I grew up on eating at this restarunt. My husband loves Mexican so I figured I take him here as it is one of the better Mexican places I’ve had in this area. The food was decent and the margaritas were wonderful. However, the service was beyond horrible. We went on a Thursday night and they had three other tables while we were waiting. The waitress seemed annoyed when I asked for more water. After we finished eating, we were going to order some dessert, but the waitress never came back. After a half hour, we went to the register to get our check to pay for our meal and left. I would not recommend this place based on the shitty service. We saw 3 people the entire time, only one was old enough for alcohol. And other than bringing us the margaritas, we only saw the one waitress who was rude.

During an unplanned stop and stay in Grand Island due to a snow storm we needed a place to have dinner so we opted for El Tapatio across from our hotel. Not a particularly up to date location in terms of atmosphere we were however pleasantly rewarded with the food we received for our effort. My wife had the«Pollo Burrito» with good quality shredded chicken and home made guacamole. While not as good as the one she had a week and a half earlier in Albuquerque it was none the less a satisfying choice. I opted for the very enjoyable«Pollo Tapatio» and was rewarded with rich sauce covered chunks of chicken, mushrooms, peppers, and onions with a sprinkling of shredded cheese. It was accompanied with a mix of corn and flour tortillas, the usual Spanish rice, and some of the best house made refried beans I have ever had.

This is my fathers favorite spot to eat when my mother is out of town, and we usually come here at least once when I am back in town. Quick service and great food. Portion size can usually accommodate two people, which means a great cheap date or even better, left-overs the next day! Tuesday’s through Saturday(?) there is Veteran(and often his wife as well) who play guitar and sing music for the guests. They play old classic hits(often takes request) which stirs up old memories from my Dad’s childhood, which his stories makes the experience that much more enjoyable. You can’t beat the quality of the service, delicious food and live music! Be sure to come on an empty stomach.

We’re staying at the State Fair campground and decided to try this place. My husband said his beef fajitas were good and I enjoyed the carnitas dinner. We each had a jumbo lime margarita that was very much to our liking. For dessert my husband had fried ice cream and I had the sopapilla with ice cream! Both were made different from what we’d had elsewhere, but were so delicious! I’ll definitely eat here again!

I was a bit worried when there weren’t many cars in the parking lot. When we walked in, there were about 4 tables of people and a guy playing a guitar and singing. I was expecting some mariachi music but this was just some bad Jimmy Buffet and whatever else he had in his book, although he was very nice and kinda the highlight of this place. I had the pork green enchiladas which were actually pretty good. The plates were small and silverware cheap. I usually don’t notice that but this was kinda bad cheap. I also ordered a jumbo frozen margarita, which was maybe the worst I have ever had. When asked if everything was ok while I was paying, I said«the margarita wasn’t very good and it was all ice.» The cashier said, «we hear that all the time». So, in closing, I would maybe eat here again but I would order a beer.

We went there because it was across the street from the hotel. We asked what they had that was vegetarian. Not much it turns out, not even the rice and beans. They did give us vegetable fajitas – a plate full of onions and some pineapple, no rice and beans, and they charged us $ 15!!! We asked for guacamole and they asked us if we wanted the $ 6 or $ 2 size. We asked for and got the $ 2 size but we were charged for the $ 6 size. And honestly they should have comped the guac since we didn’t get the beans. Anyway, even if I lived here, I would never go back.

Been here a couple of times as we passed through; great chips and salsa. Entrees are pretty decent. Classic Margarita on the rocks is really good. Service both times has been mediocre.

Great chicken tacos, horrible everything else. Service is non-existent, guacamole dip was tasteless, chimichanga was below average. Had to wait forever for drink refills. Finally stole silverware from another table after the server forgot about us. Restaurant is outdated and appears to be cobbled together. I’ll never be back to this one.

I was on a trip cross-country last week and found this place on-line. I was very pleased that I did. As a resident of the Bay Area I feel pretty well versed in Mexican food. The housemade chips and salsa were as good as any I’ve ever had. All the food was very tasty and the staff were attentive, very nice and very fast. It’s a great pit stop.

Meh. Average food, below-average service, convenient for hotel guests. We ate here because it was across the street from the Holiday Inn Midtown. The margaritas were pretty good, but not served in margarita glasses. Also, I asked for no salt, and got lots of salt… on both. I tried the steak picado, which came with a salad. The salad was served before the meal, with the wrong dressing. Unimpressed with the steak picado, but to be fair — that’s a dish I hadn’t tried before.(It was way different than the creamy-sauce chicken picado I’ve had before) My friend had a burrito & some fried ice cream. Instead of serving the ice cream in one of those fried-bowls, they wrap it up chimichanga-style & she said it was really good. A bill was never brought to the table, so we paid up front. Our waiter had to check the menu for the prices of what we ordered and total it up on a calculator. I might sound nit-picky about the service, but there were only 2 – 3 tables of people including us, so I was a little disappointed. Despite the mistakes, our waiter was friendly.
