hand.(I am 45 years old and look it.) LAME. The guacamole was flavorless. The steak in my al pastor tacos was overcooked and rubbery. Blah food, bad service, and no booze in my drink? Next time we’ll drive by.
